This feels like the end of this particular storyarc. A shame, since nothing has been resolved and the overall plot hasn’t even really advanced at all (in other words, the character dynamic is exactly the same as it was before.) Everything after Tiffany left has been a complete waste. Oh well, maybe next week will be better.
Not to much harm here, and like I figured, Les is not as much as a thug, like so many want to pin on him, nor is Gunther so much as a wimp, as so many people love to pin on him. Some at the ArcaMax site put the onus on Al not solving anything, but that was not the point. He took a different approach to dealing with these two bozos, sort of father like, something they desperately need, and they heeded it by both quickly saying DON’T come over. It would be embarrassing. On that, it seems that the food fight results were reversed: its seems that Gunther has cake on him, and he was holding the cake, while Les has pasta on him, and he was holding the pasta. They can’t even do a food fight effectively. I call the this the Great TiffanyGate fiasco.
I was expected a giant food fight mess when the visual returned to Leslie and Gunther and I was a little disappointed actually. It won’t take Gunther but a few minutes to clean up that mess.
If Uncle Hitch only knew the truth about the avertion…………..Though it looks like Gunthie and Less got to take their frustrations out on the food fight. They seem content.
Middle panel: Greg enters his Jackson Pollock style. Third panel: Al signs off, and Greg exits the arc. Monday: Bernice goes in search of the mysterious dorm crasher.
The hijinks continue as they can’t agree who gets to use the shower first so they’re fighting in the shower, ripping each other’s clothes off, learning an important lesson in cooperation and becoming best pals.
Time for the Sunday stand-alone comic. So Monday we will see (1) Three’s a crowd (Luann, Jack & Tara); or (2) Toni is pregnant or they adopt Shannon; or (3) Fly on the wall time starring Ann Eiffel & Tom Farrell; or (4) G & K think of something else…
Is this the beginning of a new relationship between Gunther and Les? Has Tiffany really “had it” with these two? Will Al and Irma have a surprise announcement? Tune in three weeks from now when we hear Irma say: “Oh Alsie… I have a surprise in the oven for you.”
Mr. Gary deserves a strudel, and we deserve a new story arc. That should happen Monday, but the depressing thing is that this is just Round Two of the “mismatched roommates” thread that will probably continue at least until Greg runs out of ideas for it and likely even beyond that. (Round One was the furniture disposal, and the story was already tedious by then on account of all the whining that Gunther had been doing at the prospects of living with Les, even while the guest house was being built.) I hope the strip will turn away from this 3 Stooges style of “comedy” (which works far better on film than in a comic strip) and, whenever these two losers have to be featured, it will be not in terms of their relationship with each other but in terms of each one’s relationship with Tiffany, since she showed by walking out in disgust that she has just the right temperament to handle this story properly.
Hopefully, this arc is now OVER! I just hope that there aren’t an y permanent casualties…. the primary one being Gunther and Tiff. I hope they can work things out. I really think they are destined for each other. But we’ll see. At least Al is there to keep things from getting out of hand with Les and Gunth. I hope.
It’s an ongoing story. I’ll assume at some point we will pick this back up and see if they’ve learned anything from this. I like it, but there is only so much you can say in a three panel comic. We end this little arc and next we will be treated to Luann and Jack or maybe Brad and Toni. Time crawls in comic strip land. I don’t get worked up over stuff like that.
No blood, no bruises, and no broken bones. Their relationship is improving. Now, if the two of them figure out that Tiffany is a person and not a thing to fight over, I would say they were starting to grow up.
Knox obviously isn’t covered in cake. On top of being childish, Gunther doesn’t even have good aim. It vaguely looks as though Knox threw Gunther’s dish all over Gunther and himself.
Considering that Gunther has behaved in a manner that makes him look awful in every way, I wish Mrs. G. were coming over. She would see the real Gunther.
The shame really belongs to Gunther’s mom & Les’s uncle… neither deserve strudel. It was their hare-brained, not to mention selfish, idea to force these kids who obviously despise each other and have nothing in common, to live together.
Hmm. Al let me down. I thought his effort would have helped me to better understand this entire arc better, and especially help with understanding the rather silly food fight. But, alas, no.
Next week will probably be about the boys (our dynamic duo) cleaning up the damn mess they made.
Or, might we be lucky and we flip to another arc…. any other arc?
IMHO – the introduction of the “Leslie Knox” and “Al Gray” characters to the strip has been a detriment. “Les” is a bully and a jerk, with no redeeming qualities. “Al” is shifty, annoying, and sleazy; the “Irma” character deserves better that him. Just my “two cents,” you understand.

Hey. Les’ bowl is still full. Looks like the lads didn’t care for the leeks.
Gunther, the next young woman you meet? Be sure to make plans to spend all of your “quality time” at HER place.
And have “fun” cleaning up this mess….,

Maybe this strip needs to be renamed because Luann seems to be entirely forgotten in this mishmash of minor characters who’ve taken over.

And Big Al remains Mr. Wonderful in Irma’s eyes. At least that relationship is going well.
