Well, he called her bluff.

The bad news is, he’s not good at calling people’s bluffs.

C’mon Bets, as a Trek fan and general SF enthusiast, you’d be Snapgramming with all of Gunther’s Martian friends.

Arguments are like rabbits – they multiply on & on. Sometimes you just have to stop.

Ya know Gunther, that’s not a bad offer, make peace, but tomorrow discuss your & Bets concerns.

Gunther you miss the point!It is not about your friends, it is about how you spend your time on focusing on things that have no value to your girlfriend!

So Bets means any friends. Gunther shouldn’t have any friends to care about.

So, we’re finally seeing Gunther standing up for himself… twice no less. First with Luann and now Bets. I questioned the reason for the Luann arc at the time, but it seems that arc was the ground work for this one. Good going GnK! Assuming I’m right, then this arc is the predicesser for some significant Luannaverse event. Tune in tomarrow boys and girls (or next month, as the case may be).

And by “make peace” Bets means “shut up and stop talking about Tiffany and Bernice.”

Obsessing over obsessing is unlikely to result in peace. They are making each other unhappy. This makes me unhappy because I want everybody to be happy.

So we see that Bets is really insecure – we know nothing about her past, but she may have got dumped big time. I guess this is behind all the instagrams etc featuring Bets & Gun together – and all the public displays of affection. Note also that Bets didn’t seem to mind the gossip about them sleeping together as much as Gunther did. In this relationship, Gun can have female friends – but should not get drawn into their drama. Gunth is still upset that Tiffany went to the party instead of studying – too much fatherly behavior is now off limits. If Gunth wants a girlfriend – he can’t dive in every time he sees another damsel in distress. I think Bets is the first real date Gunther has ever had. Give it a chance to see if they grow together or grow apart.

Interesting, not a penultimate moment, the embers just dying out. Unless something more surprising happens tomorrow we won’t see a satisfying end to this argument with Gun(ther) and Bets. He is weird right Bets, but you seem to still want him anyway. She has always been a bit suspicious of Luann and Bernice, perhaps by intuition, not to put too fine a point on it, but she wants to be number one in Gun(ther’s) life. There still is no further resolution of the Tiffany arc, her descent into reverse growth, and Bernice is left clueless. For all my trying to figure out wiggly Greg n Karen, I think I will just be a sucker for what’s next.

Well, Gunther held his own. He stood firmly. Good for him. Bets knows she’s losing and just wants to drop the ball and stop. “Any MARTIAN lady friends” says she doesn’t want Gunther’s attention any place else but her. She doesn’t want him to have friends. She wants to be his only friend. This is an insecure girl who is making demands to calm her anxiety. She should have known Gunther is not the guy that would alleviate her insecurity at The Fuse when Luann came over to snoop. A huge clue there. More clues followed when they moved to another fast eatery when his lady friends kept calling. Right there, Bets should have said “Nice to meet you and thanks for the meal. Best wishes on your future dates” and exited the door.

One more strip tomorrow and this arc will be forgotten.

ya know i can see why she would be upset on this i give her credit on being honest with the guy but he’s just clueless on what she’s trying to say even though all of us here know what she’s trying to say.

I wonder.. If the situation had been reverse, would Gunther be so upset about her trying to ‘help’ her friends? I think not! she is selfish, self centered and (to me) just not the right one for him. Never thought so.

In that last panel Gunther is just being ridiculous. She could care less bout their gender and he …oh forget it, the Bets haters have made up their minds.

They are both tired and cranky – they need to go home and go to bed now.

Yep, I smell insecurity.

No, Gunther. She wants you to obsess over her like her social media followers do. The lady craves attention and she ain’t happy when you ain’t giving it to her.

I think that one of Bets heroes is Alex Forest from: “Fatal Attraction.”

Gunny better be careful here. Bets is a bit insecure but Gunther forgets little things like how he kept playing text tag with Luann on his first date with Bets. Also keep in mind that Bernice did go out of her way to get the couple “off the couch” earlier in the evening and you can bet that Bets picked up on Bernice’s jealousy and Bernice’s controling personality intensified the situation with her determination to find Tiffany and also to make sure no rules were violated on her floor as an RA. Tread carefully Gunther or you will be unattached and back to the Odd Couple/Bert and Ernie scenario with Les before you know it.

In the end it’s only the giving that makes you who you are.

Is that last bit a euphemism?

Well, Gun, you can be guy who has a girlfriend. Or you can be a guy who has female friends (with all the commensurate drama). But you can’t be both.

Dump her!!!

Make up kisses are always the best at night. She’s good for Gun and will help him to mature over time while going a great relationship between them. She seems to be beyond the kiddie games. Think she’ll accept Gun’s little quirks and innocence as sweet / annoying at times and nothing more. At least in her book he’s loyal and not a cheater but someone who would treat her with respect/care/romance.

We all know Gunther and who he is. We don’t know Bets very well, but she has to understand him or their relationship is doomed. Gunthers romantic interest is focus on Bets, but he has friends that are important to him and he not going to give them up.

