Ok serious mode. I kinda expected this for a while now seeing how close they’ve come. There were some who wanted them to stay platonic, but come on now, this is Luann, platonic boy-girl relationships don’t exist. And once the whole step-siblings problem got taken off the table it really was a matter of time. You know that trope where the characters kiss after the climax of their story? This is it and hopefully, it’ll lead to an actual relationship.

Anyway, I’m gonna go prepare for the inevitable “but GUNTHER” argument with Murdock ;) Cheers :-)

A match made in heaven! Tom will lean on Les to learn the ropes in order to become a breadwinner worthy of his little girl, Les has the nihilistic attitude to become a baron of finance and Tiff gets to lose weight and let Les shower her with gifts.

Remember the lengths Les went to in order to give Pru an extravagant Christmas gift.

About time Tiffany kissed someone for real. Let’s see if she finally manages to cross First Base.

I’m really happy for them. They both suffered from Ann’s treatment. Tiffany is grateful for Les’s help. It might not lead up to dating, but for the moment it’s just nice that they are happy.

It’s wonderful when two soulmates meet?

Mind Blown! And, both of them have come such a long way, slowly turning from the Dark Side into the light! Both of them had gone through the School of Hard Knocks, with troubled (and neglected) childhoods, spent time tormenting and bullying their classmates, but slowly, and agonizingly, learned to become human beings!

And y’know, this doesn’t look like a Deus Ex Machina or a plot contrivance. This has been building for a long time, since The Fuse lingerie party, when Tiff said “I can handle Les” (by appealing to the little head), and then they started talking, and sharing their mutual hate of Ann, and their parental issues growing up. They became friends, and Les’ evolutionary path taught him how to be unselfish. So when he voluntarily helped Tiff with the ultrasound, without expecting any “payment” in return, look how it all paid off!

I hope they continue to grow, and stay on their path to redemption.

I am really curious how Tiffany is going to respond to this action. She has never shown much interest in Les. Les is Les and he is interested in anyone who is female.

I think Tiffany just intended this to be a ‘thank you’ kiss, and Les decided to turn it into something more. Interesting development. Now what, Tiffany?

Tiffany has never had a boyfriend and Leslie has never been unselfish before; always had misguided expectations.

I would be more impressed except she did the same thing with Gunther and it led nowhere. That said, I would be delighted to see Gunther’s reaction if he got up one morning, went to the kitchen, and found Leslie making breakfast for Tiffany.

I’m happy for both of them Ann has been thorn in their side. I don’t think Tiff was expecting this type of kiss more like a thank you kiss.

I am all for seeing how this relationship goes. It felt wrong with Pru, cause while he might have actually cared for her, his execution was criminal. And not the beginning it felt wrong to have him go after Tiff cause he was objectifying at first. But now it is the right time to see if this flourish, because he has drop some of his sleaze ways.

As for the kiss, I’m going to go with mixed messages to start. I’m sure the both of them knee she was going to go for a peck on the cheek, but now they will wonder, what if…

Wow SO unexpected. I thought they were destined to be just good buddies with shared frustrations brought forth by the romance of their parents. But then there are zillions of romance books out there about step siblings falling in love so I suppose it is common.

Another very large arc brewing. In the past, Gunther has made several major pitches to win over Tiffany – none made it to second base. Gunther now has a girlfriend – Bets – but we’re not sure how that’s going to work out. With Les & Tiff possibly becoming an item – in Gunther’s house – we may see Gunther’s psyche blow a fuse. We got a hint – when Gunther crabbed to Les about not folding a towel in front of Tiffany.

…Real good thing they’re not gonna be stepsiblings now, I suppose. XD

Les hasn’t matured enough for Tiff. She sees him as a friend and was going to kiss him on the check.

OK, I haven’t done it for a while anyway, but will acknowledge that I’ve stopped calling him Less. Good on ya GnK for turning around a bully and petty thief so as to be someone to kinda pull for. Sorry, Mordock – I think they actually mean it.

ya know i can’t say that i’ve ever seen her Kiss a guy even if it was by Accident and the guy wasn’t one of Luann’s boyfriends or it was to get back at Luann. this may have been an accident but who knows this may be something oh i dunno Les isn’t the most likeable guy to say the least but he’s more bearable as well than he used to be and i do think a lot of that has to do with Gunny and of course Punk as well. so i can live with seeing this rather than have Ann Eiffel back

There Now. I feel much better. Well, this comes as little surprise since this moment has been building up bit by bit since 2017. Every opportunity has been taken to put these two together. And now, the “payoff.” It looks like Tiffany gets her first B/F, Les gets the girl of his dreams. Did he earn this moment? Yeah, dammit, it he did. He’s been unfailingly by Tiffany side for two years. And like Brad was to Toni, Les, like it or not, is Tiffany’s “hero.” I told ya’ll Les was gonna come out the real winner here last week.

