If you have cats, better have it going over the back so the cat can’t unroll it. Of course, they’ll still try to take a bite out of the entire roll now and then.

Wow, I just got on to make an innocuous comment about the Foible Sunday this time including Toni, Brad and Nancy being the loving mother-in-law when scrolling through the first comments I already ran into a truly vile, bigoted troll comment, which I had to respond too. Sorry if I was offensive, but the comment was many degrees squared more offensive. Whew!! That being said, its nice to see the family relationship progress.

All this fuss over how a toilet paper roll is placed on the TP dispenser? Oh lord. Who cares? I never pay attention to whether the end of the TP should face outward or inward. I just put it on the dispenser and be done with it. Nobody in my family cares either. Does this behavior border on OCD?

SALLY-MARGARET – continued from yesterday, missed response to your modified post: Thank you, Sally – Margaret! Now I get it – involve the whole family with whom the identified patient has contact with and identify the root of the problem caused by various members of the family. That much makes sense. Adults in a child’s life have huge impact without us realizing. Blaming the child is nonsense – they are born with clean slates and it is us adults who corrupt them so yes, their behaviors reflect the family members. You get that, trolls? Shannon is innocent – if you need to blame somebody, blame anyone but Shannon. I think Jonah is the biggest culprit but Surely Aunt Toni contribute significantly to her behavior as a demanding attention seeker – because she indulges her out of guilt for her brother’s poor parenting. I think it would benefit for Toni to identify her behavior and realize her impact on Shannon’s behavior and stop indulging her and allow herself to discipline her, guide her, socialize her, etc.

For some folks that have a very small bathroom, they choose to have the paper roll over the back. It creates the illusion of more space.

In our house, under is the only way to get paper off the roll. If it’s over, only one or two squares come off at a time because of the angle it has to be pulled.

I like the paper draped over the top but what’s REALLY frustrating is how they’re making the rolls thicker/fatter so that when the roll is new, it’s so thick there’s no room for it to spin on the roll.

TP direction, seat up or seat down, how to fold and stack towels – in a long term marriage, you soon learn which battles are important and which are not.

It isn’t the worst solution, except that people don’t always pay attention to the small things — so whoever uses up the roll and has to replace it may forget which way the previous roll went, even if that person replaces it immediately. It’s never been much of an issue in my house; I just flip it to “over” (the right way) if I see someone has put the roll in “under.” Problem solved without a battle. Of course, if Brad consistently failed to replace the roll after using it up, that would be a bigger issue worthy of marriage counseling.

Get one of those freestanding pedestals. That way, the free edge is far enough away from the wall that over or under doesn’t matter. And, it’s repositionable. They should have asked for one in the gift registry.

Also, WHY did Toni feel she had to do the ‘Hotel V’? Paraphrasing, “I’ve had cats (loved ‘em), I’ve known cats. But you sir, you have no CATS!” So … what’s the big deal about all this??!!

This may be a tad off-topic, but I once worked in an office that was primarily female. We had one male employee. We did have a male bathroom and a female bathroom, but often the male bathroom was available while the female one was not. So, in an office meeting one day, we asked if it was okay if the females used the male bathroom when it wasn’t occupied. The male employee, without missing a beat, said, “Of course. Just be sure and put the seat up when your done!”
