Favor or no favor, Baba would’ve looked after the kits no matter what …

Those little tin can kit papooses are beyond adorable! I think Baba likes the idea of having little ones to take care of again. Of course, by sunset, she’ll probably be rethinking that decision. But her word is her bond, and she WILL keep them safe.

Mags and Baba coming together. You gotta think the lawn potatoes are going to feel their wrath. And the kits are such cuties.

Who is filming all this? Is it Breaking Raccoon News?

I think I’m gonna cry…

Okay she DID see the broadcast.. which still raises the question why she didn’t help the cats, but I suspect Baba saw this was going to get worse and assumed, like we all did before the sacking of the great dumpsters, mags would take care of it. Which she is, it’s just clearly going to take more. This is the first time since Wicket we’ve had a full on threat in the strip and it’s harrowing not binging it all at once this time. I genuinely have no idea how or even if our heroes can get out of this.

Mags, I don’t think you needed to cash that favour in. Baba would never turn kits away.

Only 13 more days until August begins. Jules better get a move on if he’s going to be any help at all. Just saying…….we need a hero!!! (That was Bo and Hope’s theme song on Days of Our Lives. The same soap that brought us Patch/Steve, the inspiration for Kit Chase.)

I love Baba’s hand on Mag’s shoulder to comfort her. She’s ready and willing to help.

And Mag’s sad face and wringing hands. We’ve never seen her so vulnerable.

And when we needed her the most, she came.

Are we sure Baba is out of range of those miscreant moles?

Surely the humans have seen this by now, this didn’t happen in one night.

We briefly had a rescued raccoon kit (fell down inside one of our walls from the attic and had to be sawed out) and when our momma cat saw it she was instantly outraged and tried to murder it. Poor little critter was so scared! Fortunately we were able to reunite it with its momma and siblings. Our yard raccoons get on okay with the neighborhood feral cats most of the time, but our inside cats were not having it.

I can already hear the kits drowning Baba with questions-Why did those fuzzy potatoes, attack us? Did you take your mask off? Are you our Grammy aunt?

Baba and Mags respect each other, though they have differences. I agree she didn’t have to cash in that favor. It’s Baba’s way to look after the littles.

While she almost certainly did not need to call in the favor, I believe there is a certain symmetry to to it — using the favor she got for helping rescue a kitten in order to protect her kits.

OMC, the littlest kits in Mag’s shoulder cans! I didn’t notice them yesterday. Squeeeee!♥

Ancient cat take care of raccoon kits? Now me has seen everything.

I have a feeling when this is all over, Baba will tell Mags that the favor owed still stands. Baba would have watched the kits regardless. It’s her heart nature. No favor needed for that.

I’m guessing that Princess Magazine (panel 3, with the !) is going to be the Bea of raccoons. She seems not only surprised that Mags will be leaving them behind, but I suspect she may want to be where the action is by her body language.

My monitor appears to be a tad inferior.

Our cat used to kill shrews all the time, send in the cats.

Off Topic, sort of, question:

I haven’t heard that old saying in years! My mother used to use it, instead of more grownup words, in front of us kids. Of course it is so appropriate because the complete saying is “Ye gods and little fishes” which includes food for littles:)

Above all else, Baba has one primary rule: You don’t mess with the little ones.

The kits are definitely in safe paws with her.

I keep noticing the kits in the cans … the one on our left keeps sinking lower and lower; in that final panel, all we can see is the top of its head and its ears.

Aw. That’s all I have to say. Aww, kinda sad but also cute. Does this mean the racoon kits will become friends with the kittens..?

Nice to see two old foes come together in common cause.
