Sniff.. Sniff.. I’m not crying!… You’re crying! ;)
I think that’s why Toni is always so agreeable to babysitting Shannon. She was raised by her Aunt and Uncle and sorta feels the need to pay it back , for lack of a better term.
Toni kthoughy balloon): “Hmm, as much of an imposition as having Shannon part-time is on our lives, it must have been more of an imposition for Aunt & uncle to have twins foisted on them full time. Maybe instead of complaining, Brad and I should offer to do more.”
My first real bf likewise had been orphaned and raised by an aunt & uncle. They were so surprised and pleased when I thanked them for having taken him in and raising him so well.
Is this gawd awful arc almost over? Seriously… the return of Ann❤️Eiffel is LONG overdue with the insipid cheap drama crapola they’ve been churning up for months.
Looking at Toni’s face in the last panel. The Evanses are so good at creating facial expressions that are deep and subtle at the same time, with just a few lines.
A definite “aww” moment (as opposed to an “awe” moment, which implies marveling and wonder, not solidarity or sympathy with an expression of emotions).
Sweet chat, very interesting too. This is the first time Toni talks about an uncle, until now we only knew about her aunt, that nice and a bit weird person who came to her wedding playing PokemonGo. So either he will be a newh or he’s no longer in her aunt’s life. However, this reinforces my theory that Shannon will see her great-aunt again sooner or later. And maybe her great-uncle too.
Looks like there’s been a big breakthrough for Shannon (nothing like a meltdown to get your head on right). They need to watch out for a relapse if Jonah calls to say he needs more time. I’m glad Toni is back to being her kind and caring self, instead of the little lady that did the gaslight number on Frank and Nancy about having a baby. Maybe she can fix Shannon’s hair? They could do a fun trip to the beauty shop.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Evans for listening to my prayers and turning the strip, “Luann and Her Doofus Friends” into “The Adventures of Toni and Brad.”
How much older than Jonah is Toni supposed to be? Luann is 19, Brad is a few years older and Toni is close to his age, so maybe 24. Jonah has a 6 year old daughter, so he must be at 22. So there is probably not more that 3 years difference between Toni and Jonah. I think he got most of the same parenting from his parents that Toni did.
I am picturing an unexpected run-in with Ann Eiffel – She and Shannon display similar personality traits, facial expressions and answer a question in unison with the exactly the same response. Do it Greg!
I wonder if the sudden introduction of the uncle was an oversight or if the Evanses have something in mind with it. It’s definitely confusing, at least for me. But for some readers, this is the first they’ve heard of Toni and Jonah being orphaned and raised by their aunt. With such a large cast, it would be hard to start adding more detail about all the deceased or deserting parents. No one would remember it anyway, probably including the creators!

Sounds like Toni and Jonah had really good parents.
Too bad that all the good seems to have rubbed off on Toni exclusively.
And speaking just for Me, it would be nice to find out more about Toni’s mom.
And Tiffany’s mom.
And Gunther’s dad.
And Les’ dad.
And Bets’ alleged “crazy” family.
PS: If that “aunt” that Toni was talking is the same one that showed up at her wedding, then THAT “aunt” was a total FLAKE. ;-)

It’s good to see Shannon and Toni like this. Yes, Shannon may step on your last nerve sometimes, but she is just a child…

What dastardly reason do GnK have to give the Shannon character a sweet, sensitive side to her well-established bratty, self-centered nature? ;-)

This was nice. Mrs, DeGroot has lengthy powers (snuggling and kindness).

Can’t explain it, but I gotta feeling Toni is pregnant—and undecided about what to do about it.

Brad and Toni are SO MUCH more interesting/fun than Luann

Shannon isn’t such a bad kid after all. She just needs a little love and understanding. Brad and Toni give her just that.

Nothing like having a kid to make you face how you were parented.

Pretty impressive how her golem hairdo doesn’t move even when she’s lying down on a pillow.

Good thing that like Blondie Bumstead, Toni only has the one facial expression. Otherwise that third panel might have conveyed something.

Do you see some ominous real world foreshadowing here? Like maybe Shannon’s dad being killed in a plane crash or some such thing?
