It’s not Jett’s job to receive threats against the museum? That doesn’t make much sense to me. I don’t think that receiving threats is a “job.”
Ms. Christopher is concerned for the officers’ state of health. I’m not sure if that makes her seem more guilty because she’s afraid she might have done them permanent harm or more innocent because she feels sorry for them.
As for Mr. Jett, he seems alarmed that the regular museum staff will be examining the exhibits closely. That can’t be a good sign in his favour.
I bet Mr Jaundice pardon Jett has something to do with the whole scheme. If so, this will be no surprise. It’ll only lack an arrow saying “the culprit”.
The museum paid for TWELVE police officers to be on site (not including relief shifts and detective agency oversight), and the coordinating officer presumably didn’t stuff ALL of them in one exhibition hall if he/ she wanted to keep their job. So this means the criminal accounted acquired a massive amount of illegal narcotics, reformulated it to be magically nonlethal despite the impossible-to-control level of dosing, rigged dispensers to simultaneously target every possible room where police and security could be (which factoring in patrols and bathroom breaks means basically the entire museum, and praying that nobody goes outside for a smoke or a phone call), and also they disabled all the other security from cameras to alarms and also also made a perfect replica of the Kondoolb Froyne of Layven and… well, that’s enough for now. Just some things to keep in mind going forward.
There’s still a lot that doesn’t make any sense. Last week Jett talked about the security arrangements, including cameras & motion sensors & monitors to detect any pressure on the idol. Did the police check to see if anything was recorded on the cameras? Did any of the alarms or sensors go off, or were they tampered with? Wouldn’t the guards have set off a sensor motion when they were gassed & fell down every which way? It should seem easy enough to find out. Maybe, as some have already suggested, Jett is a culprit behind some sort of theft, why would he stick around after the robbery, instead of taking off (or either of the other 2, if they were behind something). Surely whoever did it (whatever it was they did) would have known gassing 12 police officers would set off a massive investigation. A good mystery has us wondering who done it. This “mystery” has us wondering what is the mystery in the first place.
To the best of my limited knowledge criminals don’t usually send threats: “Hey, Bub, I’m comin’ into yer pizza joint at 9:13 tonight with a gun. Please have da cash in a paper bag for me when I arrive.”
But is Mr. Raw Water so stupid he thinks that crooks should be sending the threats to the police?
Wait! It’s Tracey’s job to make threats against the museum? I’m confused. And if they aren’t prepared to help in the investigation, why did the curators volunteer go to to the police station? Also, without his hat, Dick Tracey looks like Brick Bradford.
Mr. Jett might as well just confess now. “Okay, I did it, for reasons. Can we get to the gun battle now? I’ve got some rooftops I’d love to clamber over.”
the hang-dog looking curator is a snobby little snot, isn’t he?… he’s gonna try to be a difficult chit for Dick, but it’s nothing that Dick can’t handle…
Tomorrow Dick will innocently ask the 3 which one can hold their breath the longest and the one who proudly claims that title will be the thief! Because he/she held their breath while the gas knocked out the guards. Really – it’s all so very obvious if you think about it.
Or, Sam could rip a raunchy one and the one who doesn’t pass out is the criminal.
Basil Jett has been my candidate for prime suspect for a few days now, and that final (panel 3) “What?” strengthens my suspicion! That does not mean the case against him is clinched (“What?” could be a deliberate misdirection), but Wren Christopher has no strong pointers of guilt, and Anita Bath remains little more than a background silhouette.
Twelve coppers recovering is a good note to end on, too….

I am wonder if there is more than one culprit. Maybe two joined up to pull off a switch with fakes, while the guards were “sleeping”?

Looks like Mr Jett is insulted that regular staff is doing his job or may discover his actual job of switching artifacts to steal them !!!

Suspicious behavior:
.
Tracy: I need information you have.
Mr. Jett: It’s your job to get the information I have, not my job to give it to you.
.
Tracy: 12 officers are in the hospital as a result of the attack.
Ms. Christopher: I hope what we did didn’t cause them any lasting harm.
.
Tracy: I have information on the attack and need information from you all.
Ms. Bath: I’ll stay quiet and let the other two look suspicious to take the heat off of me.

I believe that drugging the guards was ment to distract attention from the real theft, which happened before the items were put on display

If a stranger walks in and sees Jett, they’ll notify the coroner.I haven’t seen “walking death” that bad since Pruneface.
