What an interesting turn of events. Remember though we are no longer in grade school, nor high school, so the story lines develop, as opposed to staying trapped in time, as most comic strips.

I remember Dr. Heald. I believe her brother was Dr. Paind and her sister was Dr. Injurd.

Best part of the strip is the cell phone sound of death coming from Piro’s phone in panel. All that black definitely sends a message.

So, are we finally gonna get some backstory on Star-Head next week?

He has an Eeyore – like look to him and on top of that, is constantly running from something. (or someone?) It looks like he is waiting for Bernice to say something.ball’s on your court, Bernice: Say it or we’ll have to wait forever for it to happen.

Here’s another tidbit: a Dr. Heald ( a PhD) did the Foreword to the book “The New England Life of Cartoonist Bob Montana: Beyond the Archie Comic Strip.”

perhaps that’s Greg’s nod for the name.

Piro’s going to wind up as some sort of sympathetic (pathetic?) character. This will bring out Bernice’s Mother instinct. If they get hitched she’ll wind up a bitter widow with two lap dogs for company. Brrr.

I doubt if we will find out what type of Doctor Heald is during 2017. All the story lines move too slow. My guess is some type of mental health professional.

Piro, the Manchurian Candidate, is checking in for another subversive brain washing session. He is being programmed to be the college’s terrorist mole.

Holy crap, Bernice is nosy. Can we get back to Luann, please? Whatever’s going on with her has got to be more interesting (and less infuriating) than this.

Nosy? gimme a break. I guess we’re all nosy at this point. Bern has known Piro for a year and has not asked him a single question about himself… at least in front of us. And BTW Piro is answering this call in front of her. I think at this point Bernie is entitled to this tiny shred of information that just happened to dance in front of her eyes. A let’s remember Piro is the one who initiated this park bench interaction.

I’m googling’ Dr. Heald’ too and the 1st entry is a dermatologist in CT.

Piro has his weak link in Bernice, the person so enamored with him that he can convince her to aid him in his plot. She is ripe for becoming a hostage, or relaying his demands when he takes Tiffany hostage.

Not for even one panel, Bernice! Not even for one panel can Piro trust you before you go behind his back with filched information to try to investigate him.

Who do think you are, Bernice? His girlfriend? Ha!

Piro can always trust Bern to be a snoop. She is looking like good future ex-wife materiel!

I know that it reads “appointment” …but I get this feeling that it is his father.

the only other time we’ve seen a black speech balloon is when Gunther was answering Les’s question about Rosa.

I think Bern just got friend-zoned.

I wonder how “trustworthy” Bernice will seem when she shows up at the Doctor’s office?

Alright, it’s time to “Name Your Lame”!

What will Bernice’s explanation be when she gets "caught’?

1. “I have an appointment” (Hilarity ensues when the Doctor is shown to specialize in a) Proctology, b) Erectile Dysfunction, or c) Addiction Recovery?)

2. “I just happen to be in the area”. Setting is in a particularly seedy part of the township of Pitts.

Or will she break down and admit her obsession with Piro (pjɛʁo), who:

a) admits he is asexual and doesn’t return her feelings?

b) shows how he uses his ubiquitous scarves to hide his clerical collar?

Bernice is watching his back. No, scrutinizing his back. Very closely.

Wonder if Piro is really a registered student. Maybe he’s a fence climber whose real name is Pedro. Bernice may find Dr. Heald is a psychiatrist or doesn’t exist at all. Will Bernice follow Piro?

So many possibilities!!!
