A pie? What, pray tell in this situation, would make Luann think of a pie? I mean Tara is bailing. She’s going to take off her backpack and have some banana _pie!
So Luann is going to steal a slice or three of pie? Calling Jean Valjean! Also they left the back door open and the mysterious figure outside is (probably) still outside. (With GnK you never can tell because they don’t believe in continuity).
If they are already in the main room of The Fuse, and the shadowy figure did not follow them, it has to be a burglar taking advantage of the open door and is robbing the storage room while they are discussing pies and Tara’s cousin.
So many possible directions this could go. Will their snacking be interrupted by the arrival of the dangerous cousin wielding a length of pipe? or a security guard wielding a flashlight? or an all-night plumer with a toilet plunger? Or when they finish their pie and leave, will they walk past the closed storage room door, each imagining that one of the others closed it? Or will they go into the storage room to retrieve Tara’s bedroll and find someone using it? Or …?
Scenario 1: The intruder will surprise them and attack one of them, probably Tara. Luann will save the day by smashing the intruder in the face with a pie, giving the girls time to run like hell, jump in Luann’ car, and call the cops.
Scenario 2: Same action except intruder turns out to be a friendly.
There is no way a pie is NOT thrown after all this setup.
It suddenly hit me that the shadowy figure might be FRANK. Someone might have called him and said they saw activity and lights on at the fuse, so he went over to check and has some kind of “weapon” (a stick?) in his hand….
Bernice has spent two weeks of our time trashing Luann to everyone. Now this is it? The person outside will most likely be police officer with a flashlight. Or her cousin who they will hit with a pie and catch thus saving Tara from leaving town. Either way this could have taken 3 days not over two weeks.
For the Bernie haters this must be confusing, for the Tara stereotypers this must be hard to understand, for the Luann doubters, she is not selfish, but caring: the punch line for this arc will very likely involve pie in the face for whomever the stranger is, hilarity ensuing and all.
Here comes the cousin. Here comes the cousin. Look out folks, cuz here comes the cousin. (With apologies to SNL.) Or is this going to be like the pie fight in The Great Race?
Love to see how grateful Tara is to Luann♡. The Dear friend Luann who sincerely wishes her all the best♡♡. It’s nice to see Bernice apologize for her past opinion of Tara and see how Tara believes her sincerity and forgives Bernice ♡. Hopefully this means that Bernice’s prejudices about people will disappear and she will be able to become a true psychologist♡♡.
The shadowy figure is T.J., coming in to make the coconut cream and chocolate pies to fill the case. He’s going to meet Tara, hear the situation, and offer her a room in his new abode – the one he found because Brad and Toni have been hinted he should go so they can start a family. TJ and Tara will hit it off as they’re cut from the same cloth.
Well of course. Now we’re all best friends and can just hang out in this business after hours. No worries! We can have lots of fun and eat some pie. Go ahead and turn on all the lights while you’re at it. I love the way Luann can’t get enough of being the “popular” girl. Offer your parents business as a hide-out and then give away their inventory (it was Bernice who offered to pay). Luann has absolutely no common sense or concept of right and wrong. Her attention span is short and she can be distracted by any random thought. All she does is swing through life without a clue as to what’s going on around her. Definitely nothing at all between those ears.
Um, whatever happened with the dark human figure who seemed to be lurking outside the Fuse in Saturday’s cartoon? There was a lot of discussion about it, and today, it’s like it never appeared.
Did I miss something? What happened to the mysterious figure? Maybe she will show up for some pie! Glad to see Bernice and Tara reconciling. Maybe the pieman cometh with a delivery? Seems they have all the lights on? This segue is strange. Maybe some clarity tomorrow?
So, we wait all weekend to find out who the dangerous stranger is, and we get pie? (I love pie, but my least favorite is banana creme!) Is the mysterious man a stranger or related to Tara? Hopefully we won’t have to wait until the end of the week to find out! And, what does he expect to accomplish at that time of night? The money will be locked in the safe and there’s very little worth stealing at the Fuse.
The shadowy figure is Ben, who as a former army sergeant is showing them why you never leave a building unsecured. Expect everything to be rearranged if not missing.
(Seriously, watch Full Metal Jacket if you want to know what I mean. That part about the unlocked footlocker is definitely true to life.)
let’s hope that Luann pushed the door shut before they walked into the interior of the Fuse. but i think Tara’s cousin is carrying a crow bar or something to use to pry open a door.
The intruder only has the one weapon, a club or knife. Maybe she is waiting to get Tara alone to harm her. It would be harder to attack 3 people with a club.
Maybe the dark figure is just a contracted security guard. The girls would have a lot of explaining to do. If the dark figure is as sinister as he looks – who is going to come to the rescue?
Hmm… well… at least it looks like Bernice and Tara have come to better terms….. and they may all have a belly filled with pie……. before the evil “SLASH-inator” cousin comes in to wipe out all three of them like in a horror movie.
So, obviously that will not be how Greg moves this story along….. but how will it proceed?
A) Pie is consumed, cousin confronts Tara, but it gets resolved.
B) Pie is consumed, cousin causes some sort of ruckus, and police are involved and she is hauled off to the hoosegow.
C) Pie is consumed, the trio exit out the front door and go on their merry way, never noticing the evil cousin.
D) Pie is consumed, as they leave, they see Ben waiting. He was trying to make sure Bernice was safe….. but now he is disgruntled that he didn’t get any pie.
Better get a pie, just so everyone who works here will know someone was here after hours. Don’t worry, it’s Berenice’s treat. She’ll leave some cash around so everyone who works here will definknow someone was here after hours.
Si es una mujer policía quien acecha afuera de The Fuse y decide entrar en el momento en que Luann toma un pay, podría acusarla de robo siendo sorprendida en el acto.
So Bernice, is Luann going to get an apology from you at some point, or do you figure you’ll do what you usually do and just forget all your wrongdoing ever happened?
Though maybe Bernice is going to be like Luann and give the apology as a Christmas gift. Maybe put it in a nice box too, since Luann is fond of giving empty boxes as gifts.
Nothing inherently wrong with a banana pie, Luann. But I sense something in the offing here, what with that shady character we saw lurking outside The Fuse last week, and the (allegedly) comedic use of banana cream pies so often in film or TV….
Tara’s cousin slips in unnoticed (nobody’s watching the door that Luann left wide open) and hides until everyone is gone.
Once she’s alone, she robs the cash register and destroys the place.
The cops tell the insurance company that there were no signs of forced entry and conclude that the vandal got in due to negligence on the part of whoever locked up, so the claim is denied. Frank and Nancy lose everything.
Of course the real fun begins when the security tapes are reviewed and they find out what Luann’s been up to.
Greg has been waiting for the 365 (366 in leap year) ideas to come in, at which point he’ll throw them all down the stairs to decide which the mysterious stranger will be and what Luann/Tara/?Bernice will do about it. You all really get into this hip deep. Guys, it’s only a comic strip!
