I drug out the decorative scarecrow for the bank lobby last week. Unfortunately he has no effect on problem customers. Nor does he scare our resident live bats. Now if I could just convince the bats to handle the problem customers…
If only the decorative scarecrow would do something about those decorative (or decorated) crows! At least they are all insensate, and maybe you guys can have some fun ripping them apart!
Decorative crows, a decorative scarecrow, decorative sunflowers? What on earth is going on? What ever it is, I’m certain it will have a deleterious effect on Life As The Boys Know It.
It’s way past my bedtime, and my sleep addled brain is seeing all those cute little decorative crows lined up like ten-pins, with Lupin barreling into them like a furry bowling ball! :D
First woman: My son came to visit for summer vacation.Second woman: How nice! Did you meet him at the airport?First woman: Oh, no. I’ve known him for years!
Dear fellow cat lovers, I found a very nice website called Cat quotes.com with lots of quotes and poems. Wordsworth’s Kitten with the leaves, is very nice. That’s not the exact title of the poem but you’ll find it. It’s the middle of the night and my brain is numb.
I don’t decorate for Thanksgiving or Hallowe’en. A) I have no room to put up or store these ornaments, B) We’re never home for Thanksgiving and C) We don’t get any children at Hallowe’en at our apartment as it’s in the rear of our sixplex.
I need to think about bringing in my herb box and two geraniums for the winter. I need to make room for them somewhere, somehow.
Yum Yum is scolding me; I need to figure out what’s on her mind as so far this morning, I have catered to all her whims: noms, gushy food, bedroom door set so she can open it and snuggle with Paul, front door open a crack so she can get in and out, water glass topped up, litter box cleaned…I have no clue what she wants right now.
A stray cat I took in, pregnant, has given birth today! 7 kitties! I thought I’d help out homeless elder cats, but this walked into my backyard. Anybody need a christmas kitten or three? It’ll be fun for a while but 10 cats in the house will be a bit much…
I love the autumnal theme, but I’m finding it difficult to get into the proper spirit; we still have temps at or near 100 F (37 C for most of the world) every day! My scarecrow would be in Bermuda shorts and need SPF 8,000 sunscreen.
Important questions. “For cat’s sake” was one of my mom’s favorite euphemisms from her rural Methodist upbringing in the 1920s. She liked euphemisms and cats.
Some of the comments about cat conversations made me wonder about something. My dearly departed drama queen Ericka would try to talk to me. She would occasionally complain when I came home from work. She would meow and mew and act out things. She would criss-cross her front paws, or take a sideways step or two and return, all the while vocalizing. It would go on for a while and always ended with a big sigh (which I called her “oh, how I suffer”). I never had a clue what she was complaining about and never saw an injury or anything wrong or out of place. I think she just wanted to complain — I know she hated to be alone while I went to work (she hated other cats, so a companion was not an option). I would comfort her and tell her I was so sorry and that took care of it, she got it off her chest.
Anyone have a similar talking or acting cat? I’m especially interested in the criss-cross front paws and side steps. I took them as “then I went here and then I did that,” but I never saw any other cat do that.
The Mrs decorates for various seasons/holidays as well. We have one bedroom dedicated to decorations. New Years’,(overlapping with Xmas), Valentine’s Day, St Patty’s, Spring, Easter, Memorial/Remembrance Day, Canada Day, July 4th, Summer, Labour Day, Generic Autumn, Canadian Thanksgiving, Halloween, USA Thanksgiving, Generic Winter, Xmas. This week the Generic Autumn has come out.
Need to vent/whine here for a sec, orbsters. My car died Friday, the A/C yesterday (it’s still 90 degrees here, and no repairman until tomorrow), and now I’m sitting in a too-warm house trying to put all this stress out of my brain so I can finish the last 4 pages of a term paper by midnight. Some days it just isn’t worth crawling out of the crinkle tunnel. :) (I feel better now, thanks for being here, MegaOrb!)
And once again my early comment has been deleted. All I did was comment on the cuteness of the scarecrow, made a reference to Elvis poofs and sunflowers, and wondered when we would see the images of Puck. Having posts randomly disappear for no reason is taking a lot of fun out of participating here.
Anyone who doesn’t like 4-letter bad words should pass over my comment. I have been looking out the window and there has been……SNOW…… Not too much so far and it has melted as soon as it fell, but still!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Further south in Alberta and Saskatchewan got a lot more, but it is still way too early for that awful stuff.
Went to an amusement/water park over the weekend. Sure could have used the water park. Alas, they close the pools too early in the midwest. Need to keep them open till end of September! 90+ degrees all this month.

Decorative scarecrows attract tissue paper sunflowers. Definitely something to crow about.

I’ve heard lately that people chase crows away from their yards by hanging fake crows upside down from tree limbs.

Love Lupin’s snazzy reporter hat! I half-expect him to go into an Edward R Murrow impression, or pick up an old flash camera.

I have no clue what the idea of Decorative Crows & Scarecrows is about. I don’t think we have that in the U.K.

The latest weather report is cloudy with a chance of acorns, giving way to a sunflower front.