A long time ago I said that putting Les with Tiffany was a story opportunity G&K couldn’t past up. And by golly they didn’t. So what’s next? At the very least Les has a reason to clean up his room and take those girl pics down. And now he has a steady girl, his hated mother has been destroyed and he has no reason to scowl ever again. And Tiffany’s father, likes him. But is Les really ready for a steady girlfriend? Will Tiffany proudly show Les off? And will she try to change him or meet him halfway in this realtionship? And it will be interesting to she the reaction of the rest of the gang when word gets out. One thought. Looks like Tiffany won’t be going after Kip in the Fall. In fact, that whole Hall A story angle might have just gotten tossed. One other thing if this relationship stands the test of time and rolls over into marriage. Will Les ever tell his offspring about “Grandma Ann?” H3LL, will Tiffany even want kids?

Anyway it We may soon be treated to a “happy” dinner scene with both lads and their dates sitting around the dinner table in front of a beaming Irma. Congrats to all that wanted this. Especially You, Dog, who said yesterday that these two would be swapping spit before the year is out. It’s amazing what a ‘cherry trick’ and kitten will do for a guy, huh? Dang it. :(

Well!! My argument that they are just friends who share pathos with less than perfect parents, not romantically inclined, may just be shot completely out of the water, maybe. The surprising kiss could be largely platonic or even surprising—spur of the moment—given the surprised looking expressions on Tiff and Les’s faces, and in their eyes. Not romance or passion, although that may come. They definitely need romantic partners, although here it is the heiress falling for the poor boy. Maybe. If that is the case that could leave yet another way grifter sociopath mom may try to worm her back in her son’s good graces…Nah. Okay so which girl will pad out of which bedroom first in the Gulag, or make breakfast, maybe all live together. Gasp!!!! Mordy cpuld you take that?

For some reason the song “I never knew love like this before” by Stephanie Mills popped into my head when I saw today’s Strip. This development doesn’t surprise me in the least. In fact, I am surprised it took this long, considering how Tiffany seemed ready to sleep with him that day he came to her dorm room a while back. Maybe Greg and Karen decided to “polished” Les a bit more quell the few noisy complaints about Les’ so called character. And in the process, they gave us guy most of us can really root for.What does the future hold for Les and Tiffany? Who knows? Certainly more growth and character development. And a steaming romance that I hope both parties are ready for.

Too bad Mordock. But despite your “pleas,” I don’t see Greg and Karen ever investing that amount of time, care and effort to develop Gunther. His character as it stands now, is a creative dead-end. He’s just not worth the effort.Bottom line. When it came to Tiffany, Les went up against Gunther and Les, in the won fair and square. Sorry to be the bearer of “bad news.”

The fact that Ann got the boot was very unsatisfying. From all the shenanigans that she has pulled, she has NEVER received ANY of the just rewards that she has deserved. She escaped from her fraudulent lingerie line apparently unscathed, and now, all she gets is a one-way trip out the door. She needs to REALLY get hers. Badly. Nothing like death, mind you, but something really, really good.

Seems to me I remember a time when Luann DID kiss Gunther, after Gunther rescued her dog. Or was that just something I imagined? At any rate, sometimes a kiss is just a kiss and not an indication of a lasting relationship. But, between Mordy/Moose’s anger at Luann for not falling in love with Gunther and his belief that Bernice is somehow Luann’s ‘sidekick’ (instead of Chief Snarker), and Cheapskate’s insistence that Luann is no longer a major part of the Luann story, the comments here are really downers. Wish Discus would come back to ArcaMax; comments there did not have such a large Luannhater membership. And users who posted nastiness could be blocked, too…

A New Beginning — The Next Con Artists

Need to have popcorn ready for the morning read this week. Not so much for the comic but really what’s said here. So many negative vibes over a little thing. Relax, let’s see what happens. Les has changed, Tiffany has too. Maybe something will happen (cool), maybe not (cool too). Les has been there for Tiffany all through this and been her sounding board (sometime he’s done good, sometimes he could have done better). Tiffany has done similar with her selections in life so lets see if it is a relationship or not and see what happens.

I am pretty sure this will not go anywhere. It was a spontaneous thank you. I’ve had female friends do that to me from time to time when I have done things to help them out. Especially when they really had no idea what else to do to solve the problem. I see this as just a thank you. nothing more.

I too did not see this coming. With the exception of Ann, I don’t see these two having much in common to build a relationship around. I also don’t think Tiff intended her kiss to be of this type. She just wanted to express gratitude in an affectionate way and Les may be getting (or rather he takes) the wrong message. But we will see.

This has been such a long, enjoyable and satisfying arc for Tiffany and, yes, Les too! If. if it develops further, it is an interesting way to keep Ann Eiffel around. Maybe we can watch her butt get kicked by all those she bullied. Yes, I think I saw a “zing” too. It would be fun to watch!! By the way, where is Luann? Off for the summer secretly visiting Quill? Hmmmm??