Bets is a complex character. Sometimes I think she is controlling, sometimes I think she is justified. I’m not a fan of social media fetish, but I don’t think she is a villain.

Gun is a nit picker. He definitely over analyzes situations.

See how jealous she is and controlling? Dump her Gunther!

Pick your battles wisely. Do you really need to continue this fight? Do you want to? I am guessing. Gunther? Yea, he wants to fight. If he wants to break up, he doesn’t need to continue the fight. You don’t need a reason to end a relationship. If it isn’t working for you, end it. It will be interesting to see if the fight continues.

Gun needs to stand his ground. He places value on his friendships.

What Bets just pulled is a common argument ending ploy. Gunther just pulled out the big Gun and pulled the trigger. Bets was confronted with one aspect of possessiveness; jealousy. She senses that Luann and Tiffany have emotional history with Gunther. (Wait ’til she hears about Rosa.) Dragging Bernice into the mix was the give-away. Gunther had minimal interaction with Bernice.

I’ll admit Bets had a point in their early relationship, especially around interruptions in their dating via Luann and Tiffany phone calls. But the current episode was a brief, chance meeting with Tiffany. And in their last Comicon date, Gunther wanted to check out the booths and event and Bets wanted him to pose together for admiring attendees and her net posse. So her friends are different than his?

NO! Bets definitely has issues with Gunther having female friends or paying attention to anyone but her. He’s like male arm candy to her. Can you imagine! Gunther is arm candy! You Go, G-man! :o)

I knew she was insecure with his female friends.

Dump this insecure, clingy, meddling person. You are too good for her Gunth.

Bets = Comics creators. Gunther = Comics commenters.

he’s emotionally involved with people who have a minimal emotional investment in him. If he doesn’t come to his senses, he’s going to lose the person who WAS invested in him.

Bets has to accept Gunther caring for his friends; he has known them for most of his life.

One way drama occurs is when the covert becomes overt. Bets switched from Persecutor to Victim is three short panels.

Let’s look at an alternate panel 3: Bets turns to Gunther and says. “Gunther. I’m just afraid that you have so many females as friends that you’re going to lose interest in me.” That would have ended what looks to be a spat coming and open the channels of communication between the two.

I want to know Bets’s past…we learned what made Toni Daytona tick, and why she was attracted to a jerk like Dirk and gradually traded him for Brad. Needless to say, this will take forever, as anyone who has read the odyssey of Brad and Toni would know.

Sorry not sorry, but this is a borderline abuser red flag. She’s trying to restrict his friends and dismiss Gunther’s feelings.

Looks like Bets is trying to deny her jealousy. Let’s hope Gunther don’t just stop the argument like she wish. Now it’s the best occasion for make clear Bets’s feelings. Even if that will hurt.

I think it’s time for Guenther and Bets to practice some social distancing.

She is feeling insecure and as if she doesn’t matter in his life. And HE is not helping matters any. He needs to tell her she is number one but he also has friends he cares about. She needs to tell him she knows he cares but also that HE can’t fix everything for everyone. And it’s not a good idea to try to do that. Together they need to brainstorm how and if they can help Tiffany. Both have valid points but both are also being stubborn.

Gunth needs a mature friend who’s been down that road to give him measured advice; (someone who cares, will not interfere)

I think that Bets has a point. This was a date and Gunther spent way to much time dealing with other peoples issues. There is a point where you need to remember where you are and why and avoid issues. Especially if they are someone elses issues.

Seems like both Bets and Gunther have control issues. Just about different things. If this doesn’t get fixed, the relationship is over.

“Make Peace??” Gunther for Gaw’s sake! NOW is the time to tell Bets that YOU don’t like HER “obsessing” on social media!!! ARRRRRRGHH!! So there We have it. Gunther is expected to turn his back on his long time friends. But Bets is free to keep HER followers/fans on Instagram, Snapchat, whatever. Plus INVITE those followers/fans witness just about EVERY aspect of what SHOULD be a Private “Relationship.” Welcome to “Fairness,” 21st Century Style.

You know? I was one of those people that wanted Gunther to date Tiffany. And guess what? He is, in a manner of speaking, dating Tiffany. Bets is just as much a self-absorbed “drama queen” as Tiffany was/is. Bets is built about the same as the old Tiffany was. And Bets HAS what Tiffany always wanted: Legions of Fans and Followers. Little wonder that Bets and Tiffany get along so well. (SIGH)

Well, there is one possible silver lining, provided G&K incorporate the current crisis into the Strip. Social Distancing means no more snuggling and that Gunther and Bets will be separated and conducting their “relationship” over Social Media for the next few months. That MIGHT be a GOOD thing, being physically apart for awhile. It’ll give Gunther a chance to ponder if Bets is really WORTH the “price” she demands.

