The best part of having someone in NYC, is showing you where the best food is. Although it may be unusual food for you, it’s probably very good and cheap! With 2 college girls, that’s probably all they can afford anyway. When we’ve been there, we talk to the locals to find the best places to eat and to go. It’s still good to hit up the tourists spots too for sightseeing, but I wouldn’t ignore the off-beat spots. I like this story arc, it’s fun.

There is a type of grub, in Australasia if i recall right, which is supposed to taste similar to but better than the best shrimp, crab, or lobster when it is cooked. My allergist put his foot down when i asked: no puposeful insect eatting for people very allergic to crustaceans. Oh, well, i never got to go there, anyway.

Locake, yes. There is nothing wrong with people being different. We all are. With so many variations it woukd be no surprise, since normal only means average, if no one is normal. It would be next to impossible to figure out, anyway.
There have been some (certainly not you that i recall) who only come on to postulate the worst and sound like fearful fools. Yesterday i was wondering if one of them just hates NYC so pulled up the past posts of that one of those posters and the person is a new name who seems to just do fecal drops in any strip’s comment section, but luckily not many and not often. NYC is not that person’s sole target.

BTW, their hotel room is just about the size of the wonderfully economical B&B room a friend and I stayed at in Chelsea one year (my room was smaller, if I recall, but it was a great experience and a wonderful location). I can’t speak for the size of rooms in major high rise hotels, however.

Here in the LA/OC area we have asian food everywhere. With the immigration of Vietnamese Orange County became the home of Little Saigon. I would guess that Vietnamese food is probably the most popular right now. My Korean cousin is always on the lookout for a good Pho (pronounced pha) shop. Thai is also popular. Being on the Pacific rim is great.

Yesterday at the ophthalmologist’s i saw a strawberry blond young woman about Luann’s drawn age with this chunked into her hair and coukd not help but think of Luann trying in, but i think it would be too hard to color as anything other than blotches. Sheriff?

7Very interesting menu choices today. I think that for me, the best bet is to always order myself. Even though Stacy knows what she wants, and even though Luann seemed very willing to try it, it would still have been better to have Bernie and Luann order something of their choosing, and perhaps share a bit of the intestines and larvae with them and vice-versa.I personally am not much of a meat eater (chicken, turkey, fish), and when I eat meat it tends to be in small quantities. I very much enjoy exploring various culinary cuisines, but since I am not fond of a lot of meat types, regardless of preparation, I tend to look for and eat anything that is vegetarian without hesitation wherever I go. At a wonderful Indian restaurant I was able to go to recently, I did have a first experience in eating a goat curry, but it was a very small amount that I shared from my wife’s order. I have done similarly in other cuisines as well.

For the most part people in NYC dress like people in any other U.S. city or suburb. Thinking that people in NYC always wear black is like thinking that they do not look up (aside from tourists gawking at the canyon effect) when actually people appreciate architecture, gargoyles, balcony and rooftop gardens that at times can be seen, etc. For those who want a view of some of the better put together outfits here is another resource, divided by topic, and it even includes something on combinations of black, white and silver for those here who want to stay there:

KOREAN NATIONAL DISH::Bulgogi, a Korean classic of marinated grilled beef, is easy to make and fun to eat; it’s no wonder it is one of the country’s most successful culinary exports. As with most Korean barbecue, the meat is seasoned with sesame and scallion, and has ripe pears in the marinade to tenderize the meat and add a characteristic sweetness. Round, pale yellow Asian pears are traditional, but Bosc pears are just fine.
The meat is only half the recipe: Just as important are the crunchy vegetables, pungent herbs and savory sauces that all get wrapped together into delicious mouthfuls. Perilla is a common Korean herb in the mint family, but if you cannot find it, you can try other herbs like shiso or cilantro. Make sure to wrap your bundle tightly: According to Korean tradition, you must finish it in a single bite!

The Chinatown in Flushing Queens is best these days, the only place where you can eat "stinky tofu (Taiwanese) which I love’. The menu (Red Chopstick) also had assorted innards, e.g. ‘duck blood with green chives’, ‘pig liver with sesame oil’, ‘intestine pig blood with sour mustard’.

Yes. I think many people have weird ideas about many places that are different for them. My personal favorite is how two different places can have two different ways of being respectfully polite but each is so different from that other that people from either place can mistake wonderful kindness and consideration for something very different.
