I think some hotels are now calling their rooms suites, and separating the ones that “Daddy Warbucks” gets as “Grand Suites”, to separate elevate differentiate those from the… “more common” ones….

As the characters grow older, I find myself liking the Tiffster more. She is not as dumb as she pretends, nor as “experienced.” And she makes Luann look frumpy every time, even though Luann is not at all bad looking. Tiffany amuses me and brings liveliness to the strip, so I’m glad she’s in the suite down the hall from Bernice and the mysterious Dez of NYC….

A “suite” in college is nothing fancy. Two or three bedrooms connected by a small common room and a bathroom. Pretty bare bones when I was at school. The term just distinguishes the dorm setup from a single room with a hall bathroom.

In college dorms a ‘suite’ is a cluster of rooms around a common bathroom. My experience was two singles and two doubles sharing a lavatory with two sinks, one toilet and one shower.Still, Tiff on the same floor? Eeek.

Is MoonieU in town? If so, I wonder why they would live in the dorm. It’s much cheaper to live at home. When will we see Quills’ room?

So, since this strip doesn’t seem to end in a “cliffhanger,” then perhaps we might switch arcs on Monday an not meet Dez for a while. Maybe we will go back to TJ or Brad & Toni. Or, perhaps, it will be Lu preparing for Pitts CC.

Or, perhaps, our first glimpse of Peru…??? ;-)

What we know about Dez:- She’s from New York, therefore probably rich or smart enough to be on scholarship- She has a diverse group of friends who have quickly gotten close to her, therefore she is probably nonthreatening and likeable- The mask on the wall indicates she is either well-traveled or has an eclectic taste in art*Sounds like she’ll be a great add-on to the strip!

When I was in college, my dorm was arranged in “suites”. There were 3 rooms to a “suite” with 2 girls in each room. Each “suite” shared 1 bathroom. That may be what this is referring to or it could just be Tiffany being Tiffany.

Agree! Sick of Tiff. Never seems to be payback for her attitude and treatment of people.

Not too many colleges have dress codes. And any college that enforces the dress code in the dorms, before classes start, while students are still unpacking, is a college that Bernice or Tiffany would be extremely unlikely to attend.

How did tiffany get into college with HER grades?

Lets see if I understand. Supposedly brainless Tiffany had the grades to get into Moony U, while Luann didn’t ? Luann’s doomed.

Dez is known by many names — Number One, Vera Peterson, Maris Crane, Wilson Wilson, etc.

All this concern about Dez, coed dorms…er, suites, living at home or whether Moony U is private or public. I just wonder why Tiff went to a University.

Google Masked Beast dez Guardius, Flame Viper (Flame Snake), Sun Dragon, and you will have the answer to what these three new characters are interested in. Cards, game and names that represent their rolls in the game is what this mystery is all about. Of course, as always this strip is about opposites attracting, so we will have some interesting story lines to read in the future.

While not a Yale, Mooney is not some small, obscure University. We saw some of its buildings..Mooney U has enough of a reputation that Quill was allowed to go there by his parents to study Dramatics. Perhaps it has major links to Hollywood, which would help explain Tiff..It may be close enough for Luann to commute (with difficulty) but Pitts CC may be much closer. But Luann will not be cut off from Mooney. The head of the Mooney Drama department thinks Luann is ‘a genius.’ She may have a part-time job there. ,Has our famous actor, Jonah, any contact there?.Quill will probably dorm at Mooney. His folks would have set that up (paid the bill). Gunther’s house may be too far away, and was obviously not in the Quill family plan when he left Australia.

Tiffany will be nearby, her focus is on drama, too. There may be other kids we know there. Crystal is perhaps the best candidate. .Where was Bernice’s old boyfriend studying? (The one in the wheelchair?).Even Mr. Fogarty may be at Mooney in some capacity..So Mooney will be the scene of future action, replacing Pitts High School...Yet Pitts CC may be a scene of action too. Knute could be there. Ox, and others as well. ..URK! Ann Eifel may pop up at Mooney or Pitts CC in some capacity. .We may not see Diz for a while. .We may next switch to Quill moving in to his dorm. We need some ‘hunk’ to emerge with an interest in Luann and/or Bernice..Moreover, we have to deal with T.J. and his insurance claim. If he gets the money, he may take classes somewhere..Finally, we must have Brad’s wedding. But I predict that will stay on hold for a month or two while the “college scene” gets well established.

I believe the term ‘junior college’ has been widely replaced with ‘community college.’

What was originally called the ‘local junior college’ seems to be Pitts CC.

The “rock paper scissors” was going to be a literal battle using all three, if you had Tiff Viper and Sun in the same room…. safety scissors, of course,….

Public schools have dress codes. Some ridiculously severe.

Public “colleges?”

For high school and below, you are dealing with kids/minors and trying to teach them something. College isn’t (or, at least, shouldn’t be) about that level of training. I’d think the college student should be well beyond that in re: maturity. As long as the attire falls within the general public standards of decency (I’d not expect a Speedo or “Fio Dental” at a college lecture hall), I don’t think the Univ. would care.

If “full pajamas” (i.e. flannels, etc., with blouse and pants), probably acceptable! ;-) Wouldn’t have happened in my school, though, especially in the winter. One could, literally, see students walking the main drag on campus in “slow motion” à la “Six Million Dollar Man…”

I’d probably dread having to go to lecture these days, what with “yoga pants” etc., causing incredible distractions…. :-PPP

She didn’t…. Not yet…. She’s in a “community college.” A bit easier to get into, I think.

It wasn’t blackmail because Tiffany wasn’t going to show the picture to anyone. She only took it because Luann was going to tattle on her (for a crime that the teachers wanted to thank Tiffany for).

And what crime would that have been? Can you point us toward the strips where this happened? All the articles I’ve seen have called it “blackmail.” Tiff took the picture of Luann and threatened her with it. Luann refused to comply, so Tiff published it on the net. She was caught (reflection in the camera), and was suspended as a result.

“Saturday Night Live” long-time announcer Don Pardo passed away Monday at the age of 96.

Rest In Peace, Don.

Yeah, he passed on Monday 08/18.

I know most recall him from SNL, but I will always remember him as the announcer on the Art Fleming version of “Jeopardy.”.

Well, I guess that answers any questions anyone had about Tiff…

the strips in question run around May 30 2005 … actually a week or so before that for the background of Tiffany taking and posting a video of Fogarty and Phelps dancing. Tiff is tricked into admitting it , and to prevent Luann from spilling the beans she takes video of Luann changing and threatens to post it too.

Then RB was right. it is true that Lu drew first blood in this incident. Although, I would suspect the "sexting of a minor’ is a bit more severe than the taping of two adults dancing.

Does it strike anyone else as odd that Dez is from NYC yet so many people at MU already know her? Didn’t they just get there?
