OMC!!! Loving the Werefloof’s ears, everyone popping and Buzzy Mouse pipping & Puck wanting to know where their pants go! And poor Elvis… if he had an anxiety closet I think hawaiian shirts and no pants would be in there.
I want chapbooks of these wonderful story arcs—lost Elvis Christmas, the two Halloweens (one isn’t even done yet), shelter cats. This one could be called “scary camping stories for cats.”
Which would (cartoon) Elvis rather be dressed in – a bee costume, a taco costume, a Pirate Ballerina costume or a werefloof Hawaiian shirt with no pants?
My favorite Gerry Goffin/Carole King song. The Drifters did it best. Other versions don’t hold up as well but it’s such a catchy number (“Up On The Floof” of course).
Having had a beautiful were-floof in our fur-family, I can attest to the unbelievable abundance of fur those little critters produce! They can merely walk by you trailing wisps of the stuff. And when handsome Cary arose from a nap, he would leave a perfect swirl of fur in the carpet.
Yet, he NEVER seemed to run out of fluff! Apparently, Maine Coons metabolize 90% of their intake into fur production.
We referred to his feet as “hooves” & “clodhoppers” for the size. He had a very firm foundation.
And he was clearly, for pure looks, the handsomest baby we ever had!RIP dear Cary (Grant)! You did your namesake proud!!! ♥♥♥
Buzzy Mouse snuggled up to Pucky in the last panel — too sweet for words!!! ♥♥♥
Love to everyone!!! If you’re needing boops, heart hugs, or other forms of comfort, you have them from me!!! I’ll be out of town today, so I’m broadcasting love by the bushel until I get back!!!
I adore the colors in this strip! That first panel of the moon is absolutely gorgeous! There are so many great details in this strip… Everyone getting their own Hawaiian shirt color (we need to see a BCN luau with those shirts and some catnip cocktails in tiny coconut cups!), the fact that Buzzy pips rather than pops, the fact that everyone’s ears get extra floofified after they have been were-floofed, the enamel camping coffee pot and matching mugs and plate (I have the same pot and mugs, mine are green though), the fact that the heater clearly agrees with Elvis about the scare level of this story, Pucky’s concerns about the lack of pants (he is a very sweet and modest boy). My only wish is that Sophie would have shown up floofified. I bet she would be completely adorbs kn a Hawaiian shirt (I am visualizing pink with lovely blue and purple flowers) and (more importantly) it would men Tommy finally got a chance to hug her!
Yes Puck, where DO the pants go??? I guess there’s enough floof to cover all! :D Tommy, I want to be hugged and floofed too! ♥♥♥ Look at Tabitha’s cute purple Hawaiian shirt! And she’s still angry despite the floofing! (cheeky giggles)
Its 5:15 and the Stampede Partners are wrestling on the bed. Mrrpph. Wait a minute. That’s not wrestling. They are playing pounce on the toes beneath the blanket. grumble grumble. But they’re doing it all over the place. huhhhh?
I refuse to open my eyes. I refuse to move. If I don’t they will go away and I can go back to sleep.
Now they’re up near my chest level pawing at the quilt. Oh for Murphy’s sake, go to sleep you goobers. Why are you pulling on the sheet?
Oh my, a thought just occurred to me. paw paw paw pull tug slap bat. What if they brought up a…….ahhhh crap. And there it goes. Either Lupin has shrunk like a Rick Moranis movie kid or a mouse just scurried past my chest and down my leg. Under the sheet.
On the Jasper report for today. He thought he was feeling better than he actually was. He has been gingerly putting his foot down more and more. Well this morning he was tripodding along a little too fast and put he foot down and it didn’t hold him. It has happened 4 or 5 times before no big deal. This time however he was on the sidewalk leading up to the front door and did a face plant. I freaked a little and he was kinda stunned for a couple minutes. I got him in the house and stopped the bleeding. Yep right on the end of his huge chin. He still won’t let me look at his teeth but I think he’s OK because he ate a little food. Good thing I didn’t get the huge guy for his brains.
This has to be one of my favorite strips in a while. Don’t get me wrong — I love following our intrepid reporters daily, but today is just extra cat-tastic! And I have to say, the Sunday strips always make me extra happy because they remind me of the early strips (back when everything was on breakingcatnews.com). I loved the longer strips (even if there were only 2 per week); it felt like getting a whole episode twice a week whereas the dailies feel more like getting a little teaser every day. I realize it’s done to accommodate the newspaper format, but I do miss those long strips so…
I may be just a smidge biased, but is anyone else legit disappointed in GoComics that the were-floof is not in the Editor’s Top 5 today? I’m sorry, but I find this is a way better strip than at least 2 of the ones that made the list today…
Sixty-two years ago today I was my dad’s birthday present and we are going to my folks to celebrate mine and his. Also, 62 means I can start SS so not working anymore, at least not for others. PLENTY to do at home!
History question: Does anyone else remember being told, as a kid who asked “What for?”, “What fur? Cat fur to make kitten britches!” Or was that original with my mom? (this was rural SW Ohio)
I am embarrassed to say I never really noticed that Tommy doesn’t have pants on when all the other cats do (or dresses). I blame Disney. Makes sense that so much floof would be hard to…contain. Have there been any other pantless characters???
My son, no longer with us, made the best gift I have ever received. He had my Hawaiian shirts and my Grateful Dead concert shirts made into quilt. I plan to be put to rest warped in it. But on a happier note, I think FLOOFING is the best way to describe what happens when you give a really good hug. I LOVE Tommy!
Sandra Boynton, Walt Kelly’s Pogo, Sir Terry Pratchett, Star Trek, etc., etc., with kitties!! [Happy sniff!] You guys are my kind of people! Thank you!

When this old world starts getting me down
And it’s too hard to face the truth
I don my favorite Hawaiian shirt
And look to go and hug
My favorite werefloof!
My werefloof is friendly as can be
And I can count on him to make me feel glee
Let me tell you now
When I come home feeling tired and beat
I go out where the hugs are sweet and free
I get away from the grumpy crowd
And hug a floof and feel
Happy as can be
Hug a floof the bestest way I know
To chase away the blues, let’s make it so
And hug a floof
