Come on Gunther time to put on your big boy pants. You need to put something in this poor, confused girls mind, If it does not take, move on, maybe try to get Rosa to come back. I think the point is that for whatever reason Piro is not very emphatic and is not ever likely to be seriously interested in Bernice, while a much better choice is right there, and has been all along. I don’t think by the way that the thesis that Gunther and Tiffany should be a couple is valid, although being Luannverse anything is possible. I think Tiffany is fond of Gunther because he is kind, sympathetic to her, helps her get through college, which seems important to her, but is not interested in him as a boyfriend. More a male friend. Oh I just thought an evil thought about her. One way to tell if Luann is really over Quill is for them to hook-up (not sexual, so don’t lose your minds), Tiffany and Quill. I doubt it would ever happen but if it did, whoa Nellie!! Meanwhile back to Gunther and Bernice. As I always say at this point in a Luannverse arc, lets await developments.

I do wish that Gunther respected Tiff more. She is extremely kind to him, but between how he acted in the past coffee exchange (insult) and his behavioral ugliness in panel 2 he may not be a good enough person for her at this point, and Bernice sure does not want him.

Gunther, it is time to eject Bernice. You made it clear that you wanted to try a romantic relationship. She , like her best friend, is too immature for that.I don’t think he was being snarky about Tiffany in panel two, but he wasn’t pleased with Bernice’s obsession. He paid once for coffee when it was Piro, Piro, Piro and here it goes again. To do that over and over again shows no class, Bernice.

How many thousands of young women attend Moony Uni? Go meet some of them, Gunther. You are not required by law to choose the future mother of your 2.5 children from the half dozen girls you knew in high school.

Bernice isn’t a bad person or even acting poorly; she’s always been very up front about her interest in Piro. Gunther is getting knowledge first hand about the great difference there is between what a person thinks he wants opposed what he actually wants.

Gunther needs to straight out tell Bernice how he feels. Bernice needs to wake up and realize that nice guys like Gunther, are priceless. I married a Gunther type guy. My heart wanted adventure, my head wanted stability. Glad my head won over my heart. Maybe Gunther just needs to be honest with her.

Oh, gosh, NG, did you miss how he speaks of Tiffany when he is with others? That is certainly looking down on someone who treats him well, and only for the sake of his own narrow perception of achievement and worth which causes him to totally undervalue the important arenas in which Tiffany is far more capable and intelligent than he is.He also has shown a lack of respect for his mother’s right to expand her own life beyond the narrow confines he wants. That certainly requires looking down on someone rather than respecting her individuality and being happy for her.By extension he has looked down on Mr. Grey. (Gray? Take a look at the way Gunther talks about Tiffany to Bernice on February 3, 2016. He calls Tiffany ‘dumb’

At this point, I’m not sure which is more pathetic. Gunther’s obsession with Bernice or Bernice’s obsession with Piro. It’s a close call.

A woman gets to choose who she wants to be with. Just because you are a “nice guy” does not mean that you always get what/who you want. They have to be interested, too…

The ice cream server looks a little like Frank. Bernice is being very rude to Gunther. If Bernice wants to know who is in Dezs’ room she should go there. Gunther should hand her a cone, say “enjoy”, and give up on this clueless wonder.

Gunther, you and Bernice are not a match made in heaven, or even in Pitts. Look around you and see whether some of the other students on campus (there are thousands) would come nearer to being the future Mrs. Berger.

Gunther should get his pistachio ice cream and eat it alone. He would be done eating by the time Bernice noticed and she could buy her own ice cream if she wanted some.

OK, it may be unpopular, but let me say just a few words in Bernice’s defense. Gunther and Bernice have known each other for many, many years. It could be that she’s just in that mode of mind that she can’t see him as other than a “Pal” from school. That could explain her nonchalant attitude about their current situation ( besides being hyper-focused on Piro). While she may be ignorant of his intentions, she may just not be receptive to HIM as more than a friend or acquaintance.

And there you have it, folks. Gunther should walk her home and then go see what mood Tiff is in after watching Barbarella. Bring her any flavor…

G-man, after the cone you might want to try to lose the 120 lbs behind you. Only then will she respect you.

