Wait.. So Jonah even drops off Shannon, on a whim, when Toni isn’t there? WTH??

Where does he get off thinking his auditions are more important than a firefighters plans? He needs to pay other people to sit Shannon. And we all know ‘Primo Audition’ really means he’s hooking up with some chick.

Maybe Brad could pay TJ to take Shannon somewhere, so he can salvage his plans with Toni?

Reminds me of a conversation my sister once had with me, in that how was it we turned out completely different despite having the same mom?

Jonah sure knows how to handle his life, doesn’t he? Career first, family second.

Don’t even ask first, just Dump? Well at least they are marshmallows :o/

Oh goody, we get to watch Brad be a doormat yet again. And it looks like I was right yesterday when I said that the brat feels entitled to barge in without knocking.

Gosh! Jonah actually came into the house. Most of the it’s like Shannon had to leap from his moving car. A marshmellow cannon’ is that a real thing? Jusr wait till she’s 14 and Jonah gives her her first AR-15.

Just say ‘sorry, we’ve all got appointments etc too’ and shut the door. And insist that in the future he arranges beforehand to leave Shannon. I understand why people end up being doormats about looking after relatives’ children, but it infuriates me when I see family having to give up their own lives and activities to take on other people’s kids. It’s one thing when it’s an emergency, another when it’s a regular ‘my life is so disorganised/I am too selfish’ situation. No wonder Toni isn’t keen on having kids of her own – Jonah would just leave Shannon permanently with them: ‘oh well, you’re doing life with yours, what’s one more!’

Someone needs to shoot Jonah with a Mr. Stay-Puff man.

We got an inch of snow here in N. Alabama. A vert rare White Christmas… well… it is the Second Day of Christmas! My laser light display is just spectacular. 8^ )

I had a sister-in-law who raised three kids for my brother. But when the youngest was out of the door she get a job at Wal*Mart So she wouldn’t have any time to look after any grandkids. Smart!

If Shannon was my kid, I’d also be dumping her off at other people’s houses at every possible opportunity. Even faking auditions and callbacks if need be.

I do, however, fault Jonah for not dropping the kid off at Fantastic Sam’s to deal with her Lego Man hairdo.

TJ does not think Shannon is cute. Nor is she.

Oh Yay! It’s Shannon! Look everybody! Shannon is here! And she brought marshmallows. 8^ (

Jonah’s a selfish inconsiderate flake, but Tony is an enabler and now Brad is too.

Either they learn to say no, or they accept that Shannon is and will always be their problem.

Guess we’ll see which one it is.

Jonah doesn’t even ask. He should get a sitter sometimes – but he would probably say he can’t afford it. Jonah needs to wait tables more and suspend his acting tryouts until he has saved some money and doesn’t expect his sister and her family to pick up the slack for him every time in perpetuity.

Shannon is a McGuffin, created to be bratty. But she is a main characther with a very diffivult back story, so achingly hinted at, while she beautifully tears up the scenery andi innocently skewers asult characters who so deserve it (Ann Eiffel anyone?). Can’t wait to see what this adorable 75 millimeter howizter (purely metrhahorical, din’t make me have to DUCK -:)) characer device does next. Oh wait, a tired, sexy Toni is on her way. By the way Toni is her loving, patient, weary auntie. So…?

Brad Degroot had the holidays off while Toni worked the holidays. Would they leave Shannon with TJ?

Allowing themselves to be dumped on is ridiculous.

So how’s married life treating you so far, Brad?

Seriously, there’s not a family court judge on the planet who would not approve Toni and Brad adopting Shannon. Not only that, it would be absolutely the best thing for the child. Open adoptions are not that hard to get approved. Jonah can still be part of his child’s life, just not as the legal parent, but the biological father. C’mon, Greg; don’t you think it’s long past time you wrote all of this into the strip?

Ooohh! Fun!! As long as she does not discover that that thing could launch dwarf hamsters as well.

That kid needs some “applied psychology”. She’s rotten because she’s allowed to be rotten.

Gosh, Bwad, maybe the people in Jonah’s life enable him and let him do whatever he wants. But who could those people be?

Hey fellow fans, here’s an arc: Jonah is told “No”, so, being a responsible parent, he leaves his precious daughter on the street outside his audition site. She gets snatched up by some perv…oops, too much reality?

Come on TJ, Shannon isn’t that bad, she’s just an energetic kid. Seeing what a mess her father is, it’s great that Shannon is such a happy little girl. If it weren’t for Toni, Brad and TJ, I don’t think she would be like that.

How did he know Brad was home? He talked to Toni. She’s the one letting this happen. Brad doesn’t want to make Shannon feel unwanted. She gets enough of that from her dad, but he needs to discuss and decide on the boundaries with Toni and then Toni is the one who would set those boundaries with Jonah. Jonah would never listen to Brad.

Still waiting for the Ann Eiffel as Shannon’s mom reveal. That would be so epic!

As expected, Jonah shows up to predictably dump the kid on Brad and Toni, just when they are about to enjoy some fleeting “free time” together. Can you say “Impeccable Timing” boys and girls?