Tiff adores her dad; she gets that dreamy look on her face whenever she thinks of him. He alone could have the power to make her buckle down and study at Mooney, i.e. if he turns around and becomes a real father and mentor. Tiff’s other friends have tried to influence her in that direction but to no avail. But Tom could really force her hand.

Les took advantage of that kiss on the check that Tiffany was going in for. See how fast he is turning his head. It sure shocked Tiffany.

I was horrified and sickened at first, but after getting thru all (most) of the comments, I’m getting to be less green. Especially with the comparison made by Mordock999 to lowly Brad and gorgeous Toni. Brad got a bit better looking after he scored Toni, so maybe Les will clean up well too. Tiffany and Les are NOT a couple yet! They are both high from getting rid of Evil Ann. They are acting on endorphins. They are friends. Tiff was planning a friendly kiss on the cheek and is surprised by the kiss on the lips. They are at work right now. Nothing more will develop at work.

And there it is!

Although… it’s not a certainty for Tiffany and Les! Remember, Kip Lee was introduced and is waiting in the wings. He was mighty interested in the “babe in the private suite” at one time.

IF… and it’s a BIG IF… Tiffany and Les “couple up” that leaves Luann in a real bind. Her only prospect is Jack. Quill returning would be a cop out of the first magnitude. Gunther may split off as a potential suitor (he nearly was a few times). Les could then inherits Bets – which would be an interesting match.

If Luann finds someone to pair up with I’m afraid this strip will turn into some teenage-ish who’s-with-who. who’s breaking up-with who, who’s moved in with who faux drama. CRINGE

Wow! Can’t wait to see Les’s reaction tomorrow!

I think she was going for a kiss on his cheek and he took advantage of the situation, but as surprised as she looks, she may not be as adverse to it as we might expect!

is it coincidence or Karma that 2 characters who both were minor villains (antagonists) in the strip would eventually end up together?

Looking at Tiff’s reaction, this is gonna be start of new trouble…(part of me still wants her and Gunther together. Bets is a cutie, but she feels…offf-putting)

Looking at the last panel more carefully, on my full-size laptop, it looks to me that Les suddenly moved his head so that instead of a kiss on the cheek, for example, Tiffany found herself kissing him on the lips, not on the cheek, not in any kind of romantic way. I think where the kiss ended up was a complete surprise to Tiffany. What happens next is her response, it could be a slap to the face. If so I doubt if Les would mind it that much. She might also have a very different, encouraging reaction. I think, even more, that to assume this means romance is jumping the gun quite a bit yet.

I dunno, Les has led a mostly angry troubled life as the castoff son of Ann Eiffel and he carries her genes. Outlook uncertain…

This keeps Ann in the picture for sure, i’m guessing other commenters already beat me to this brilliant bit of insight….

Today feels like a traditional accidental kiss on the typical 1970s-1980s type of romantic comedy. So, what does it foretell? What I read visually is Tiffany planning a kiss on the cheek, perhaps and Les turning around to respond to her statement… and so that accidentally they lock lips:

1. Will they discover passion for each other and continue to kiss in a nearly groping fashion like the medical crew usually does on “Grey’s Anatomy”?

2. Will they both blush, and red-faced, separate apart somewhat like Luann and Gunther?

3. Will they kiss for a moment, and in hindsight, like when we had Bernice and Piro kiss, Tiffany just realizes there are no “sparks”?

4. Will one of the pair feel passion and the other of the pair not so much as is typical in the “kiss” if it occurs early in the romantic comedy?

From my perspective, I do not really know, but I am going to hazard a guess and suggest it will be #4…. but, not making any bets about which one of the two may be the more “enamored”.

However, in a broader context, if a romance does develop from this… it feels a bit sad that their “coming together” is a result of shared anger, frustration, and hurt….. it doesn’t seem a great foundation for a couple to base a relationship upon. And for me, that makes me suspect that any “relationship” that does arise will be short-lived.

I am a little surprised at the maturity shown by both of them at the tail end (?) of this arc. Especially by Tiffany. And by the support she is getting from her father. Bodes well for their relationship going forward. If their relationship repairs, then her relationship with men could potentially get better and who knows where THAT could go. I mean even LUANNE could mature…nah, that would never happen.

I theorized this was one of the fallout possibilities…

Well, now… See what can happen when you help rescue a maiden from a wicked witch?

Les has grown a bit from being an unruly scamp to more of a knight in slightly tainted armour. I only hope that Tiffany’s father (the king) will not hold his lineage against him.

I have to laugh – Les is facing one way in panel 2, and the other way in panel 3. If you look at that part of the strip with your eyes slightly crossed, the images appear to move to where Les is kissing himself. That gave me a bigger laugh than the strip today. Discovered that quite by accident.

Its going to turn out that Les is great kisser and has taken Tiffany completely by surprise.

He is a brother from another mother after all.
