I like the fact that Luann has been seen frequently in this comic strip the past several weeks. Are these people in today’s strip going to become Luann’s friends? I don’t care so much about the dorm room drama and prefer the focus be more on Luann.
Thank you the guy next to Luann for not pushing her aside and taking over. Thank you for listening to her. You’ve saved Mrs Horner’s life by doing that.
Luann acted calmly – pulse – respiration – mindful of the fact that the ocarina winded her and probably caused the light head which put her on the floor. Next step, get the dummy out of there. He’s a freak and will get in the way.
IMPORTANT! This could simple fainting or a critical stroke. Greater chance of the latter if an elder.
That means the GOLDEN HOUR rule applies. CALL 911 NOW! If it IS a stroke and they can get medical attention ASAP then their chances of recovery and less tissue damage is much much better. Don’t risk delaying.
Google “Golden Hour Stroke” for more detailed information that everybody should know by heart. Please. Your loved ones someday may depend on it… and on you.
And when someone FINALLY _does _ suggests calling for “Help,” Tara, whom I thought had more “courage under fire,” screams at the top of her lungs instead of making an easily available phone call to 911.
I really hope “help” shows up for Mrs Horner before the month is out. ;-)
Looks like Luann is destined to work in some facet of Health Care. She has good reactions and already knows what she is doing among her clueless classmates.
There was a show called World’s Dumbest. They showed videos of people being morons. One had an accident where someone is screaming: “WHAT IS THE NUMBER FOR 911!” I am not lying, LOL!!
YES! Luann just did the best thing of all — instead of saying “someone, call help,” she picked someone specific and asked them to call help. In a crisis, just asking the crowd to do a task almost guarantees it won’t happen, as everyone mills around wondering who should do it. It’s far better to pick someone and tell them specifically to do it.
Seems like everyone in the class, except Luann, and, the hulk in the letterman’s jacket, freaked out at Mrs. Horner’s collapse. Considering Tara’s history, surprised she forget to use her cell to call for help, when Luann told her to call for help.
HOORAY! Mrs Horner is alive and Luann continues to be amazing! She knows what to do and guides others. Meanwhile, Tara is panicking. She watches the scene frozen and starts screaming unable to understand what Luann asked her. Tara, who always try to avoid responsibility and just wants to have fun, doesn’t know what to do. I think this might lead Tara to reflect on her life and decide to change it. She already admire firefighters, seing Luann now might inspire her to become a paramedic, maybe together with Luann.
Well we now know Tara is not good in a tense medical situation. Many smart people aren’t. And Luann has proven on at least two separate occasions that she IS. Now, that’s a valuable asset to “fill up her slate”. If this is a career clarifying moment, as some have said, I hope she will shoot for the stars and become a doctor! She might make a good one and imagine the richness for potential arcs for many years as she takes pre med classes and then goes on to medical school.
I think the sad part of this is, all those college students standing around, and not one of them smart enough to dial 911. except for LuAnn, who is busy.
That dude is awfully proud of his community college letterman’s jacket. Are those even a thing, or is it just another manifestation of Greg’s apparent belief that college is just a continuation of high school?
Am I the only one who remembers when Luann gave CPR to Bernice (I think she bumped her head on the floor in gym class), despite the fact that Bernice was breathing and her heart was beating?
You’re supposed to tell them, Call 9-1-1. In CPR/First Aid class we were told to be specific with instructions because people often are scared and need to be given simple, straightforward directions.

OK, this level of silliness is due to this being a Luann dream, as was suggested by CatherineCreamer when we first heard “thunk.”
I mean really, do you really believe Tara is dumb enough to do what was shown here?

You should check for a carotid pulse Luann. Not a radial pulse.
