The theater sequence for example. Yes, I’ve sadly seen that, but our place is being re-innovated by a dedicated cast of people who remember the ‘good old days’. I went into it once a month or so ago, and it brought back lots of good memories, especially in the balcony with a good ‘friend’ (ahems) ;)
Day 4 – Urban renewal. Still no plot holes… Ended up in Albany a few years ago. A few decades ago Albany had a cheap mayor who ignored the urban renewal going on in other cities. The old buildings were just left to decay. When the fad of urban renewal passed, “Tear ’em all down, NOW!” He claimed to have wanted to preserve the historic nature of the city. But they are now being torn down or collapsing. Leaving a decaying building standing does not preserve it.
Are they going to find a body in one of the buildings? I remember a story line from long ago where lightning blasted a tree and a skeleton was exposed, forcing Tracy to solve a murder from many years earlier.
I’m watching Dick Tracy in its death throes . The strip is dying before my very eyes . Maybe another year at best before Dick and his friend’s breathe their last ?
Here’s a plot idea: have Tracy rescue a kidnapped child. Or have an armed man burst into the police station. Or have a cat-burglar creeping around Tracy’s apartment for reasons yet unknown. Or have the prize be missing from the bottom of the cereal box.
DT: Ok – so we found you at this deli right here, Sam – just two blocks from the Station House. So how could you possibly have been lost? And why are you wearing that helmet??? SAM: Uhhh…I’m in concussion protocol – it’s required.
DT: OH! THAT’S why you got lost then – concussion! SAM: Yeah, sure – let’s go with that…
The comments are more interesting than the strip. How can they not notice? If there is a problem with storytelling,, maybe it’s time to fix the problem.
How would they handle the City of Baltimore or the Banana Republic of Miami ? They are eyesores among themselves full of illegal politicians and illegal aliens but which is worse ?

Call me old-fashioned but when I think of “action” in a Dick Tracy strip I’m not thinking of urban renewal projects.

Good morning™, all!
It seems that a lot of the action in this strip lately takes place in abandoned warehouse districts.

I believe I know what this is ‘building’ up too. Serious arson of old dilapidated buildings and someone getting hurt.

I don’t know if a slow-burn approach to storytelling works in comic strips. I’m ready for something, anything, to happen here.

How can y ou not be impressed with a panel that was probably drawn with a jeweler’s eyepiece?
Lots of people looking for old skeletons(literally)—-or maybe an undelivered letter that got stuck in the mail chute?
