Not only is the drawing and coloring technically great, the storytelling is the best in strips today. Reminds me of the best of late-period Eisner. Truly amazing how you effortlessly lead the eye through the story.
Things are recovering: slowly to be sure and painfully. However, it shows what can happen when people stop fighting those things they can’t control – like the fact that the disease exists, is communicable and is deadly, and concentrate on what they can control – like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
My town just held its annual Christmas Parade. Instead of having crowds lining the street as bands and floats passed by, the bands and floats were socially distanced, lining the street and the spectators drove by in their cars.
We can make it work if we just stop fighting it and use our intelligence to overcome it.
It’s your choice, curse the darkness or light a candle.
I have always hated snow days. Not because of school, but because that means I “get” to say home and deal with the snow. Shovel, salt, and all that. Still, working from home sort of makes them less relevant now. Kids are going to be sooo messed up.
I think remote schooling will become the wave of the future. Think of all the money it will save. No school buses, no gas for school buses. No need to heat or cool school building. No need to school buildings. At home remote schooling is the way it is going to be from now on.
Good to have the Non Sequitor Sunday COMIC back. I had missed them greatly! And today’s was a great one. I wonder what Calvin would be doing in today’s world? Same reaction?
My county is closing schools on snow days and not running @ home only sessions anyways. The main reason is that while most kids are at home, many are going to central distance-learning spots around the county (places that usually do after-care like martial arts and STEM clubs) and it is dangerous to send the kids there, too. Plus the county is concerned that for heavy snow days and ice days, there might be power or network outages.
So when the call is made to have no in-person hybrid for those doing it (about 1/2 the students in the county), it is simply no school at all.
That said, not sure what the equiv of a “2 hour delayed opening” is going to be in this new model…
We had snow days built into the calendar. After one snowy winter (following a couple quiet winters) we were told there would be no field trips or picnic in June because we had used up all the extra days. Until then I did not know the calendar was set up that way.

At our house, if it is snowing hard enough, the internet goes down (we use a wireless connection). Hasn’t happened yet, but they tell us it could.

Around here, the schools said they would have snow days, since they want the kids to go out and play and be kids.
