I’ve never gotten that. People hate raisins in their cookies, cinnamon rolls, and (probably) breakfast cereal… but they will guzzle dried up grapes (raisins) in liquid form. Sigh… guess people prefer to not to be in reality.
Anybody remember the great 1986 grape clay-mation short, where grapes toured singing I Heard It Through The Grapevine? Sold a lotta grapes and raisins that year.
Okay, I’m with the wiz here. When your mouth is watering and your wrapping your tongue around a warm, spicy, sweet sticky cinnamon roll who the hell wants to contact a squishy soggy raisin? …ick
Good Lord, never realized there are so many that don’t like raisins in their cinnamon roll.. They.. are just as essential as the icing and a generous dab of butter. Raisins enhance most baked goods.. Oatmeal cookies.. Banana bread.. Carrot cake… Zucchini loaf.. Butter tarts……….
I like raisins in oatmeal cookies and in my bowl of oatmeal, or by the handful… but a good cinnamon roll doesn’t need any additions! And a good carrot cake doesn’t include raisins either. They make the texture a bit off in some things IMO.
G-d ALLOW us to eat a cinnamon roll with raisins in the form of a Thomas English muffin !!!!! Gd is a tribe that made it to Gdansk, the Gd river, Goderich and Gadshill. Some people decided to put Gd on their chemistry table in area 64 closest to Wisconsin Antigo BARS.
To all above: thanks for the laughs and the sheer fun of reading your comments. Certainly added a few degrees to the low outdoor and emotional temps today. Reading newspaper comics used to be a morning of fun, but being able to add and read online comments really is a lot better. Keep ’em coming.
I HATE Raisins! Although as a kid, I would beg my mom to buy Raisin Bran cereal, and eat all the raisins out of the box. They were sugar covered, and dried out even more than usual. Fast forward 25 years, my mom would bring me baggies of Raisin Bran raisins that she picked out of her cereal. I once asked her why and she said she doesn’t like the raisins in the cereal. I told her she could buy Bran Flakes without raisins, and she said it wasn’t the same.
I feel sorry for the raisin haters. Now I suggest there’s a whole new ingredient to hate. How about a muffin mix with a cinnamon streusel topping. Just found that one a few weeks ago and devour it. Instead of raisins, we added craisins, which put it at the top of our coffee & nosh list. Something new to hate, right, folks?? But we still like raisins in almost anything else that can use them.

What about raisins in Christmas Pudding?
sappha58 almost 4 years ago
Unless the fruit is the point of the dish (like a cobbler), I do NOT want fruit in my food. It adds an unpleasant texture and flavors to the food.

If we could only do that with other foods that get messed up like that!

Back in those days they weren’t always raisins.

Then, there are those who believe that pineapple is a suitable topping on a pizza.
I don’t want to leave out those who essentially burn a filet, then add steak sauce to it.
GGGGRRRRR!!!!

The Wiz knows what’s good! I don’t like them either. Except in my mom’s Christmas plum pudding.

the only ‘raisin’ in a cinnamon roll is the yeast!

This is consistent with a very old Hart/Parker gag in which the Wiz hates prunes. In a restaurant he orders prunes flambé so he can watch them burn.

Not sure why people seem to dislike baked-in raisins. To me they’re sweet pockets of deliciousness that add natural moisture to the pastry.
