You should try to set up an interview with the worker on his/her break. But they won’t be able to be honest while they’re sitting there lest their boss overhear. Maybe you can invite them over for dinner so they can give Hammie all the information he needs about the job.
Yea, working fast food isn’t all that easy of a job. Biggest problem now is all the irate (violent) customers that expect a perfect gourmet meal. Come-on,. it’s Fast Food. Also wasn’t meant to be a living wage job unless you were a manager or asst’ manger looking at a career in food management/hospitality.
“In fact, bring back two super burgers, three Jr. burger kids meals, two large fries, two large colas, milk for the kids and make sure that they put the same toy in the kids meal boxes, that way there will be no fighting over the toy. Now get out of here, I’m hungry.”
“Burger Pro”, that would be McDs, just the best fries around. Unfortunately you need to eat them right away, they don’t do well after very little time.
Oh, Darryl, you’re being silly. It will be years before they’ll even accept a job application from him, and IF he’s still interested in working there by then, he’ll only be in his teens. A high school kid could do worse than work in a place like that. By the time he’s graduated he will either have had his fill of it and be glad to leave it behind, or will decide it does suit him longer term and keep at it.
And you know what? The latter wouldn’t be the end of the world. It’s good, honest labor.
I did that as my first real job but we didn’t have a drive thru back then. As a first real job it was good experience and was most definitely a job that gave me the incentive to improve my career goals…..

Just let that be his first after school job. It won’t take long for reality to set in.

How did Hammie get this notion if he hasn’t been through a fast-food drive-thru window before? I suspect it’s been more than once.

I read the other day where some kid working a drive through window was shot and killed because the customer didn’t get as much catsup as he wanted.

He’s a kid. This is normal. He’ll get over it.

I mean, I’ve always been of the opinion that everyone should work food service at least once!

A lot of people enter the job market at fast food restaurants, but most probably move on to better paying jobs.

Wanda has her priorities straight, knowing that Hammie’s interest will change but fries won’t wait.

Ain’t going to work. Hammie is going to want to do it even more. Oh, and I’ll take an order of fries and a vanilla milk shake.
