Luann is pretty coy for someone who has probably never flirted herself. Time for a boyfriend already! Maybe run into a more mature Arron Hill or something.

Psst, Luann? Tell Bernice that Jack is going to be the “subject” of this “art class you’ll attending in January. And that she should really, really, REALLY come along because “drawing stuff” is FUN and sometimes quite profitable, as their Beloved Creator once found out!

Cute and funny colloquy between friends. Like TG above I wonder if this is a predictor of things to come with Jack and Bernice, although I am more hopeful that it will be explored much more during the New Year. As for Luann? She is the namesake, and this is her Luannverse.

Luann has always been a hopeless romantic, but Bernice might have hit the jackpot with Jack.

After helping her bestie with her family, she wants to help her with her crush ♡. So nice! Luann is always ready to help those in need ♡. I hope someone will help her someday.

Luann is definitely okay with Bernice liking Jack. She’s a good friend.

I thought we were coasting this week. So now that Jack’s name has been mentioned, will Bernice find the courage she had last week with meeting her family, to admit her feelings for Jack? Or are we in for more denial and innuendos? On the other hand, I’m not sure Jack is interested in more than a friendship. It sure seems Luann is encouraging more. ;-) Nice that Monstro makes her happy and she can admit that.

Extremely minor question, I know, but why did Bernice change seats between P1 and P2?

OK, so Luann isn’t interested in Jack because… well, because she’s an idiot. Bernice IS interested because… lust? Sure, I suppose. He’s in excellent shape. But, she doesn’t seem lustful. Crush? Maybe. But grow up and act on it or forget about it. She isn’t a silly teen. Admiration of how he speaks and behaves and treats animals? Say, that could be it! He’s one of the better people this strip has seen in ages. Wouldn’t that be an interesting arc? She dates, she kisses, she maybe even falls in love, and dare I say it becomes sexually active? But, let’s be real. None of this will happen. She’ll just Charlie Brown him and miss out on some potentially solid life experience.

Hmm. I am surprised that Luann has suggested this…. I was still expecting her to be jealous if Bernice pursued a relationship with Jack. This is actually a good suggestion of growth in Luann! I have been really enjoying the brief glimpses I have had of Bernice’s story while I have been unable to be here regularly. I am hoping/thinking I can now once again rejoin commenting regularly too, so that also makes me happy.

Although…. even though Bernice and Jack can be a fun relationship to watch develop….. I am still hopeful that Greg brings back Piro in some fashion as more of a regular again…. if not with Bernice…. with others in the main cast. I really thought he was an interesting character…. to good to “volcano-ize” IMO.
