Hoping it would help with his chances with the ladies, Antoine showed up with a violin — but he forgot something.

/// This French gentleman daintily plucks

at his instrument’s strings, and that mucks

    up the violin’s tone,

(it will plink but not moan).

Without long sustained sound his song sucks.

Yes, I know my instrument is small, but if I play it, it will get bigger.

Tiny Thomas playing “Tip-Toe Through the Daffodils” was an inspiration for Tiny Tim.

He’s “il maestro”: he never sweats/

No matter how hot it gets./

    Though Sicilian Summer/

    Is hard on a strummer/

Still his fingers fly over the frets.///

    No composer upsets his composure./

    Can he outpace a piccolo ? Sure!/

    He plays Frescobaldi/

Just as well as Vivaldi -/

He brings any concerto to closure..///

He can play either fast or slow/

    Play Baroque or ornate Rococo/

    But he’s always in hock:/

    For the folks prefer Rock/

So he can’t seem to make any dough.

While it wasn’t really bad on a violin, his performance of “Aloha ’Oe” was much more popular using his ukulele.

Just to be contrary, I’ll now attempt something scary, Sweet Little 16, and then Maybelline, I’ll just groove on a little Chuck Berry. Alas, it was not to be, for the act just before me, set the piano aflame, making my gig seem tame. Curse you, you ham, Jerry Lee!

Portrait of a gentleman with a violin

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Guillaume Voiriot" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found and once there find the text string Violine, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (Ctrl- or right-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #3185 (September 11, 2023) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment, and using the dropdown menu (even larger, if you trim what’s after .png from the URL). I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. Only work by him used here so far.

I met a guy who played Hendrix songs on an electric violin once. He said I gave him the nicest compliment he’s ever heard when I told him I could’ve sworn it was a guitar until I walked into the bar I heard him at.
