Will Tom Feral come home to raise his long neglected daughter? And give up Tokyo? Hardly. Does Tiffany really miss her dad? How can you miss what you never had?
GOSH?! Is Tom Farrell actually going to pay more attention to his daughter? Will that include time together? This is what Tiff has overtly wished for at least since her time at Mooney U!
Somehow I just don’t trust GnK to make this happen. After all, their track record is pretty dismal re Tiffany!
Last week it was Bets who tried to help Tiffany. This week, Daddy is thinking again about being a more concerned parent. Is there something in the air?
So Tom returns home, settles into the Manse, creates a wholesome, learning parental environment. Tiff, and even Bets, evolve into mature, effective women.
Tiff – it is not your fault. Bets pushed you into it. She pushed buttons on you. What you need to learn is to say no. But there’s a bit of your fault…you were intrigued that Bets was making so much money. Perhaps if you tell this to your dad, he will realize you need money, and cutting you off was the result of you doing this. He might give you the cards back. THEN Bets will be jealous – you don’t need to work for money until you graduate from college.
Sounds like Tom may finally get it. I think Tiffany’s response is totally valid and authentic. And Bets’ story still has t been revealed, as in why she didn’t want to go home for the summer, and why she works so hard to gain recognition.
Tiffany, his intention was good, as far as the father is overusing the phrase maybe, now I hope that the father does something positive so that this has a good ending!
Oh please. Tiffany is what, 19/20? Doing a business studies degree? And it never occurred to her that there might be legal, financial etc consequences to her actions here? And she says not her thinking it through is actually her father’s fault for not being there to tell her? Does she expect a grown up to hold her hand every time she crosses the road, to remind her to brush her teeth, to eat up her greens because she can’t possibly do anything without being told of the consequences of not doing it correctly? Cheeze, youth!
A bigger question is: Will Tiffany be able to handle a formally absent parent now Newly returned and controlling every aspect of her life including dictating “who” she cane see and how late she can stay out?
And will Tom invite Bets to live with them?
(Sniff, Sniff) You know? That Maui trip may happen yet.
May be still possible to saved Tom. Seeing his daughter cry seems to make him feel sad and guilty. Tiffany finally has the courage to tell him how she feels alone and abandoned by him. Although this seems to be something that takes enormous effort to her to say. Maybe they will really do that vacation together?
Right now, Ann Eiffel is seeing all this online and is calling the cops and local Chamber of Commerce.. or maybe Tara’s cousin Stella is seeing it and planning a heist…
You know she could have turned out like a lot of these rich kids who only spend money, party and pay people to take their exams, have parents bail them out of trouble etc. Tiffany is at least trying.
Poor Tiffany. Underneath that vanity, that boasting, that snobbiness, that egotism, she’s just a scared and lonely little girl with a father that always ignores her and no mother who makes it go away. Tiffany doesn’t need fame or recognition, she just needs a kind word and someone to unconditionally love her.
And anyway, Bets is the idiot who put pictures on the internet…because, as usual, all she can think of is herself and collecting more so-called “fans.”
Hey, Tom? All that money, all the wheeling and dealing, when you’re gone from this planet they won’t mean JACK. That young lady is the only tangible thing you’re going to leave behind you, dude. And you’re blowing it.
It astounds me how many commentors here were completely perfect as youths, and never ever ever ever ever ever ever screwed up or needed help with anything. Why some of you must have been born certified in the womb ion whatever vaious professions you wound up practicing. HEAVY SARCASM NOT IMPLIED BUT CLEARLY STATED SINCE I AM FAR FROM PERFECT AND NEVER ACTED LIKE I WAS, (CAPS FOR EMPHASIS, NOT SHOUTING)
Using her college smarts? Just exactly what kind of “smarts” are required to advertise an illegal warehouse (in your house) and dump boxes and belongings randomly in the garage? Get real. Tiffany should take a step back and concentrate on what she does best – which is modeling, etiquette, event planning and fashion make-overs. If she had done her blog about makeup and fashion on a budget she might have already passed Bets on fan counts, but WAREHOUSING??
And Tiffany – HE IS TEACHING AND GUIDING YOU. He is paying for your college education, expecting you to learn the basics in the classroom and later apply them to real life. It is rude and spoiled of you to expect him to drop everything in his career (which – by the way pays the bills) and teach you how to calculate profit and loss. Maybe he has been using your grades to estimate your abilities as a business woman. Think about it, little boo-hoo girl.
Wow! That’s quite an admission from Tom. Wonder what he’ll do about it. Come home or send a surrogate. I’d be surprised if he tried to help her with the business.
Tiff biggest problem was Tom was letting Anne control Tiff purse strings Will Tom invite Bets to move in. If the Maui trip does happen he needs to lay down some ground rules for Tiff.
Calling all Bet’s Haters… everything wrong w/ this strip is all “Bet’s” fault! Yeah.. we all know what your underlying hatred is.. just be honest about it and stop beating around the bush.
Tiffany and Tom Ferrell may have come to what has come to be called an “inflection point.” a point where as I understand that term a major change might be happening. It could be like the war in Ukraine: from the West’s perspective for example, no one expected that in this Post-Modern Global world thst Vladdie F. Putin (lets see if this gets padt the censors, which I know as a private forum they have the right, so there-:) would attack an important and ethnically and histrically and economically important free and indendent country, as China is drooling over Taiwan, but…? Makes no sense to fight old and obselete ways of thinking or doing. In this case Tom has made choices successful in career and money, but woefully deficient to a daughter who is crying out LOUDLY for the help and love. Let see if there is a change for the good here. One more thought: Ann Effel went back to Japan at one point. I think her husnband, Les’s father may have been Japanese, or was a US serviceman, maybe a military policeman. Could she still be there going after the whale, Tom, still? If so his choice should be obvious.
On Saturday Tom will come home and he, Tiffany and Bets will sit by the pool sipping tea, listening to the faint jingling of chimes and singing Kumbaya.
Tiffany is all smiles in panel one and I’m sure she will be cheerful tomorrow. She is just manipulating her dad, like she always has. And Cats in the Cradle was a song about a young boy missing his father. Tiffany is a full grown adult. Big difference.
I don’t know — maybe Tiffany bursting out with that comment and showing some emotion in front of her father finally made more of a impact on him and got him to notice what he’s been doing ( or not doing) to his only child.
We can go a couple of ways here. Tom can get all smarmy and sarcastic, or he can begin to mentor Tiffany in the ways of business. He’s come through and stood up for her before, so I’m hoping for the second option.
Tomorrow the clean up crew arrives, several men to organize all the warehouse junk and move it into a temporary storage facility. Accompanying them is a very stern woman who has been hired by Tom to manage the mansion and ride herd on Miss Boo Hoo.
