Remember Luann knows Les from high school. But some states the drinking age is 21, others its 18. Hmmm will Luann get on a buzz? And Les will he behave? Looks nice though, TJ did a good job, this is his talent—event planning and carrying out.
The person who designed the infamous butterfly ballot was Palm Beach County Elections supervisor Theresa LePore, and she was a life-long Democrat. Her rationale for the design was horrifying. She said she was a member of a federal committee dealing with voting problems experienced by the disabled, and she was trying to make voting easier for them. The design did nothing to help the disabled, and it was legal at that time for disabled folks to ask for help with voting. (I hope it still is, but since I get a ballot through the mail, I’m not keeping up with that law now.)
.
It is most likely that LePore designed the ballot that way to save money, because in addition to all the candidates, there were a number of ballot initiatives that voters were being asked to respond to. Using the double system, LePort did not have to create as many pages on the ballot.
LOL, I decided to finish the day yesterday with this one:
.
Sherlock Holmes and Watson decide to go on a camping trip. Sherlock awoke in the middle of the night, prodded Watson awake, and asked him, “Watson, dear friend – the stars above, what do they make you think?”
.
Watson replied, “I see the stars in the universe, and each star is a sun with planets in orbit around it. I cannot help but think that some of those planets may have intelligent life on them.”
.
“Watson, you idiot – If you are seeing the stars, it means someone has stolen our tent…”
Maybe Shannon’s behavior is normal for a kid her age, that’s why I normally don’t care for kids her age. “Shannon!!! Stop digging in the wedding cake with your fingers!!”
“Are there no censors on this strip?” If there were any censors, they probably would have censored your novel, that took half the comments-space today… Please DO try to take it down a bit.
Didn’t they hire the wedding planner to do the table arrangements? What were they paying her for if that wasn’t the case? It sounds like they did all the work.
We see Luann at last. poor thing doesn’t know whether to be happy or sad. however, Toni looks drop – dead gorgeous. after all, it’s her day. and Leslie looks a bit annoyed, as usual. and hopefully, it wont be a honeymoon for three. Don’t see Jonah anywhere. let’s hope he didn’t hitch a ride with their strange aunt.
Oh LOOK. The Bra…,Oh I’m Sorry. I Meant the Poor, Misunderstood Little Tyke, just made a representation of a “Windmill.” You Know, those Gadgets that produce Insufficient power and kills birds by the hundreds….,
i’m loving Shannon too. It must be so exciting for her to sit at the table of honor.
A possible development to the story: Jonah sees how well Shannon functions with Brad & Toni, and a mutual decision is made that Brad/Toni legally adopt her so Jonah can pursue his acting ambitions. In other words, a decision that’s made in everyone’s best interest, not a decision made to attack Jonah b/c he’s a flake.

Sorry Lu and Les— Pru’s sinnerpieces with the periwinkle made the main table (along with Shannon’s). Yours (gray and white) must have been relegated to the guest book table.
…tension and angst – Les looking to drug Luann? Doesn’t she look suspicious about the bottle in his hand? Red herring or something actually sinister? Wow, it’s another never-ending thrill packed episode!
The comment section is my favorite of the strip. It is so much fun to read so many comments that have nothing to do with that day’s strip.
We are a rather an eclectic bunch, aren’t we (he said, with a wink)? Seriously, even though a comment may not have had anything to do directly with the strip, it’s usually because someone said something that triggered it. This comments board can be like a tree that “branches out” in different directions.
No, Brad, TJ and the “team” didn’t do all this. You’re paying the lady who owns the wedding cottage to do most of this. Remember the negotiations between TJ and her regarding the price of the table settings?
Luann’s expression would indicate she’s not used to being offered wine at the table. (It must be wine or the expression would be goofy for apple juice.) Unless they are tea totalers, most families offer their minor children a small amount of wine on ‘special’ occasions – under strict supervision. Sitting at the table of honor, her parents should be able to keep an eye on her. Besides, college-aged folks need to know how to handle alcohol responsibly. Here’s her chance. P.S. It’s just a comic strip folks. Lighten up!