In real life, I would tell Gunther to forget it. Bernice has got “bad boy fever” and she has to cure herself. At least Tiffany told Gunther flat out he is only a male friend to her and he accepts that. He is not being nasty; he is just sick of being taken for granted. Bernice doesn’t owe him a kiss, but she does owe him recognition of his presence and to stop yapping about Piro in front of him. “He’s just not that into her.” There must be dozens of girls at that university who would want Gunther.

At the risk of making some posters smug about their insights and others upset with my disagreement, here are my takes on the various character pairings that have been discussed here (forgive me if I miss any as this has gotten rather convoluted):.Bernice and Gunther – She has had plenty of time to decide whether or not she wants to be involved with him. She obviously doesn’t. Regardless of how right or wrong he is about their compatibility, she’s not going to come around..Bernice and Piro – This is the flip side of the above. She is doing everything she can to throw herself at him and he’s not responding. Maybe he isn’t interested in any kind of relationship right now. Maybe he feels uncomfortable with the idea of being a couple when he’s essentially homeless. Maybe we’ll find out more about him in the future to know for sure. But she’s pushing a rope uphill with him..Tiffany and Piro – I don’t really think she has an interest in him, or she’d likely offer to let him crash in her suite on a quasi-regular basis. Nor do I think he is interested, for the same reasons I gave in the preceding paragraph..Tiffany and Gunther – She seems to want more than just a friendship, but she doesn’t seem to know what. But then, there has always been some degree of confusion in her thought processes, so …?.Luann and Gunther – That ship sailed before they graduated high school. Before he met Rosa, in fact. And she’s not ready to jump into another relationship, as that last idiotic Zebo story arc proved..Luann and Quill – That ship has also sailed, to Australia by way of Hawaii, but he forgot to get on board beforehand..Tiffany and Quill – He was constantly irritated by her pushing herself closer to him in the past, and I don’t think breaking up with Luann changed that. It’ll be a hot day in August down under before he’d consider Tiffany as a girlfriend..That should be enough for you all to consider for the time being. I think.

One tiny glimmer of hope today is that Gunther seems finally (!) to have tumbled to the stark fact that Bernie is not interested in him (for now at least). So, have your ice cream and move on, to whatever romantic pratfall is next in this comedy of errors….

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I am at Bernice today. You did agree to go get ice cream with the guy. You don’t owe him a goodnight kiss or anything. But you do at least owe him the acknowledgement of his presence. And there you are tapping away on your phone looking for someone you’d rather be with. Rude, lady. Real rude!

She might have a few months ago when we saw her wall come down after that class project in the creek, and I am not sure GE didn’t hit us with a misdirection play, but lately I don’t think she has been trying to seduce him. I think she appreciates his kindness to her, and for her to do that is so far from how selfish she was back in high school as to be notable. If you want background recall some of her panels with Crystal, a loyal friend, but also one who is sarcastic about Tiffany’s pretentiousness right to her face, and it goes right by her. I think GE has to reconsider drawing her that way now because Tiffany is growing up and moving outside herself. So I think the arousal thing is misapplied. Of course I take the “anything can happen in Luannverse” as my fallback position. Who knows after all?

It’s time to move on, Gunther. Look outside the tiny little graph-paper square within which you have mapped your future, and behold the big world around you. Incredible as it may seen, there are more young women in it than just your classmates from Mr. Fogarty’s home room.

It is possible that Tiffany lured Piro to Barbarella by telling him that there was an error in the room location or that Bernice had cancelled the silent film. Then once the film started he would be too polite to just get up and leave. Alternatively (as I was hoping last week) something has happened and he is not OK; and these circumstances will lead us to a better understanding of Piro as a character.

I like this new Gunther. He’s confident!

I took that to mean he did not think she understood his feelings for Bernice, and results from his frustration with the situation at the “date.” It was wrong I grant you though. Tiffany is wiser about relationships than she is given credit for, and she turns out to be his relationship adviser, while Dez is Bernice’s adviser. I don’t think he was looking down on her. Also it was his clumsy way of telling Bernice he and Tiffany are not romantically tied together.
