Those who guessed that Shannon would appear today were sure on the money. My question is: was Shannon there all night or did she just get dropped off at 6am in the morning? Memo to Brad: door lock, extra strong!
Boy already the nasty comments about Shannon. It’s kind of ironic that she is talking about being a superhero who shows up when bad things are happening. She is an innocent, if aggravating child, but Luann is dealing with young adults who can have very real dangerous things happen to them. Monday I am quite sure the arc will continue with Tara and Bernice and Luann having to deal with the most serious situations that can be imagined in a comic.
How long is Shannon going to stay whatever-age-she-is while everyone else is going to college, taking on jobs, and other things showing that time’s actually passing in Luannverse? Even Punk is growing up. But Shannon has barely changed in how long now?
La onomatopeya del primer panel podría indicar que se trata de una ambulancia que traslada a una chica atropellada afuera de The Fuse, pero se trata de Super Shannon, quien apareció precisamente cuando algo malo acaba de suceder.
You’re sure you still want kids, Brad? Better be using condoms or the pill or a diaphragm or whatever will prevent the conception of a baby you won’t be bothered to discipline.
At that age my daughter would pounce upon our bed in her Wonder Woman underroos, singing the theme song from the Lynda Carter classic at the top of her lungs.
The question begs, however…. how on Earth did Shannon get in there with the two of them sleeping?
I am going to presume that Jonah stopped by rather hurriedly because he had just finished making and feeding Shannon his “stellar Dad” big breakfast of pancakes where he made the pancakes into letters that spelled out “Super Shannon” to encourage Shannon’s self esteem, followed by a healthy bowl of mixed, fresh fruit that he lovingly hand picked and sliced, and a yogurt for Shannon to provide needed calcium.
Furthermore, Jonah has had to unfortunately hurry along rather quickly because he was close but not quite late in terms of getting to his new, permanent “gig” as the musical celebrant and Music Director for the “Pitts Community Church” down the road.
In addition, this may likely be Shannon’s last surprise visit, as loving dad Jonah has taken it upon himself to also have Shannon receive special after-school guidance lessons on decorum and she is almost finished and has been at the head of her class. After this week, Jonah will be encouraging Shannon to participate as a member of the Choir at the Pitts Community Church, where she will become a breakout sensation…. and will soon be lead singer.
But… for today…. I guess after Jonah left, TJ thought it would be “humorous” to let “Super Shannon” bound and bounce into the room. :)
With the intensity of what transpired in yesterday’s comic, today was a welcome “lower-key” set of panels.
However, what may Monday morning bring? Hopefully, Greg will at least be continuing with the Tara arc… and it will not be a rather cruel cliff hanger and we jump to something else. But, if it continues…. what will happen?
a) Tara will be a bit bruised and battered from the altercation, but will recover, and she decides to stay in Pitts…. and this continues to forge her transformation in this comic into a more full-fledged, thoughtful character with a purpose in life. (This is my hoped for choice.)
b) Tara will be unconscious, hovering near death… and after Luann and Bernice summon an ambulance, we will have an arc of uncertainty this week on whether Tara lives or dies (aka, the “Telenovella”/“Soap Opera” approach)… but in the end, Tara will eventually pull through, but will then still leave for Utah. (Seems a plausible way this may be handled, though the “soapy” drama is not so much to my liking.)
c) Tara will die, and the comic explores the feelings of death and loss in a “PSA” sort of fashion. (I hope not.)
d) Tara will die, and the comic will cantilever further and continue further down a path of very deep, dark, harsh stories and will become more graphic and mean spirited. (Again, I hope not.)
When my kids were this age I’d keep them up until 9 pm or later. That way they would sleep until 7 am. I like quiet in the morning and I enjoyed spending time with the kids at night.
Jonah’s disappearance from his daughter’s life has to be sorted out. It is lazy of the Evanses, and insulting to their readers, that they have let this go on for so long. 5 years since his last sighting? Ridiculous.

I guess Brad and Toni don’t sleep in the nude when Shannon is spending the night and for good reason.

“Super Shannon,” eh?
This “superhero” once stopped Ann Eiffel dead in her tracks by darn near biting her finger off.
Too bad the kid wasn’t around yesterday.
This girl named “Tara” could have used her “help.”

More than once, I have speculated that Jonah no longer exists within the Luann-verse.
I take this as proof positive that Shannon never goes home to Jonah anymore.
We need a resolution to the Jonah situation.
As if we’re going to get that any time soon.

TJ is the one person who has had the best relationship with Shannon.
He should officially designate Shannon as Super Brat, a typical comic book superhero.
Shannon will be delighted, accept the title, and fall into the trap.
TJ will point out that all comic book heroes never use their powers for their self interest.
(Spiderman delivering pizza by webslinging?)
Shannon will have to use her powers for good.
