See, there is prayer in school.

This is why I had a difficult time believing in God as a kid.

If he listens to my prayers, how come he wouldn’t give me that video game I wanted?

As I recall, when it did come, it wasn’t quite what he expected it to be.

Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

We all know the feeling Calvin. We’ve been there and done that many times over.

I recall it took a long time to get premiums like that… it seemed to take weeks.

When it does arrive, Calvin will have forgotten all about it. Of course, the life span of an intact beanie with Calvin can be measured in microseconds.

I HAD a beanie like that. From the days of the cartoon, “Beanie and Cecil” and Beanie had a helicopter beanie. You could buy them in the toy store. You’d pull the cord and the propeller would fly off the beanie-hat. It actually worked pretty well and I loved it!

It takes a thing called patience, Calvin. Even God will not give you what you want the instant you ask for it.

Gee, I hope Mom remembered to include the return postage stamp.

Praying in school? Calvin’s really taking the “rebellious kid” bit to the next level…

No Amazon 2nd day delivery for me either as a boy in the ’40s and ’50s.

If he’s like me, by the time the beanie comes he will have forgotten all about it.

Even God can’t speed up the postal service.

Bargaining with God is always a bad idea.

I guess it’s good to discover the futility of prayer before you waste you life acting on the belief that it has any effect.

I actually had a dream last night where I got the beanie, it made a nice breeze that kept me cool.

God isn’t a fan of your sports team and he/she doesn’t play favorites.

It takes patience kiddo.

Maybe he should try some spells…
