Where does this bossy bit come from? I think Jonah probably pays little attention to Shannon’s requests, or else Jonah just says “yes” and it never gets done.
Ha Ha! Way to GO, Toni! Suckered the Guys into watching, Shannon! Brilliant! Better than Tom Sawyer conning kids into painting the fence!Hey Shannon! Before we build that “pool” we’re going build a second LARGER bathroom!Won’t that be Fun?
And tonight Your Uncle Mordo is going to tuck you in and read the Major Payne Version of the “Little Engine that Could!”
While Toni gets her hair done, Brad and TJ will be pulling out theirs. And, I sincerely doubt that we’ll see any change in Toni’s hair when she returns. (Hope I’m wrong). We will now return to the female Dennis the Menace.
Uh-oh. Shannon behaves for Aunt Toni because she is a disciplinarian and nonsense personality but she expects to have Uncles TJ and Brad wrapped around her little finger.
Indoor pool created using a shovel! Honestly, that sounds like a renovation that TJ or Brad would have done. They could be like the Three Stooges, except where of them is short and cute.
Doesn’t TJ have someplace to be? I know it’s Brad’s time off, but is TJ just going to hang around all day? Still amazing that Toni and Brad are OK with him living with them when he doesn’t need to.
So, Toni needs a touch up to her do, huh? Guess even comic strip characters’ hair can lose the bounciness and body…Well, is Toni a real blonde? I think so! But…only her colorist knows for sure!
-
The one pro to letting Shannon build a pool, is that if there’s a fire, or a classic “CHiPs style” emergency, Brad can always just call himself , then jump into action. Then, it would be a ‘do it yourself’ project, in lots of ways!
-
In order to successfully lure Shannon away from the place she intends to break ground, they might want to consider dropping a bunch of random items on the ground, one after the other, leaving a trail to the sofa. She’ll use her imagination, to pick up the items and then perhaps turn it into some grandiose adventure. Then, when she gets to the couch, hurry and click on Dora…she’ll ask Shannon a lot of questions (even though Dora still does what she wants, regardless of what you tell her to do), and then TJ and Brad will have exactly 2 seconds to put up ‘kid friendly’ restraints around her….or maybe just casually mention that it’s not safe to leave the couch, because of all the lava on the floor…..
and the Shannon hate-fest has begun. So far 2 posts that advocate tying her up. Another about drugging her, and another about hitting her, and one that simply says ‘I Hate Shannon’. If any of you are parents I pity your kids. If you are planning it please don’t.
It would serve certain posters (including our favorite BULLWINKLE) right if tomorrow Toni shows up with a ‘Mia Farrow’ type haircut (people under 65, google ‘mia farrow’), Brad is called back to work because of a fire emergency, AND the DeGroot rental house has collapsed into a sink hole caused by Shannon and TJ digging out a space for an indoor pool
Hmm. Hi-jinks appear to be in store this week as Shannon is in a “feisty” mood to apparently engage in acts which are not really appropriate for indoor activities. But, a few questions to ponder:
1) Toni will be gone “a few hours” to get her hair done? Unless she is getting some sort of extensive makeover, this seems (at least to me) a very long time. Others here are postulating Toni may get her hair cut drastically, but I think it is unlikely. To me, it seems that Greg would have given some “hints” of a sort before he would alter Toni’s looks drastically. Granted, there was minimal indication of the change for Bernice, but her change caused less controversy than I suspect would be caused if, say, Toni suddenly came back with a short (perhaps “Hepburn-esque”) sort of style. More shocking might be if Toni decided to dye her hair…. perhaps a “goth” dark color, or a red?
2) TJ is on board with watching Shannon, but has no idea of a plan. It appears that much of this week will be TJ, Brad, and Shannon. This should be pretty fun (I hope).
3) I suspect that Brad will end up being the exhausted character this week. Having to keep a reign on Shannon AND TJ will be a lot of work for Brad. The bigger question is whether Brad will catch on quickly enough thwart whatever “over-the-top” plans Shannon and/or TJ develop…. or will Brad go along with them leading to some sort of comedic disaster or two or three? I think the odds are that Brad will not recognize the risks until it is far too late, and “craziness” ensues.
Geez, so much misopedia here. Child hatred. I guess that floats some people’s boat. I never want to get on the wreck myself though. Shannon is a willful child, but hardly anything out of bounds. She is extremely normal, for anyone who actually has raised children. What she needs is clear and consistent love, but that is hard because her dad is not very consistent. How the young adults handle it is really the humorous point of this arc, not the fact that she acts like a normal kid. Being a brat makes her amenable to loving adult are and concern, not some of the amazingly sick ideas so of you misopedia phobes come up with here.
There are no brats, really, but I have seen lots of bratty behavior – even in adults (not to bring in politics). Still it does seem like the Evanses are pushing a certain view of Shannon as a little tiring to be around. Given the inconstant parenting, that is understandable. Shannon doesn’t seem to say cruel things, just self-absorbed things. Some children behave in a mean way to others, and still come out of that to be kind adults. A work in progress like all of us.
I hope we are NOT in for a week with this OBNOXIOUS self-centered brat from hell ordering all the humans around. Come on Greg; no one likes her!!!!!! No one wants to be annoyed in their comic strips!!
I love Shannon. She is enthusiastic and creative. I’d much rather have a child like her than one who is addicted to a phone or IPad screen. Too many kids today spend many hours in front of a screen and it makes then dumb zombies. Brad and TJ give her attention, but they don’t spoil her.
What Shannon wants to do is as destructive as tearing down a wall when she goes missing. Gee, who would do that? So which is it: Jonah has been neglecting her or Jonah spoils her too much? I guess it doesn’t matter.
Brad: What a minute. A shovel? TJ: She’s getting a shovel? To build an indoor pool? Uh-oh.Brad: Hurry, go to the store and grab a kiddie pool, stat! TJ: She’d not be satisfied with a lame kiddie pool. It’s Shannon we’re talking about. Brad: She will have to be! GO! TJ leaves and Shannon appears with a shovel. Brad: Shannon, you’ve got clean clothes and Aunt Toni will be mad you got them dirty. Go change into your swimsuit. Shannon: Drops the shovel and runs for her suit. TJ comes back with the kiddie pool and puts it in the middle of the living room. Brad fills it up with water when Shannon comes back. Shannon: WE’VE GOT A POOL! She jumps in. Brad: I know Toni will be upset but it’s a small price getting the livingroom wet – better than a hole in the floor. TJ nods in agreement and high-fives Brad.
You may as well get that shovel, (and construction equipment), and start building an addition onto that house. Get Frank’s permission first! I’m thinking Shannon’s gonna be there for a while!
Toni just mentions her hair appointment to set up the Brad-TJ-Shannon bit, but a lot of folks jumped on the bandwagon for a new hair style. I’d have to admit that anything she does would be more interesting to me than the kiddie tale. No, I don’t hate Shannon or any other little kids, they are just an alien species that I’m not familiar with.
