The Pulitzer Committee calls you, you don’t call them. I once received a letter telling me I had been nominated for a Pulitizer for literature. After I stopped laughing, genre novels aren’t short listed for Pulitizers, I noticed the request to send money to Nigeria for the entry fee.
“Quality” is one of those words that needs a further description to make clear what you mean. Kind of like my ex yelling “Behave!” at the kid. He is behaving… badly.
Query for those who’ve been following Non Sequitur for a long time: The uniform shade of light purple applied to the non-focal characters and backgrounds — is that mauve, puce, or lilac?
Yesterday Trump appointee Federal Judge Kernodle recognized the quality of the latest attempt to ignore the Electoral College (filed by Louie Gohmert of Texas). VP Pence applauded it as the right decision. The Justice Department had supported quashing the attempt to destroy democracy. It should be hailed as a triumph of Truth, Justice, and the American Way! And yet, in the White House, someone felt cheated… Or rather felt disappointed that cheating (which has worked so well for his entire life) may fail this time.
Even rejection notices have to be carefully worded. Lots of folks have lawyers on speed-dial and there’s no one as likely to feel insulted as a hack who has been recognized as his talent deserves.
I have a rather large file of rejection letters going back decades, when manuscripts were submitted on paper! While I have never heard from the Nobel or Pulitzer committees, I’m pretty sure they’ve heard of me, even if it makes them wince. That makes me smile.
Reminds me of how “Snoopy” was sent two rejection notices, one for the current submission and, as a proactive time saver, one for any future submission.
I love this one because I have a cousin in Iowa who continuously rights to his Senator complaining about voter fraud. Unfortunately I don’t think he would get the connection.

Maybe the bozos at Fox “News” are wearing college sweatshirts while broadcasting from home.

I was drinking coffee when my lawyer’s secretary referred to a “decease and desist” letter. I had to buy a new keyboard.

Writers collect rejection letters. It’s like a hobby for them.

Never write for the rewards. Just do your best and then let them find you,(as they will). …a little money helps though.

From what I’ve been able to deduce, we have at least half a dozen writers among us. Cool.
