Finally, we get names! “Thorin” is very Norse (meaning “thunder” or “brave one”), similar to the god, Thor. The best-known “Thorin” character is a character in The Hobbit trilogy.

“Liska” also has a West Germanic feel to it. In Old High German, it meant “sedge” or “reed,” but I think it’s just a name here without special meaning.

Is this the same guy who caused Tracy all the strife years ago ?  I thought Dick was going to ask about contacting So-Ray and was pleasantly surprised that now these Moonies have a handle.

I wonder if the rat tattoo on Betty Moonrubble’s back is a warning sign to Tracy?

Honeymoon is a teenager and Dick Tracy never knew his in-laws names ?

Tolkien took the name Thorin from a list of dwarf names in the Norse Elder Eddas (as well as the other dwarf names and Gandalf). The mighty Google tells me that “Liska” is Czech for “fox.”

It only took DECADES to get on a first name basis? Will they call him “Richard”?

Just pondering HOW exactly would knowing their first names help his investigation?

I must say I like Shelley’s art on Dick Tracy…he doesn’t look stiff!

It was in response to your comment which I took as a 2 day comparison.

In light of how I interpreted your comment my opinion is correct.

It doesn’t really matter since we’re dealing with opinions.

I don’t have insight into Shelley’s thoughts as she’s illustrating the strip so I could be wrong, I acknowledge that. However Tracy’s breath should have been visible yesterday despite attempts to prove otherwise.

What’s disturbing is the apparent Mission Impossible you and Neil are engaged in to “Prove Me Wrong”.

Names!! :D Also I really like Tracys’ expression in panel 2, it’s so very earnest – he’s not just detective-ing, he really wants to know! And so do we! But this is a comic strip so introductions have to be done “on screen”, somehow, no matter how awkward! Tracys’ expression helps a lot to make it feel more natural though. Yeah :D

What was Moon Maid’s real name?

I guess since Tracy and Ambassador last saw each other, a wedding took place in Moon Valley. They’re family yet Tracy never got an invitation. Not exactly what one can call a “close family”.

“I am Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror, King under the Mountain!” I thought that sounded familiar — one of the dwarf kings of Tolkien’s Middle Earth.

Holy mackerel, Tracy fans! Mike has heard our plea and given these Lunarians names!

Welcome, Ambassador Thorin (formerly Moon Governor Thorin)! Welcome Mrs. Ambassador, Liska (formerly, Moon Granny)!

Wow! Oh, what a relief it is! At last, both Tracy and we know.
