I think the worst part of her outfit is the hat. It doesn’t match with it at all.

She should have gone with something sexier and changed up her hair style for her Muse Makeover.

Anyone remember the girl named Six from the show “Blossom”? That’s how I’m picturing Bern talking.

Nil should think of it as gaudy gift wrap. That is if he can inspire her to go along.

Greg forgot to draw the patterns on Bernice’s shirt. I think it doesn’t matter how Bernice is dressed. I think it is the way she talks, the subjects she brings up, etc. Intelligence turns on Nil. When I was young, I drooled over good-looking guys but always was attracted to the intelligent guys for the stimulating and interesting conversations. I ended up marrying a nice-looking – not good-looking/handsome/hot but nice-looking – guy because he has a dry wit and is a good conversationalist about a wide range of topics. So, I get this couple. I don’t think Bernice notices how oddly Nil is dressed – just his intelligence. Jack is the guy she drools over but would ultimately choose Nil.

Nil is being rude…so they have some things in common, after all.

What happened to the printed flower shirt that Bernice was wearing.

I like Nil’s (very dry) sense of humor.

Bernice is trying to connect with the creepy bozo jn his vintage Jack the Ripper outfit, but what effort has he made to do something nice for Bernice?

That is funny – the new outfit does not quit speaking. Just like Bernice. A perfect match.

Nil is feeling too many emotions. So Bernice’s new look works, it inspires him! The problem is that she inspires him too much and not as he imagined, which could be a good thing. Bernice is really excited, she hadn’t been shown that happy in years! She’s really cute♡, even if that hat spoils the whole thing a bit. But if Bernice’s new attitude is too much for Nil, I hope they can discuss it and find a way.

I agree with some others—this arc IS getting stale!!

I’m looking forward to the one where Ol’ Man Ferrell bails on taking Tiff to Maui.

Bernice’s fashion statement doesn’t stop and neither does her story that led up to it.

I think the outfit is cute. Certainly the cutest I’ve ever seen Bernice.

Nil may not like her new look but I bet someone in this strip will. Stay spontaneous Bern!

the clothes are too loud and busy; she looks like a christmas tree. Nil like simplicity.

Maybe she’ll see that Nil doesn’t like the outfit, and she’ll take it off, right in front of him. That might modify the arc of the story a bit…

If Bernice doesn’t stop talking about herself there won’t be anything in the panels bur words.

Bern is just a little off to be a good muse. Now Dez would be a great muse for someone with great talent. Nil seems to be an average talent, IMHO.

Oh Bernice . . . you missed the point from day one. You were already what he was looking for.

Bernice’s problem is, and always has been that she talks too much, and thinks too highly of herself.

Wow – I never thought I’d say this about Luann, but I’m done reading it until this muse crap is over with. A quick scan and the word “muse” pretty much jumps out at me. Hit the delete button.

For someone who wants to be a psychiatrist, she really bad at reading people.

Any fool knows that Muses expose a lot of skin, and favor diaphanous garments. Bern looks like a cleaning lady.

I’m beginning to think Bernice is self-sabotaging.

Well I think it’s cute, thoughtful, shows her in a new, interesting light, shows how much she really likes (loves) Nil, so the question is, what does he think? I kind of think it will work out, but how they create it, well lets see.

Bernice talks a LOT more than she listens. She will be a great therapist. /s

I’m a bit amazed at some of the comments that come up in a three-panel comic such as this one. It’s easy to get involved.

For my part, I guess I’m disappointed at how this arc could end. It HAS to end and move on to the next one, but it’s unfortunate that it has to be written in such a way that makes both characters less dimensional – for lack of a better word. Nil is going to reject Bernice’s new look. Bernice will be disappointed. The question is how they will grow from it.

I don’t envy Greg – it is quite tough to be a comic author of a series like this. It’s rare you get the chance for them to really grow and permanently change, like the Toni and Brad arc.

Please let this arc die. Please

I always thought of a muse as being a bit alluring, not looking like Sister Mary Frances from second grade.

Muse Bernice is even more unpleasant than Egghead Bernice.

For four days now, Bernice has been effusive about her feelings for Nil. She has been more certain and expressive about her feelings for Nil than at any other point in this relationship. Consequently, she is probably very vulnerable at this point.

In the far and recent past, this is the point where the creator(s) have crushed her psyche. (ala Zane & Piro) I hope that Nil turns out to be a better love interest for Bernice and they can work out this “muse” schtick.

Tyge says that, for the last 4 days, B has been talking about her feelings for Nil. But what I noticed, for the last 4 strips showing B talking to Nil, it seems to be B talking about the clothes she’s wearing and how they make her feel like a muse. I’m not seeing that as B expressing her feelings for Nil…

The mood is ever changing……

Nil gets all the downsides of an overly-attached girlfriend and none of the benefits.

Bernice is so self-absorbed in her new “status”, and on such an ego trip about it, she can’t think about anyone but herself, which is pretty much to be expected of her character. Nil needs to find someone who cares enough to comb the hair out of his eyes.

Nil is still thinking of leather and studs.

He wanted his muse to be herself, not this. (Like the look, but the hat doesn’t work). Maybe Nil finally said “yes” to Fred.I kind of liked his art before he had a muse, but to each his own… ;-))

That’s Nil’s polite way of saying I would have preferred the leather.
