Brian, a small correction for panel seven. Trump DID ask Russia to hack Hillary’s emails. Just because he did it publicly at a rally does not mean it’s not collusion/treason. I can’t go shoot someone in broad daylight on 5th avenue and claim that it’s not murder because I did it openly.
So, the Righties think that we should TOTALLY BELIEVE, WITHOUT QUESTION, a 4 page summary written in less then a week of a 2 YEAR investigation into the most corrupt “administration” in U.S. History. A summary written, by the way, by the hand-picked flunky of the head criminal under investigation!
If Mueller does testify before Congress (he has let it be known that he would), I hope somebody asks him how the HELL career criminal Paul Manafort and rising criminals Don Jr. and Jared meeting with agents of an enemy dictator to trade dirt on Hillary for something Putin wanted (like, fer instance, getting rid of sanctions) is NOT collusion? Only an American baby would believe that the meeting was about Russian babies. And if Barr is hauled in front of a Congressional committee (and he damn well should be), ask him: “Madam, are you now or have you ever been a crook? And, WHY?”
All too sad. In the last several days’ editorial cartoons, and the comment threads thereto, you’d never guess that no one (with the possible exception of Ballocky Bill Barr) actually knows what’s in the Mueller report. Big Orange has already decreed that if you rearrange the letters of “does not exonerate” it spells, “totally exonerated” (in all caps, no less).
It is too much to ask for news journalists to simply report facts without their opinion of those facts.
It is too much to ask that they actually verify items before they broadcast them labeled as fact.
It is too much to ask that opinion segments be clearly labeled as such and that “news” anchors refrain from slanting news.
No, I am not under the impression that it was ever any different in the US. The 1st Amendment allows for the presentation of falsehood as fact, provided you are “reporting” the falsehood. It is a political practice that predates the founding.
But there was a period, a brief period beginning after WWII and the birth of television, that media was at least trying to adhere to some decent standards. Shunning the more hysterical partisan theories presented by the fringe.
But that period is over. With the 24/7 news cycle, the desperate race for ratings, we find that our news outlets have become circuses instead of fact sources.
And now, instead of hanging their heads in shame, most who PROMISED us that the Mueller report would unseat Trump are now racing to find some other crime they can report on, harp on and hopefully use to bring down the POTUS. A sad state of affairs.

If it’s really good and really depressing, there’s a strong possibility that it’s “Two Party Opera”.

O, for a Muse of EMP, to obliterate.
The puissant glare of invisible fire,
This great globe for a set, scribes to fall dumb
And oligarchs to pace in bunkers, fingers wide.

A wonderful job, Mr Carroll, of establishing your very own echo chamber full of mindless hateful sycophants. Must make you very proud! (Too harsh?)
