There are several comics I don’t care for, whether for the political views or because I just don’t find them entertaining. So I don’t read them. Easy – peasy!
This system mechanically exposed light to a complexly layered media of crystals that required multiple steps of organic chemistry and optics to produce a photographic image.
I am a conservative. My personal lifestyle could be summed up by the song “Okie from Muskogee.” However, I do not believe that I have the right to force everyone else into complying with my personal values. It does not threaten me that not everyone else lives and acts like I do.
You don’t need to read playbody to know its not acceptable for first graders. If you don’t get that, you certainly dont’t need to be part of the “government education system”.
I used to love reading the comic section of the paper and pointing out the ones I liked to my family. Now that we read the comics online, we can read as many as we want, and we share comments with folks we’ve never seen.
(sigh) not only read the book, but shows extensive examples of why it is not fit for children, tries to read it out loud in public meetings but is told it’s too awful to read to a meeting of adults. OH wait, yeah, it’s empty because you can’t find anyone who advocates totally banning a book.
It is a shame that most universities have booted great works of literature such as Huckleberry Finn. To Kill A Mockingbird, etc. Shame on those censors.
I am 81, used to sit in my Grandpa’s lap while he read the comics to us. Still read them every day thanks to Go.Not a commercial, just a simple thank you.
That last one would be something. I suppose a couple of these things are interesting in comparison to other things we see anymore. When what was once mundane becomes extraordinary.
I used to get the daily paper, when I quit working I switched to just the weekend (Fri, Sat & Sun). Then the Fri and Sat got to the point it was all sports so I went with just Sunday and you still got one on holidays. About a year ago they quit having a Monday paper. Six months ago they decided to combine Sat and Sun into the weekend paper. The news got less very little local since all the papers are now owned by the same media corp. Very seldom is there any coupons, even the classifieds are less. After my subscription is up I will cancel as it is no longer worth it. I now pay more for the weekend paper than you could for 7 days a year ago.
School boards and Library boards should require that anyone wanting to ban a book prove that they live in the area, have a library card, and/or have children in the school. They should also require that the person prove they have read the entire book by taking a test on it [similar to tests a teacher might give] and writing an essay on one of the book’s themes [similar to those assigned by a teacher].
The biggest Carnival Sideshow in the USA is the House of Congress and the House of Representatives. We in Canada have the House of Commons and dumping grounds of political favours The Senate.
My parents got two of the large, thick papers delivered on Sundays: the Boston Globe and the Record/American I think it was. Two sports sections and two sets of comics!
Elephant in the room; those who ban books most likely haven’t read them. At least the current crop, who just go off lists from other Moms against Liberty.
Wiley, don’t you understand that to be a member of Moms for Liberty, you don’t have to read the WHOLE book? You just find a “dirty” word somewhere in the hundreds of pages, and off to the school board meeting you go to complain.
I believe there is a difference between banning a book and removing a book from a school library. That is really what people are talking about at the end of the day. Liberals want to put gay porn in school libraries and remove such books as “To Kill a Mocking Bird” or any of Dr. Suess because of racism or whatever. It if funny how liberals would object to Playboy being in a school library but are okay with books like “All Boys aren’t blue” or “The infinite Moment of Us” being in schools.
I WISH I could file my tax return in January! Unfortunately, I don’t get all the necessary documents to do so until at least mid-February; sometimes not even until mid-March. And lately, it’s not been unusual for tax law to change after January and still affect the current filing season, so filing in January isn’t actually that good of an idea anymore.
Corporations are in for the final blood draw from the nation’s newspapers. Like here in San Diego where I just canceled the Sunday-only edition and also digital. I havethe NY Times digital. The San Diego Union was sold to a corporation that has purchased many failing newspapers. They fired more than half the writers, closed the headquarters, and increased the subscription costs. A final milking before closure.
Maybe Daniel it’s because A. The OP said he used to take the paper so they responded accordingly or B. They know the meaning of the word Ban even if Wiley doesn’t

Still an avid reader of comics. And fiction. And non fiction. If the printed word offends you then just don’t read it.

I remember when, if you wanted to make a copy, you used carbon paper.
If you wanted lots of copies, you typed on mimeograph paper and then used a hand-cranked mimeograph machine.

As regards 21st century tyrants, just burn them personally.
