@Cheapskate – With the addition of Karen, the presentation of the characters has changed both physically and in plot arcs vs witty stand-alone strips.

Toni’s expression in the last panel seems to say “Oh s***”… She seems frustrated. Bad enough already that her brother frustrates her with Shannon.

If Brad and Toni were really frustrated with the whole idea of taking care of Shannon so much, they wouldn’t be building a room for her…

People you are getting caught in Shannon, and she is cute, but today shows what this arc is all about. THIS IS THE HOUSE they got they were talking about several arcs ago. An old house, they as a young couple rehabbing. Moreover, it is important that in THIS NEW (OLD) HOUSE, they are prepping a room for Shannon. All the other stuff is just staging. I doubt that TJ is in this house by the way, this is theirs.

Late reply to Pipe from a couple days ago. He said, “As an aside…. I want to complement Sheriff today… I find the avocado color “wash” used for the background to be quite attractive. The wash of the color across the whole background, including things that could have been potentially colored more specifically (such as the sawhorse, for example) harkens back to an late-50s, early-60s style of coloration used in kids books that I always enjoyed and found very distinctive…. and almost “jazzy” in feel.”——-Simple truth is that look was a byproduct of having to find a more efficient way to color the drawing. Oftentimes spending a lot time on background elements isn’t worth the effort when a simple gradient will do just as well.

OK—I just found Greg and Toni’s first anniversary. https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2017/12/15That was on December 15, 2017, so their second anniversary is coming up in 1 month and 1 week. That means that Shannon is 8 years old now.

“Why is your room taking so long,” Shannon Dear? That’s a good question, actually.

Unfortunately, many of Us are still trying to figure out why the “Ann Eiffel Resolution Story” is taking so long.

I would suggest letting Shannon be involved in the project. Describe every step and have her do little projects. This is how she can expand her little horizon and it would keep her from getting bored and feel like she’s just in the way. A future “Rehab Addict.”

In general, just a continuation of the last day or two…. but thankfully no malapropism from Shannon today!

The one thing that is noticeable to me today, though is the consistency of Brad and Toni’s interactions with Shannon. Both Brad and Toni do well with taking care of Shannon, but it seems to be consistent that Brad is generally more comfortable and “easy-going” in his interactions with Shannon, whereas Toni seems to have a little bit more of an edge to her interactions with Shannon where Toni sometimes seems more near the “annoyed” end of the scale in her interactions.

It is not in any way a blatant level of annoyance…. it is just a very small, subtle degree of difference between Brad and Toni’s interactions with Shannon that appears to me to be consistently shown over the many arcs featuring Shannon.

Doesn’t take that long. I have helped drywall a bedroom and a kitchen, both in houses over 100 years old. In the bedroom the floor sloped almost 7 inches. But correct measuring made dry walling very easy. Took only about 2 days for plaster and lathe bedroom to first tear out the old on day one and put in the new on day 2. Kitchen took a few days as cousin first tried to do it all on his own, when he asked me to help it went much faster

It’s Her Room, they need to let her leave a few Handprints in the “Mud”.

It will give the room “Character”.

And, years later, they can get all Sentimental about it and decide Never to sell the house with all those “Memories” trapped in it.

I worked for 40 years at USG formulating joint compound, MUD. I"d offer to tape and finish out their room, if it weren’t fictitious. And yes, mud is way more complicated than dirt and water.
