Hey, Argy, it really was a paralel to the “Prom-isaster”, with a bus to come pick Gunther up, just like back then!!! – I guess the bus trip should be fine.. As long as Godzilla doesn’t happen by, on the way to Mothra’s house, or something. Or as Long as Gunther doesn’t perform “Yakety-Yak” (emphasis on the yak) on one of the “Señorita Seniors”…
“The Mother Lode”“I’m Just Plaid About You!!!”“Lovely Senior, Rita” (♫)“Learning To Fly, But I Ain’t Got Wings” (♫)“Good Day, Sunshine!!!” (♫)“Working The Senior Circuit”“Gunther’s Dream Job”“Gunther And The Road Trip Warriors”“Getcha Motor Runnin’ (♫)“The New Mayor Of Sun City”or “Over Easy Rider”
This could be fun… most seniors are fun loving and figure at their age, ‘who cares?’. Gunther could learn a lot from all of the grandmas and grandpas… who raised up a whole generation or even two. they have wisdom and experience… It’s likely that they will listen to his story with sympathy and be able to give him good advice. He should take it into consideration; knowing that they have been there and done that…
I had a boss who used to take senior weekend bus trips to the various casinos around the state. He said they (the seniors) are the wildest bunch of people he ever traveled with. They are not up tight or judgmental and are past trying to impress anyone… they just want to have fun.
Nah, probably just make such a fuss over him that they cure his hangover. And they probably lend him the ‘Peru’ shirt, and tell him how great he’d look if he didn’t shave for awhile, just like their grandsons…
Even if the bus is filled with these ladies, and maybe they are on some sort of sunshine tour, there is no guarantee that they are actually on their way to Lima !!! ;)
We may have another week of this. It seems that new possibilities have opened up.The car breakdown was in the parking lot area of the place that they ate. The building is in the first panel of the last two strips.
Little known fact, they started by opening for the Pebbles around 62, and now they’re just getting to the last leg of that tour, as the Pebbles now go by the name of the Stones….
Gunther is about to OD on mothering. And that’s it for this arc; look for it to take up again in August sometime after the Broni wedding, which will take place at TJ’s full-service entertainment warehouse, which will be co-owned by Dez.
Well, now that Gunther’s in the hands of a bunch of doting females and not in danger of being kidnapped by the Shining Path, I’m ready to call it a night. See you all in the funny pages!
Well, it is time to re-tire…IS Katie just came down the stairs to check up on me (she has decided that it is time for bed)! ’Nite all!-————————————————————“Custom, then, is the great guide of human life.”(David Hume, 1711-1776)
Gunther needs a break. For months Rosa led him on like a puppy dog and didn’t make it worth his while, now he’s drunk on a couple of sips of beer, losing his Peruvian father figure, and being dumped on a tour bus. It’s time for him to tell Greg to “stick it” and jump to another cartoon strip where he would be treated better. Maybe he could take Bernice with him and they could both refuse to come back until Greg gives them better treatment.
I’ve been reading this particular strip for many, many years. When it went online it was nice to have a comment section that you could go to and discuss and quip with others regarding the strip. A couple or few years ago that all changed and lately I avoid the comments all together, Though I miss them. Take this personal if you must but this isn’t the place to work on your open-mic night one liners. The jokes are fine but if you notice that you are monopolizing the thread…well, you know what they say. Listen more, talk less.
Oh oh, Gunther is tipsy, misses Rosa, is jealous of his mom, and is in the clutches of a lot of ladies out for fun… recipe for something life-changing.
Wow, Roger Rabbit? I must have seen that movie more than 20 years ago. The only thing that I can remember is the “hot” chick. Was her name Jessica Rabbit?
Gahhh.. I can’t believe the way this plot is going. I’m thinking this is where he mistakenly leaves his bag behind in Luis’s vehicle and maybe one of these ladies gives him a tourist sweatshirt to wear.
I’m hoping this is how Gunther finally gets to see some of the sights of Peru. After all, the bus may be going to Lima, but who says it has to go straight there? Those ladies look too pale to be at the end of their trip!
A few weeks ago, Dierks Benley had a #1 Country song, called “Being drunk on a jet plane.” This might happen to our hero, but he might enjoy being drunk on tour bus with older women in Peru.
I’m confident that the Sun City Senior(itas) will sweat all the poison out of Gunther, and we already know that he survived. Sort of, kind of, mostly….
“They’ll show Gunther what a fuddy-duddy he’s been ….” ^’Basically, when it all boils down… – And hopefully their "club"s name, and those cheerful shirts and their overall enthusiastic disposition will “jog” Gunther’s “thinker” towards that direction….
Luis slipped the bus driver a few sols to take Gunther, and again he’s left in a situation where he doesn’t have to learn any Spanish to continue his “adventure”.
@DavidHuieGreen“There is no logic to your comment. You were just snarky.”
snark·y /ˈsnärkē/ adjective (of a person, words, or a mood) sharply critical; cutting; snide..It wasn’t an attempt at logic. It was an attempt at levity.A failed attempt on your part. You have my deepest appologies for my failure to amuse you..So having failed, let us consider. There are definitely some here who run on and on over many matters. Most of them unrelated to the subject at hand. We know their names and can avoid them easily. If we see a long post and don’t want to bother with it, we are free to skip it. I skip many of them.
“I purposely left name/names off because I didn’t want this to turn into a personal attack.”.Which it wasn’t intended to be.I tried to point out the view was similar.Frequently people in other places condemn others for condemning someone else. In those cases, I also point out that they are doing what they condemn in others..“My point was simple, less is more.”.In that case the maximum would be saying absolutely nothing because you can’t get any less than that.(another failed attempt at humor, I know).I hope your day gets better somehow.
