Starting to get interesting.

Bernice, you’re making so little sense that Piro’s final comment is more logical than yours. Isn’t there some kind of social services department at Moony that can find a place for Piro to stay, if he’s a student? If not, I’ll bet there’s a local homeless shelter…

He has mentioned his buddy, as I recall . . . when he said he did not know Dez.

What is he supposed to be doing while the timer ticks?.Phoning for some other accommodation?.But that is not exactly ‘staying’ is it?

Bernice broke rules with Derek, also with Zane..No very serious ones, though.

This seems to support the idea that Piro has no fixed place to live, at least not at the university.-On a separate note, I tended to be a “follow the rules” person in college myself, but I can’t help but think that having someone like Bernice around in the dorm as Ms. Rules Enforcer would have been no fun at all.

The fact that Piro is even aware of the significance of what Bernice was saying, is proof that he knows how to “scheme” from place to place, “:crashing” at each…" friends’ "…room. – So, the question is… “Does he even go to school here?” – Or… "Is all this just because he’s too afraid of the spider in his own “dorm room”?

I’m not convinced that this strip proves Piro isn’t a student. Certainly when I was in college, there were times when I’d come home to find a sock around the doorknob, which was our code for “don’t come in here”. I spent two or three nights on the sofa in the lounge, nor was I the only person to do so that year.

I did think using up all my clean towels was way over the line, but it’s all ancient history now.

Luann’s time frame is contemporary enough to include cell phones. I find it hard to believe that a college in California would be so unenlightened as to provide no alternative, however informal, for situations exactly like this.

I think Piro’s roommate is either a “player”, or maybe just wants people to think he’s a player (had one of those, too!), which is why Piro frequently needs to find a spare floor from time to time.

What kind of dorm prohibits visitors after 10? I’ve never heard of one with any rule like that… my friends and I always had to get checked in as guests at our friends’ dorms, but we could show up pretty much whenever.

Do we assume that Bernice left her door unlocked when she went on her rounds?

Is anyone else finding it hard/impossible to use reply? I am.

I think Piro is probably not a bad guy. So, the question is, how flexible will Bernice be?

30 minutes is plenty. If Prio’s roomie is like most guys that age, he only needs about a minute and a half.

Bernice will get “busted” for having a guy in her room after 10pm……

Maybe he needs to talk to someone and she’s going to try to help – in 30 mins.

So how come she’s not off to go bust the buddy?

Piro was “crashin” with a buddy. Obviously he doesn’t have a place of his own. The homeless shelter comment is a helpful idea.

You know my best friend who is way more successful than me in life was so poor for a time back in college, and that goes way way back, he crashed in friends dorm rooms, that is until he pledged a frat, and he was able to stay there. This guy Piro seems harmless, and probably is in that kind of situation, and he does not feel threatened by Bernice, or may even like her. My point is that this is not necessarily a huge anomaly. I am interested in seeing what develops.

7For me, Piro is already a known entity (and probable friend of sorts) for Bernice (and Dez). It is not particularly implausible in my opinion, that a “mooching” friend (which Piro seems to be) would drop by unannounced and just sit around. I do not read anything sinister in his actions, nor little if any probability that Piro and Bernice will become any sort of “item” through this interaction.

I think this does represent a common way life goes and and proceeds in the dormitory environment…. people in and out all the time. Rules stated, often times bent to a degree. It is reminicient of the dorms I was in during college, and it seems like how the dorms at my U are today.My hope for this arc…. I hope that we get some interesting background about Piro, and he is more fleshed out as a character.

Sometimes doing the right thing is to break the rules.

I had friends like this in college. One, in particular, came over for a party and stayed for over a month. (Fortunately, it was in someone else’s room. I wouldn’t have stood for that much abuse of privilege in my room.) She wasn’t homeless but really did not like going home to her parents’ house. She stopped the extended stays once she was able to get her own apartment in town.

He was crashing in his buddies room? He doesn’t have a room of his own. What is this guy, homeless?

Didn’t take long to throw Tiffany under the bus but hey, Bernice breaks the rules yet again so go after Tiffany.

You know I said when she got RA I had no idea why they’d let a walking doormat become RA. All she’s done is bend the rules and break them and she continues to do so.

Oh this is just SO ADULT. Piro’s roommate has a woman over and he has to make himself scarce? could this be a hint, albeit ever so subtle, that sexual activity may be taking place ?

Piro is always saying that he’s ‘crashing with a buddy’. So I figure the guy is homeless. Maybe he’s one of the guys who hangs out at colleges, but doesn’t go to college, just goes from party to party and lives wherever people will let him sleep on a couch…

Dave, while I hope Tiffany has matured to an extent where blackmail would not be in her wheelhouse any longer, I am wondering if you are “privy” to any sort of insider information about the future of this arc (sort of like how Sheriff sometimes alludes to future events)? Or, is your comment merely speculation? If you are just speculating…. I would rather hope that if Tiffany does discover the post 10pm Piro, that she makes a kind decision to continue to befriend Bernice and act like the friend she can be.

If they ALL live in the same dorm how come they can’t visit each other after 10pm? That’s the stupidest rule. I could understand locking the OUTSIDE doors at 10pm but your neighbor?

Another question:.Did Tiff show Piro how much fun she was capable of?.Or did he care to explore the issue?.He could be gay, of course.

He does have that eternal “one day without shaving” look that made Gunther seem COOL to Tiff..But IMO Gunther has more of a “two day” look.

By the way :Can a star that small be cut into the hair and stay so neat?Seems unlikely..Or is it perhaps something plastered on, or a bit of hanging jewelry ; a “high earring” of sorts?

Bern’s embrace of flexibility during the party was momentary at best. She’s almost worse now, i.e. her obsession with detail. Piro seems harmless. But we need to know more about him. Maybe these 30 minutes will shed some light. It also seems that he is homeless.

Bernice needs to exercise a little zero tolerance with “Have Scarf, Will Travel” and boot his butt out of there. Unless, of course, she doesn’t really want to.

This is stupid. His buddy is also breaking the rule, so girlfriend needs to go home. End of story.

Anyone notice that Piro actually looks a little like Zane (Bern’s former flame and boyfriend)? Evans might even have used his previous drawings of Zane as a base from which to create Piro

This is really Bernice’s chance to shine as an RA. She’s known Piro for over a year. She needs to get him to open up and tell her about his housing situation.-If he does have a place he’s supposed to be living, she needs to get her out of there and send him to his own room/apartment/whatever.-If Piro is just some hanger-on who isn’t even a student, she needs to call the campus police and have them escort him off campus to deter him from wandering into the dorms without permission.-If Piro is a student who has nowhere to live, she should make a plan to help him access whatever resources the college has so he can find somewhere to live during the term.
