Whoa. Hadn’t heard that one in… forever? Kids might do that, I guess, but if you WANT the apples you want them not to hit the ground (bruises and possible contamination from ground-dwelling bacteria or fungi).
It seems to me that Earl just didn’t care enough about this and that he really didn’t want to be involved in making the decision. … so he made what he knew Opal would consider a ridiculous choice.
Carpeting IS ugly these days. Mom wanted to get carpet in some shade of ugly (brown or tan) and I held out for wine colored, but only because there weren’t any really good colors available. What we ended up with is warm and inviting and Mom loves it. Still isn’t what I wanted but it’s better than puke brown, or tan, or gray, or some off-white crap.

get a lady’s opinion, Opal, like from your sister Pearl or your daughter Sylvia and see if Earl get the last laugh

We decided to go strictly bare wood floors or tile years ago. Carpet just gets really nasty after awhile.

Tree shaken. Now what?

Yes, this reminds me of real life. Your opinion is wanted, nay, demanded and once offered it is heartily dissed.

Lime green shag… if that doesn’t scream 60s-70s, I don’t know what does. Totally groovy, man…

This is so appropriate! I started shopping online for area rugs for our new home. I showed him my choices and he thought they were too bold…

A line from The Beatle’s Matchbox. Except Ringo says peaches instead of apples

The problem is that “nice” and “lime green shag” go together about as well as “kosher” and “pork chop”.

Speaking of tree shaking; my apple tree is so loaded with apples this year the branches are breaking.

If I liked your apples, I would pretend I don’t. I’d insult them, so you would throw them at me.

Deja vu. I used to offer an opinion, not anymore.

Still one of my favorite lines from a song “Really love your peaches, want to shake your tree” from “The Joker” (Steve Miller Band)
