Meh. I build models. Much more fun.

I’ve met folks who were looking in the sand of the playground. They said they don’t get old coins, but they do get a lot of “stuff”.

Well played, Opal.

He could always go to Oak Island on a vacation and help those guys out with that nifty metal detector.

If you check out this hobby on YouTube or various social media groups, you’ll find that they mostly find pull tabs, bottle caps, lost keys, etc. Some with snorkling or scuba gear will find lost rings for a fee.

Earl could always take a short vacation to Oak Island after the winter storms and help out Rick & Marty with that nifty metal detector.

I don’t approve of what Opal is doing. If he figures it out, his opinion of her is going to drop.

I lost a wedge for splitting wood in a muddy area, and used a metal detector to find it!

Never understood why senior citizens are so fascinated with metal detectors. I think I can find better hobbies for my retirement years, which hopefully aren’t too far away.

He gets the benefit of time to himself, earphones blocking unwanted chatter, and eyes focused on the prize. Not a bad exchange.

Sweet idea. But if Opal did bury coins for Earl to find, their yard would be a mess from both of them digging. Plus, he would be able to tell where the earth was disturbed without a metal detector. I know it’s just a comic strip, so normal logic doesn’t apply. -

I like the metal detectors used on Aussie Gold Hunters show. I just wish the show had English subtitles ’cause I can barely understand what those folks are saying.

I bought a Heath Kit metal detector, had to build it myself, 40 years ago. Current total; $3 in coins, 5 bottle caps, a couple of nails, one property stake (guy behind me wanted to check the survey mark) and a NICE horse shoe. The horse shoe was the best find; in the water, about 4 inches, under a bunch of rocks, rocky beach. The history of the area suggested it was a landing spot for ships that were transporting horse, 1800s. Now in the house clean and paint black.

Coins? My Honey uses spoons, drill bits, metal buttons. Whatever is handy. I found a can opener at the beach, two days ago. The next day, a can of soup. What are the odds of that?

Opal is more devious then first thought!

Fish and Game does the same thing with fish stocking programs. Keeps us busy and out of trouble.

My dad had one of those. We never found anything of value. But we did find some interesting trash occasionally.

$30 a month? Subscriptions are con games which nickel and dime me to death … especially ad choked magazines.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha…

I want Opal to define “ old” coins.