The BAD News is, Gunther will be Quarantined in the Gulag 24/7 with (GAG, VOMIT, COUGH) Les…..,

I repeat my comment from yesterday. Gunther dos not get Bets point (thinks she is jealous. What she wants is Gunther out of his friend’s drama.)

As far as we know, Bets is not involved in the lives of anyone, male or female, except Gunther. When they are out on a date, Bet’s phone does not ring with ex-boyfriends that need to be bailed out of jail; a ride to the hospital because they broke a leg jumping out a bedroom window; a ride because their car is broken down, was wrecked, or repossessed; got locked out by their current girlfriend, can they crash in Bet’s apartment?; etc. Bets is giving Gunther her full, undivided attention and expects the same from Gunther. A reasonable expectation.

Hey Guns, you should recognize a lifeline when you’ve been thrown one. DON’T screw this up with your usual passive-aggressive perfectionist foolishness. Luann is hopeless. Bernice is a meddling control freak. Delta is off somewhere. Toni is married. So is Luann’s mom. So is YOUR mom, mostly, and to some kind of gangster. Shannon is too young. Tiffany will ghost you as soon as you’ve bailed her out of this week’s crisis. I forget that Goth girl’s name at the moment, but she’s both off somewhere and apparently still hooked up with Knute. Rosa is thousands of miles away even if she still remembers YOUR name. And well, let’s just get it out in the open: you’re just not man enough or rich enough for Ann Eiffel. So not only is Bets pretty much your only option, she’s also a smokin’ hot young filly with a wicked sense of fun and a known propensity for wearing skintight anime outfits in public. GnK could probably charge otakus eighty bucks online for Bets body pillows right now (and @GnK I want five percent of the gross if you use my idea). OK, granted she was a bit naughty back there, but ONCE AGAIN Tiffany is an adult and it’s none of Bernice’s business if she wants to go to a party! Sheesh — who ever heard of a “Study Ball,” anyway? Look, just slide an arm around her waist, give her a little kiss on the neck, whisper “You’re right, this whole thing is silly,” and take her off for whatever her favorite snack is (you DO know what her favorite snack is by now, right? …Right?). Reaffirm that you’re committed to her, and never mind the Battle Angel outfit — I guarantee you she’s the type of girl who has a Wonder Woman costume at home. Magic lasso and everything. She’ll probably make you wear the bracelets, though.

Both of them need to breathe. I suggest buying a new action game and start slaughtering each other. I do not play them but have a friend who did that once and it seemed to work for him and his girl.

She’s just worried because she’s pregnant and Gunther is putting others ahead of her.

Hmm. Bets need some growing up to do. Gunther should step out for awhile & let her.

There comes a time in a person’s life ,when you have to step out of the drama club; especially when it comes to your friends. But apparently Gunther wants to remain a member of the 3Queens drama club for life. P.S. I’m not questioning his sexuality… just his immaturity.

He’s a beta male. Smart but boring. Mama’s boy. IRL, she would eventually dump him. Needs to find a boring socially inept woman that is more like him. ; )

Gunther’s last question is actually quite targeted (not picky). He is probing whether Bets has a problem w/ him paying attention to friends in general (martians, humans, cats) general or just those that are female. She wants all of his attention all the time? or does she just want to make sure she is the only female he interacts with (ever). When a couple goes to a party or event they don’t just talk to each other; it is normal to interact with others. That’s the purpose of going to the party.

They really CAN’T just “make peace.” They have to actually discuss what the problem is here.

Bets’ last comment, “can we just have peace?” is telling. Bets seemingly suppresses her negative feelings (much like Gunther). Perhaps if they start talking to each other about what they are feeling they can develop a mature relationship with each other. I hope it goes that way.

I knew Tiffany’s decision would have consequences, but I wasn’t expecting this.

Gunther, you’re NEVER going to have peace if you keep hanging out with Bets. Stay true to yourself and ditch the chick. She’s controlling, ruthless, possessive, and isn’t good for you.

Gunther needs a GF who doesn’t mind taking a back seat to Luann,Berniece and Tiffany whenever Gunther feels one of them is in need of his protection and guidance. And I can’t help but wonder how he would feel is Bets started focusing all her time and energy on several Guy Friends who desperately needed HER attention and guidance? Insecurity aside, most of us would not appreciate this level of a significant other in the lives of other friends especially if we do not know them well. Or, if in the case of Luann and Berniece, they were not especially warm or welcoming to us. Bets has issues but so does Gunther and this entire relationship is questionable right now.

He just needs to reassure her that she is the only true person for him!

Girl friends are rare for people like Gunther. The recommendation is to stay with it.

Tomorrow Tiffany receives a notice from the Dean’s office saying that her GPA has fallen below minimum standards and she has a semester to fix that problem or else she will be suspended.

They definitely need to discuss what their relationship means to each other, but not right now. They are too upset to talk calmly and already starting to say things they cannot easily retract. Take a brief break from each other to self-evaluate, sort out your priorities, then talk.

Greg’s concept of relationships is discouraging. Yep, pretty much as I remember it to be.
