Everyone always thinks that satan and God are on equal footing. They are not. God is in control. Satan, per the Bible, is the Prince of the world and is looking for those he may deceive and devour. He is NOT in charge of Hell and is never noted as such in the Bible. He IS thrown into the Lake of Fire at the end.

Eph 2:2 You followed the ways of this world and obeyed the devil. He rules the world, and his spirit has power over everyone who doesn’t obey God.

It’s easy to see how it could be when it happened over 70 years ago and nobody recognized it for what it was at the time.
