After that previous business with the posting of the photo of Gunther standing behind the mannequin with the lingerie, I’m surprised Bets doesn’t have him wearing the six-pound velvet dress …
Wow…risking K2 again. They must be feeling more confident that all eyes won’t be on them this time. (Of course, dressed like that, all eyes will be on them.)
I wonder how “authentic” they went with their costumes for the SCA. Because since the renaissance ran from the 13th to the 16th century and people didn’t wear underwear until the 19th century because it didn’t exist. Just wondering.
Betcha Gunther made the costumes. Knowing Pittsville is somewhere in the San Diego County, betcha they’re dressed up for the ComicCon in San Diego. I went there with my boys once and it’s a huge thing in San Diego. However, the costumes tend to be in the character of current movie characters or superheroes. Both are in Medieval/Renaissance costumes so that puzzles me.
I guest that Gunther made the costumes and Bets bought the expensive material for make them. Tiffany is right, they looks really good in it (and she looks so sad seeing how nice they are as a couple???). Gunther has a huge talent for tailoring, maybe Bets will be able to make him understand how much it’s valuable.
When I first saw today’s cartoon I thought this was another dream. But I guess they’re going to some event that calls for this stuff. Geez that does not look like fun to me. Poor Gunther took Tiff’s comment to mean he looks sexy. G&K were stretching their imagination on today’s arc.
So Bets digs his Capt. Kirk PJs. Then photos of her “boyfriend” sent into the either of him in Tiff’s lingerie. Now parading around in a codpiece (or reasonable facsimile thereof). What the ecchi is going on with these two? Something just doesn’t seem right. Too many feminine feeling-tones for “Gun” lately. (Did I mention I dislike, bordering on loath, that diminutive?)
LOL. The old Rennie in me popped into my brain. When I read “Authentic,” I thought, “uh… Not exactly, but pretty darned close.”
Ah, I do fondly recall the days when I would dress in layers of clothing (never did play royalty, because Summer is not the season for brocades and velvet!) and head out to the Faire…
I think the humor comes from Gunther today. He’s deliberately misunderstanding Tiff’s “hot” comment. She really means “hot” as in temperature and Bets gets it. Gunther will always be flattered anytime he remotely receives a compliment from either Tiffany or Luann. They do look great! More Elizabethan than Renaissance though.
Yeaaaa!!! Gunther and Bets arc. Can’t wait to see what happens. Love the period costumes. Bet (no pun intended) GUnther sewed them, but Bets contributed.
It is Renaissance Faire time! I thought it was settled that Bets and Tiff would be roomies. Not so sure about the 50-50 on lingerie, as Bets went bonkers over them and possibly bought them herself?
So Bets told Gunth about the 50-50 split, but did he or they discuss w Tiff? Tiff gave Bets a camisole?, but Bets said she couldn’t afford all of the collection. Nothing settled before the notorious camping trip!
Gunther and Bets were at the Reconnaissance Festival it appears. That is always fun.
As Mordy mentioned, Gunther looks like Sir Walter Raleigh….. EXCEPT he is missing the flourish of the goatee. He doesn’t seem to even be wearing his “peachfuzz” anymore either. And, one can hope for Gunther that his “codpiece” is purely ornamental and non functional….. otherwise he is likely strangulating his, er, future fatherhood potential…. the “codpiece” would typically be worn lower.
Bets costume…. REALLY very nice! I even like the green/blue contrast. Gunther appears to be on a very lucky and happy upswing here…. Bets seems to continue to be wonderful for him.
It is my hope that this week has us learn more about Bets, her goals… hopefully we find out more about if she is in college…. and if so, which one (Moony or Pitt CC we hope)… or if she is perhaps already in the job scene.
* * * *
Seeing the Sir Walter Raleigh getup gives me reason to think fondly of Sir Walter Raleigh pipe tobacco. It is a beautiful cube-cut burley leaf and has always been a staple that I greatly enjoyed!
Back in the sixties I thought that codpieces were in line to become the next exaggerated male fashion. Little did I know that people would start fooling around with flared hems, instead, though the incidental emphasis on the guys’ buns that resulted was certainly welcome.
Cute. Double meaning works well here. But rather than “quaff” (usually a verb, not a noun), flagon might be better. Are Gunther and Bets doing a Renaissance Faire thing?

Sheesh! And no pockets! Now, I wonder where Gunther has got Tiff’s Money from the eBay sales (a-hem) “Stashed?” ;)
Oh. And Two MORE things:
1) I HOPE “B-Gun” discussed their 50% commission with Tiffany BEFOREHAND, and she’s okay with it.
2) Bets floats the “new roommate” idea to Tiffany as a “solution” to her “dorm room problem.”
And Gunther? The “Sir Walther Raleigh” look? It ain’t you. Try more “Errol Flynn/Captain Blood,” next time! ;)

I always wondered what those nobility dresses would look like in a mini. And I do not mean in a Mini Cooper. Or, anything to do with Sheldon Cooper…
.
Heck, even one of those Elizabethan lace ruff collars would make a good mini skirt.
