My dear friends and dedicated Orbsters, I cannot tell you enough how grateful I am for your well wishes. It is a fact that positive energy can heal, and I had so much to go on I’ll probably live to be 100 (ok, maybe that’s optimistic- the men on my dad’s side averaged 75 or so and I’ve already lived longer than mom). But the boops, bumps, and even the Ecards were a genuine joy. I am profoundly happy to be a part of the Orb, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ****************************************************************************The surgery itself went well. I came home and slept, and slept some more. I already knew the lesion was pre-cancerous from an earlier biopsy, I’ll know if they got that tiny little remnant on my follow-up in two weeks. Confidence is high. Thank you all again.. -gil (aka skykey)

I’ve never heard of a candy as polarizing as candy corn. Those who love it will defend it to the death, and those who hate it do so with the power of a thousand burning suns. There is no in between.

<<Bob was waiting for them, and he guided the two cats past the gold ropes and to their seats.>>

“Let’s go with a Grasshopper and I think my friend will have your best “Whole”, neat. Give us about ten minutes after that, then bring the ‘Grand Indulgence’. Megan acted like this was as common as a human ordering burgers from a drive-thru. Tre-C was impressed, however. “Megan, there’s catnip on the Grand…” “I know, Kitten, but it really depends on where they get it as to how good it is. We’ll see. In the meantime, keep your eyes open. I want to see how things are run here. Just remember- be cool.” “No problem, Meg, as long as no-one pulls my tail…” This, Megan would observe later, was not a joke. As it happens, one of ’Kitten’s’ biggest no-no’s was having her tail pulled. “Megan, I know what the humans do in places like this, I’ve seen it on TV. But I have to ask- are the cat trees for the entertainment, or for us?” “Not for just us, Tre-C. For them, but possibly for both. Sit tight, I think our drinks are coming.

And following yesterday’s theme, those who want some owl-related spookiness should try this:https://www.tor.com/2011/10/31/trapped-in-a-pattern-the-owl-service/

Set in rural Wales (which is creepy enough without owls) and full of mysterious goings-on.

Good morning and happy Thursday/Purrsday to all orbsters and orbabies. We are heading off to the cabin later today, so I will be incommunicado until Tuesday (I’ll be home sometime Monday, though, and will be reading all the comments back to today). May all Canadians who follow this strip have a happy Thanksgiving – try not to overdose too much on turkey and cranberries and stuffing/dressing and pumpkin pie or apple pie with whipped cream!

No matter what “flavor” they put in it, candy corn is nasty in taste and texture to me. When I was a child in a tiny town my disappointment was boundless when someone would toss those tiny packets of it into my treat bag. The only thing worse was home made popcorn balls, which always came from homes where you would be afraid to eat anything that you knew was not pre-packaged. These were immediately confiscated upon returning home. Long live Reese’s Cups!

The right way to eat candy corn is to bite off and eat the white tip first, followed by the orange middle and then the yellow bottom.

I like candy corn. I wouldn’t say I absolutely LOVE it (with the exception of Starburst candy corn which has been discontinued), but I don’t mind it. I’ve tried some interesting flavors too. Someone had s’mores flavored which was good and a grocery store had tangerine in bulk.

I came to like candy corn thanks to my grandfather, who’d somehow always seem to have a secret stash of candy corn on him that he’d slip to us grandkids whenever (usually to get us to behave).

It is a well known fact that Christmas fruitcake is one of the most durable substances know to Man and is the perfect material for the construction of emergency shelters. What is not so well known is that Candy Corn, after being softened with a little water and then mashed into a paste, is the perfect mortar to use with fruitcake bricks, making said shelters truly indestructible.

One or two or three is great but always turns into ten or twelve which kicks in the HFCS system reaction as ten or twelve turns into thirty or forty – and then you die.

I used to love candy corn. I’d eat it one color at a time. Yellow was my favorite. Then they started making it with cheap fructose, and it now tastes nasty. Oh well, I can’t eat candy these days anyway.

I wonder if there is a genetic split (I’m not kidding) about candy corn as there is about cilantro? I like candy corn sorta medium-level, so I’m neutral on that score, but to me cilantro ruins anything you put it into, because it tastes like soap flakes! I found out several years ago that I am neither crazy nor alone, and it is an actual genetic taste reaction.

On a more serious note, friends, can I please ask the Mega-Orb to reach out and support one of our readers? Pam Yurocko, also known as ppyfss, had been out of touch since September 27. I usually communicate with her every day and had not been able to get in touch with her. I called the Edgewater police department and they sent a constable to check on her. She had had an obvious fall and was bleeding and incoherent. The constable says that her condition is grave. Can we please send her support and healing bumps, hugs, boops and prayers? Thanks in advance, I know I can depend on all of you.
