That could actually happen when and if Calvin makes it to high school.

Good thing Calvin doesn’t live in Alaska.

He’s going to be an early riser when he gets a 9 to 5 job, if anyone hires him, that is!!!

When I was young, where we lived sometimes it didn’t get dark until 9 pm or later

Early to bed and early to rise will make you Hale and healthy, fella. All parents try that for the kids but rarely succeed.

Then you’ll see Dad going to work, Calvin.

Give it a rest, Calvin. (Hahaha!)

Just be glad you get your sleep time now. It’s more difficult as you get older. When you end up working 2 or 3 jobs just to get by (like I do), sleep is impossible.

0430 here and the reason I am awake and enjoying all the comments. That’s because sleep eludes, irritating and self-defeating. But reading all the comments gets laughs and relaxation. Thanks to all.

Calvin should try living in Iceland. It doesn’t get dark at all for over two months each year.

Wait until those days past middle age when waking up in the middle of the night and not getting back to sleep happens.

Actually, you DO get up when it’s still dark. It’s called school morning!

Kinda defeats the whole purpose of sleeping in, Calvin.

Robert Louis Stevenson wrote a poem about that.

I used to be able to stay up all night. Working swing shift and graveyard shifts helped. Nowadays, I just want to be able sleep all night.

But… Will you? ☺

I had this problem when I was a kid and we visited Grandma in Saskatoon… sun didn’t go down until after 10pm …it was fully light at my bedtime.

Crawl in their bed and use up all the blanket.

He might as well do something useful, like learn how to make coffee

Good idea, Calvin! Of course, kids need more sleep than adults. And it’s not like it’s still fully light out.

My sister mentioned the chap of getting her son’s to bed early especially in the summer. Though they are all older than Calvin is meant to be.

Try doing that north of 60N.

When I was his age, I was an early riser before dawn. Saturday nights I would stay up till dawn.

This reminds me of my childhood… when it stayed light outside until at least 8:30 p.m., all of our friends were still outside, playing, but we had to go to bed by about that time, and being able to see daylight above the shades did not inspire warm, fuzzy feelings.

I remember being made to go to bed in the summer while it was still light out. I remember being very frustrated by this because I wasn’t tired! I also remember suddenly waking up and realizing it was morning :D

Calvin would only do this during the summer. He would never get up early for school.