Jackreacher…. wow…. FIRST two days in a row! A lot of folks covet that position. You must have your timing down just right to get it twice in the same week. :)
.
Thank you for your comments. I have enjoyed them, and for your discussion today as well.
A nice play on words, since sexual acts are sins, unless married as they are and only in matters of reproduction are allowed otherwise it is Sin City. Shannon is a cutie.
I actually really like Shannon’s “sinnerpiece”… to me it is the highlight of the table.
.
I am also very glad that they are following tradition and having Shannon (the flower girl) sitting at the wedding party’s table. I have been to one or two weddings in the last few years where the flower girl and the ring bearer both get shipped off somewhere else and in the two cases I saw…. the kids were very distraught not being at the “big table”.
.
But now…. the big question…. where is PUDDLES?!?!?! He was the ring bearer!!!!! He should be at the table too! :)
.
Another thing I notice…. the only candles visible on the wedding party’s table are the ones that have the blue ribbons and do-dads. So, will the other two candle makers be “jealous”? :)
.
Well, this is the only time I have for a break for a while, with today being an especially busy day. I only had about 15 minutes to come see what was up here at “Luann”. So now, I have been able to read comments, make a few comments, and I have just finished my morning coffee and my pipe. Onto my next final exam in a few minutes.
What a cool tableau ! (No sarcasm here!) I think you guys are reading too much into “sinnerpiece”. What if it’s just a funny little girl’s misused word? Or a cartoonist’s Freudian double entendre? Who caes? It’s fun!…. And what if Les (? – the angry kid, right?) is trying out a new style? Turning over a new leaf? That would be cool. As I say to my sons, “privilege <=> responsibility”. Maybe he’ll relax enough to talk nicely with some of the young women there. And yea, Greg & Co., why not let Luann get a little tipsy, she’s among friends! Tally ho!
Luann won’t take a sip, regardless of the unique special occasion. Anyway, if she did she’d black out just like Gunther; he was at the wedding so he can tell her all about it. And the artist is still hiding Toni’s tattoo from the conservative readers—he really knows his audience!
Shannon will probably be seated next to her father, and he would likely be at the main table. Shannon is standing, not seated and there is no plate or chair for her between Toni and Luann.
“One my faves. So was, “He doesn’t look like my brother, but his face rings a bell.””
…
One of the best versions of the “his face rings a bell” joke was done by Pee Wee Herman on the Letterman Show back in 1983. He manages to stretch it out to four minutes, but it is well worth a watch:
Thanks – there are two more of the same, but both of those are in color. One has over 181,000 views, and the other has over 18,000 views. Still pretty low, though. Probably not many looking up Letterman episodes form the early 80’s… :)
I believe that Toni and Brad have a delayed honeymoon. I may be wrong, but I still think that Toni’s surprise has to do with getting her apartment ready so that Brad can move in with her so they can have some privacy.
Will Luann become potted at big bro’s wedding? I think not. Skip the wine, M’am, and concentrate on Shannon’s sinnerpiece while pondering the meaning of that intentional misnomer (I’m looking at you, Greg)….

I don’t understand why Brad and Toni decided to hold their wedding at Cottage 4-2, instead of the Fuse, the venue owned by the groom’s parents and the best man. After all, TJ is in charge of catering the wedding and his catering operation is based at the Fuse. They even have Les, who works at the Fuse, working as a waiter. If they have Fuse catering and Fuse staff working the wedding, why didn’t they even consider having the wedding at the Fuse? They even spent more time considering a nudist camp as their wedding venue than they considered for the Fuse. (See http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2015/03/13, if you really want to.) Or if they really preferred the Cottage to the Fuse as a wedding venue, what is Les doing there? The fact that TJ was responsible for the food wouldn’t mean he was required to provide the waiters too.
Also, I question whether the Cottage would likely be willing to risk its liquor license by having a waiter who doesn’t work there serve wine to underage guests. We’ve seen that “Emily Love” (the manager of the Cottage) can be very rigid about the way things should be done, and I doubt she would approve Les serving wine to guests under age 21.