And BEHOLD!

In one fail swoop, with his untimely arrival, Jonah has managed to wipe that annoying “grin” off Old Smiley’s face, and has claimed it for his own! it’s truly a holiday miracle!

Considering how lousy 2022 has been, ending it with a Shannon arc is rather appropriate.

Just 5 more days, then welcome 2023!

In fairness, Brad and Toni have given Jonah the impression that they’re available for baby sitting when he needs it.

And where was Jona on Christmas? You can bet he sure wasn’t with Shannon, Brad, Toni, and TJ.

A primo audition in the days after Christmas? G&K must no be very familiar with this business.

And Jonah i not married to Shannon’s mom because…..? If there were some family isues between them, was there no serious effort to resolve them?

“Sorry for the dump”…. Is Jonah referring to the act of dropping Shannon off without any advance notice or permission… Or is he just talking about himself in general?

We all know someone like Jonah. If he weren’t dropping the kid off with relatives, he’d be stowing her in the trunk of his car.

Nothing like a week of Shannon to have folks asking for a change! ;-). We’ve heard this song before, a change is overdue. Come on, TJ, how about some inspiration! =:-o

I see Shannon being adopted by Brad and Toni in the future.

Jonah is a user, always was, always will be. He never asks in advance, just shows up, dumps Shannon and runs. Maybe he could hire a babysitter? Never happen. Just a cheap SOB.

TJ’s mouth would be an easy target!

Maybe Brad and Toni feel sorry for Shannon; she’s got to know that her dad’s just getting rid of her, yet again. Poor kid.

Gotta face it. Luann, the comic strip, ain’t what it use to be. Once they graduated from high school, it stopped being funny. I didn’t cause it, I can’t fix it.

Toni and Brad don’t have legal custody of Shannon. When are they going to persuade Jonah to let them adopt her or at least be her legal guardians? They may not want that, but they wind-up with her all the time anyway. And she is growing up. She doesn’t say “Bwad” anymore.

Jonah needs a reality check he can’t keep on dumping Shannon off at his sisters home.

I am tired of Shannon and that whole storyline. Disheartening to see someone letting someone else walk all over them in such a way. To me this is not amusing in any way.

Well,at least it’s not a “Ralphie Air Rifle”.

I believe he really has an audition. If he were hooking up with some chick I think that cat would be out of the bag by now. But the real issue is—-Jonah needs to get a real job! With regular hours.

Usually TJ cheerfully steps up and occupies Shannon so Brad can do other things. But he’s not so thrilled this time; maybe he had other plans too.

so, I know this has probably been explained somewhere…but, where is Shannon’s mother? I cannot for the life of me remember what the story was with her.

Rule of thumb: no one can ever take advantage of you, without your permission.

TJ – quick get out the yams – Shannon brought marshmallows. I prefer baked apples with marshmallows on top. Yum

A number of commenters here have inquired as to what happened to Shannon’s mom. As mentioned previously, Shannon’s mom ran off right after she was born. Now, a person who flaked on her own kid permanently might be inclined to have done other things as well, leaving the question, is Jonah really Shannon’s dad?

You teach people how to teach you. This has gone on too long. They need to set some boundaries!

Toni will wreck him the next time she sees him.

What’s going to happen when Jonah gets a part in a tv show or play or something? Rehearsals, performances – he’s going to have even less time for Shannon when that happens. Brad and Toni need to be her legal guardians and TJ needs to find a place of his own. It’s weird that Brad keeps him around.

So G&K continue to resurrect old gags and storylines and do nothing new with them. After all this time Brad and Toni still allow Jonah to dump Shannon on them. And Shannon has the joy of knowing she is being dumped. I just don’t understand why this comic doesn’t evolve.

Where is Shannon’s mother?

Three takeaways from today’s strip:

1. Jonah finally appears in-strip (I’m surprised that I seem to be the first to specifically say that);

2. We see that he did not totally neglect Shannon over the holiday, as evidenced by the marshmallow shooter (yes, it’s really a thing) he gave her; and…

3. We learn that Jonah has an agent. But it makes me wonder how he can afford one.

People get so angry and worked up over a bunch of fictional characters in this comic more than seemingly any other.

If you hate it so much, stop reading. It’s easy.

Ugh! A double dose of disgust today! Con-men Jonah the Fake Actor and TJ the Lying Thief; pawning off uncivilized Shannon yet again.

Jonah the peroxide blond more likely is off to his job as a dancer in a gay bar….

And so, Brad, as another day sinks into the dead file, what do we think of ourselves? Do the spineless ever have proud moments? Toni better be worth it.

Don’t know why but I suspect this is the beginning of a new plot line… (as in where Shannon will live permanently)

TJ is really acting out of character. USUALLY he is happy to see Shannon (something about having the same type mentality, I think) I’d hate to think of TJ REALLY growing up and letting himself become a cranky old fool !

Im in 2024 reading these 2022 strips, hope Jonah is dead by now.
