Why has Toni never been to Brad’s place? I would think by now she would have an idea that he is a slob. The things people think are “cute” at the beginning lead to divorce in time.
Well, we can safely assume TJ is onboard with Toni moving in. Sure Toni has been there several times, but maybe Brad had tidied up. And I don’t recall anything being mentioned about her spending any amount of time in Brad’s bedroom or any other part of the house for any length of time. Perhaps they eventually will get their own place, but it’s still 4 months until their wedding and a good time to save a bit of money for a while.
Tony Randall was married to Florence Gibbs from 1938 until her death from cancer on April 18, 1992. The following year, he said, “I wish I believed I’d see my parents again, see my wife again. But I know it’s not going to happen.”12 He remarried on November 17, 1995, to Heather Harlan, an intern in one of his theatrical programs. At the time, Tony was 75 years old and Heather 25. The couple lived in a Manhattan apartment and bought a vacation apartment, in Key Biscayne, in 2003. They had two children, Julia and Jefferson, and remained married until his death, in May 2004.13In his book Which Reminds Me, he said that any publicity an actor generates should be about his work, not himself. “The public knows only one thing about me: I don’t smoke.”
I find it really HARD to believe that Tony is going to be okay with this arrangement. I see problems in the future. Newlyweds need some time to themselves to adjust to the new relationship. Something that won’t happen here.
You know, coben, your remarks run so far afield that you’ve moved past annoying.1. There were strips posted yesterday showing TJ’s interest in women. So the proof of your error was here before you even started typing this morning. Or does there need to a strip showing him liplocked with some hottie female before you believe it?2. Meh posted what appears to be the Wikipedia entry for Tony Randall. Did it occur to you to check there before making what — if the actor was still alive — a potentially libelous statement?I suggest you think twice — or even three times — before you post in the future.
Man, y’all hating on TJ so much. Again I subscribe to the great Luann character modification algorithm, namely that the closer a character is too Luann’s family, the more they change for the better in terms of selflessness, honesty, being an overall good guy Now this has an adjunct with being in a concentric circle, by that I mean Tiffany’s change through her friendship with Gunther, She never seems to change with Crystal, who one can theorize, likes her precisely because TIffany is the way she is with everyone else (Crystal is attracted to opposites), but she has with Gunther. Anyway thanks to the poster/historian who found and posted that great set of panels where TJ talked to Nancy about his background, and stated in only his way, how happy he was he found the DeGroot family, as a substitute to the one he could not have based on his dad’s criminal life, and his mom’s death. Hence my algorithm. I think it can be modified to the whole strip, and I invite my super smart fellow posters to have at a mathematical formula (I know you can do it guys) but as a reader of this strip nearly from the beginning I think the basic hypothesis holds water. So there will be laugjhing, and some surprises, but I think that place will not only be spic and span, but remarkable for Toni and Brad.
Someone mentioned “metrosexual” like Felix Unger…who was played by Tony Randall, who was gay…and being the days we live in, there must be a gay male character otherwise, you’re homophobic, xenophobic and racist! (yes I know)^^^^^^^^^There is absolutely NO evidence at all the Randall was gay. But i am wondering about your obsession with it.
I flagged his comment. His recent comments have been nothing but repeats of the same questions answered over and over. I suggest ignoring him from now on if he is not banned altogether.
THIS: CobenMember since March 14, 2012BioSome peiple just like to infuriate others just for sh**s and giggles!
The only gay association officially with Randall was this role:
Love, Sidney. In the TV movie that served as the latter show’s pilot, Sidney Shorr was written as a gay man, but his character’s sexuality was made ambiguous when the series premiered. Randall refused to star in any more television shows, favoring the Broadway stage as his medium.
Are you the poster who is obsessed with suggesting that characters, particularly male, are gay? You have an OCD with trying to characterize characters possible sexuality, particularly whether a guy is gay or straight? Is it relevant to the strip I wonder? With the case of Pru it turned out to be relevant to the strip, because the underlying issue of the day then was whether she was a rival to Luann for the affections of Quill. It was a very clever plot device to present an “out” character to the strip. There has been no romantic underlying story with TJ, although he has commented on how attractive women are, although that does not determine a character’s sexual orientation. I real life I think certain men are attractive and sexy, but I don’t want to sleep with them, as I am straight. Of course based on your OCD I would probably be gay. That would be news to me (lol). So your thesis, if you have one, seems pretty threadbare. This, at least for me , is what is so aggravating with posters such as yourself who have such a need to comment on a character’s supposed sexual orientation. I believe the best way to combat ignorance or bigotry is to call it out, and whatever your motivation, I am calling you out. What damn difference does it make, except to you?
Hang on a minute. What’s all this psycho-babble attacking Coben’s comments? luannfan1212 unleashes a verbose diagnosis of OCD, and trilogy spews out more of his verbal diarrhea accusing him of being obsessed with gay men. I believe that it was the same trilogy who accused me of being obsessed with sex in the cartoon. Do you two cow boys or girls make up some rules limiting free speech that I’m not aware of? Learn from SukieCrandall, she has a softer, more tolerant approach and I don’t even have any ferrets. Just remember all you self-appointed psychologists that Sigmund Freud has been replaced by a pill (or two).
Here. Yesterday, of course, the remodeling discussion led to very kind posters showing images of the house. This MIGHT be the first remodeling mention:PipeTobacco GoComics PRO Member said, 1 day agoInteresting (at least to me) other questions from some of the discussion yesterday:A lot of folks were predicting that TJ may end up getting booted out of the house if and “when” Shannon may move in as the “adopted” daughter. However, I am wondering how large this house is? It could be a three bedroom home. If so, then there could be Brad & Toni’s room, TJ’s room, and Shannon’s room. If the house is indeed only a two bedroom, this would complicate matters. But, that said, I could imagine some interesting hijinks ensuing if Greg decides to have them “remodel” the house to create an additional bedroom (perhaps an attic or basement finishing to accommodate another bedroom for someone, depending upon how “nice” the trio envision it turning out). If this route is taken, it could lead to a whole bunch of classic comedy outcomes and could be fun to watch. If they did do a remodel of some sort, adding an extra (permitted) bedroom would likely dramatically increase the value of the home, which could be a) a bonus for the parental DeGroots, and/or b) potentially lead to a decreased rent for the three of them (Brad, Toni, & TJ) if they put in the “sweat equity”.All of the above remodeling benefits….. are of course…. presuming that the dynamic remodeling trio is successful in keeping the house INTACT and not destroying it in the comedic remodel. :)
There are so many “common knowledge” sexual/gender/hormonal/genetic/embryonic stereotypes and myths that are just plain wrong for so many people. Actually, a different type appeared recently in SciAm. It was mostly about women who are naturally high T, but the percentage of elite male athletes who some would mistakenly think of as low T would surprise many. That info is also in the article. The reality is that much biology is on continuua rather than being on only discrete points, and too many forget that. Hopefully, this link still works:http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/naturally-occurring-high-testosterone-shouldn-t-keep-female-athletes-out-of-competition/
