We seem to be heading toward one of those episodes that move very slowly to a neutral ending.
I would be mildly surprised if Tiff didn’t arrange for a housemate to provide security. What large human coworker could provide that do you suppose? No, Les, only has a big ego! 8^ )
Tiff you wrong your dad will find out one way or the other so just tell him. He will still trust you and might put in one of those cool laser beam security systems.
I suppose Les will be on board with Tiff’s idea of not telling her dad what’s up, and perhaps start cooking up some TJ-esque scheme to “secure” the mansion. Will Gunther be the voice of reason? Or will he also get carried away with the “We can’t tell the adults” theme that comes up so often in juvenile adventure literature?
Lies keep us weak. Tell him the truth, well maybe not the whole truth, you’re a young single woman, all alone (that’ll hit Dad’s guilt button) and you’d just feel safer with added security.
And the story falls off its wheels, runs into the ditch, crashes and burns and other cliches for epic facepalming fails. You can not build trust on a foundation of a big, fat lie. Especially one that will inevitably be found out.
Plus there is no evidence of a burglar, just Les spouting off. Tiffany has not inspected the house for look for anything missing. As I recall that was a big pane of glass. Replacing it will be expensive Probably more than she makes waitressing at a usually empty Fuse. Does her daddy give her free use of his money? And where does she get the idea that the house is on some easy-[ickings crime blog?
God, there is so much stupidity coming out of her mouth,
Gunther never gets it. He thinks you always have to disclose everything you know as you see it – kind of an autistic syndrome. Tiffany has her point – but not well worded.
As far as we know, nothing was stolen. The small broken hole in the window didn’t look like somebody intended to get inside. Vandalism – maybe even Ann Eiffel – appears more likely. Nevertheless I don’t blame Tiffany for not wanting to stay there alone. I think we need next week to see how all this will shake out – kinda interesting.
When will Tiffany learn that keeping the truth from her Dad is a form of lying? Especially when he will probably receive the ambulance bill, the hospital bill, and the police report of the incident?
Unfortunately, this is the normal reaction. Tiffany don’t want her father to think she’s an idiot and say nothing is so easy to do. Tiffany is more and more scared and insicure, good thing she has Ox, Gunther and Les to help her.
Just fix the damage without insurance (especially since the deductible is greater than cost to repair), tighten security, and move on. Dad should be pleased.
Tiff, just tell Daddy you are scared and think you hear and see things outside and how you would feel safer with an upgraded security system. I’m sure he’ll come through. That said, if you TELL him about this, he’ll do it for sure. You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s human error to forget to turn on an alarm.
Tiffany, the police were involved. They probably already contacted Tom about it. Certainly the hospital called him, since I doubt you have your own health insurance. And there is no way you’ll be able to get that window fixed out of your own pocket.
Panel 3: She is not that dumb. She is merely desperate. After all the crap she went through while Ann Eiffel had her claws into Tom, then, finally getting rid of Ann, she’s been trying to prove her mettle and business savvy to her father. Tom will eventually find out about this incident one way or another, so ultimately, she better tell him.
This is all Daddy Warbucks’ fault for NOT teaching Tiff the responsibilities of running a starter-up business—something he himself acknowledged last summer.
But he still puts his business ahead of his daughter, and who knows—he just might be dating another Ann Eiffel!!
If Tiffany needs a strong man to stay with her in the McMansion without trying to make love to her (meaning someone other than Ox or Leslie) there’s always Jack. Sure she hasn’t met him in the strip but there’s no reason why she hasn’t been a long-time friend off panel. Jack is strong, brave, has no interest in sex (seemingly) and would talk her ear off about physical fitness, self-defense and positive thinking. They would be the delightful Odd Couple this strip needs
I like how Gunth and Les are sitting as direct opposites, one urging her to use cool lasers and the other urging her to tell the truth. She could always install lasers and tell the truth!
But seriously, I like how they’re mature friends helping her hash this out. My bet is still on Ox having a more romantic role in Tiff’s life. He’s really such a good guy.
Police report goes to insurance company, company contacts owner, owner berates child for not informing parent. Busted(Gunter) Contact Google to pixilate street view of house from street. Needed for women’s shelters, etc.
Not telling Tom of the possible break in, and, how, in your panic you fell down the stairs, necessitating the cops, and, paramedics come to the Manse, and, you going to the ER, sure is a way to build trust with him, TIf. Besides, doesn’t Tom monitor things at the Manse at least passively? Isn’t that how he found about the whole WareManse thing?
I think she should tell him, not hide it. Hiding it is clearly not the way to inspire trust, and given her summer record, that’s going to be a bit difficult. However, given possible misdirection and hilarity ensuing it’s wise to wait predicting what might happen.
Tiffany just won the selfish idiot award. Just like always, the ACTUAL OWNER of the property gets no say in what’s being done to it. And who can trust a person that would lie and hide all of these events? And for all of you who will say she never lied – she will be lying when she tells him everything is just fine.
When Ox broke in and the door had a standard deadbolt he either would have broken the door (where the lock is located) or the door frame where the deadbolt enters. If it is the door you cannot repair it with putty or nailing a thin wood panel over the crack you would have to replace it. If Ox busted out the frame you would need a skilled finish carpenter to replace the frame. You have to request a police report and pay for it, they are not sent out automatically. Besides as far as the police are concerned just an accident and a broken window.Wouldn’t any mail to daddy come to the mansion, I doubt they are forwarding his mail to Botswana or where ever he has been living for the past 3+ months.
95% of alarms set of by security systems are false alarms and many police departments regard them as low priority. However they may be more responsive in Tiffany’s neighborhood.
It’s good to see Tiffany surrounded by guys again. She’s been frustrated by her uncaring quad-mates for too long. For now, she has her three closest men to interact with… Daddy Bigbucks would make it complete!
Uh oh. That’s not a good decision.Dad needs to know to also verify nothing of his is missing. Tiff should insist Bets remove all her posts about her & the mansion for security safety reasons. If Bets refuses she should be accountable/liable.
Ah-Ha! And now we know the REAL reason her Father wasn’t let in on this!!! But I think he might trust MORE if you just broke down and told him the truth!
There must be some people coming in on some days, even if not live-in. Taking care of the grounds, cleaning, etc. If one of them sees the window, then her Dad will be notified…if he hasn’t been already.
I have a theory based on “So Help Me Todd”. Todd is a detective on CBS who won’t follow rules. He broke a window, reached in the small hole, and unlocked it. But he was on the first floor so things got too complicated for our burglar.
Trust isn’t the issue here. He would be proud of you trying to solve it by yourself but he has a right to know what’s happening and to offer his suggestions and help…..

Maybe, just MAYBE Tiff should tell her pop.
Sure, he might be mad. But on the other hand, he might be compelled to stay home more often to look after his one and only daughter.
And then there’s this:

https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2022/08/03
When Tiff cried about “not being smart,” Poppa Farrell stated maybe he’s the one who’s not “smart.”
Here’s an opportunity for him to do better for Tiffany, especially coming after the “Ann Eiffel” fiasco.
Either that, or Pop is going to have to hire a bodyguard for Tiffany.
And have Claymore mines planted in the front yard………,

I hope that’s the concussion talking.. because keeping something, that involved the Police, from your father, is a BAD idea!
