I’m surprised Tara is just letting Piro walk away, with her purse over his shoulder like that. LOL

Why is Bernice at home? Luann’s at class, doesn’t Bernice have classes, too?

Bernice looks especially well-drawn today.

Here’s a fun—and “modern”—arc possibilty: Bernice finds out she’s pregnant and she calls the father, Piro, to let him know. Nah, too modern.

Piro is seeking a sane and sensible person rather than the fun and good time girls with silly ideas.

Ladies for the last time, Piro wants to be left alone, as he walks away with Tara purse, lol. TBC Monday.

Piro is more than meets the eye, and good for Bernice.

Piro has a backpack. He came into the classroom with it, but where is Tara’s purse? It looks like he picked it up, but it has now disappeared.

I find it kind of astounding that Piro has such faith in Bernice, the so-called Muse-slash-Beacon-Of-Light. She’s so bad at encouraging her best friend and does the literal bare minimum with Piro (she avoided answering his letter till he placated her ego).

Piro re establishes communication with Bernice. Bernice. The first female he truly connected with with in the strip! Back in https://www.gocomics.Com/luann/2017/04/24 Piro falsely confess to breaking into a vending machine. He did it to keep from revealing that he was actually crashing in Bernice’s room; an admission that would cause her to loose her RA job and room. He certainly made no attempt to cover for his crashing in Tiff’s room too.

Earlier, https://www.gocomics.Com/luann/2017/03/18 Piro admits a certain trust in Bern. He’s about to reveal more when he’s interrupted by a Dr. Heald appointment. Rampant speculation at the time was the good doc was a therapist.

I think we will see their relationship re establish on a cerebral level. Certainly not as with Nil. And most certainly not as Tara’s thrill ride nor as Luann’s humor approach!

I repeat myself. I think we have a winner here – at least for awhile.

That top is the most form-fitting thing Bernice I’ve ever seen Bernice wear.

The one who truly makes him happy.

How will she screw it up? (Or have they reconnected off-panel? Wouldn’t put past the Evanses.)

Well this is interesting. A hull passel o’ Bernice Hater heads are going to explode if she turns out to be the one positive influence in his life.

G &K could surprise us if Piro responds to Bernice.

Piro is odd-looking and sullen and shows little interest in other people. It’s hard to understand why these three different young women want to pick up the burden of dealing with someone who probably has a significant mental illness — with the possible exception of Tara, since they’re related. What is it — curiosity, something to break up the monotony, a group project to discuss?

Okay… that was not what I was expecting.

Sounds like Piro and Bernice have a little something going on. Either that, or he’s going over for some free therapy.

It’s not that he wants to be alone, he just doesn’t want to be with you lol!

Piro has many problems, but the weirdest is his belief that Bernice is able of help him. Dunno if it’s love or trust, but it will make him suffer, because it’s unlikely that Bernice will be able to do that and very likely she will make everything worse. Luann and Tara may be nosy, but they are a bit right in not wanting to leave him alone seeing how down he’s. In their naivety, they want the best for him and if Piro will end up with Luann, she could be a very positive influence on him. With Bernice… well, at least she seems genuinely happy that he called her. But how long will that last?

Piro called Bernice to be with someone? Judgmental outwardly, insecure inwardly, Bernice?

This makes me wonder…I commuted to my four-year undergraduate college, but I wasn’t at home much during the day. So how close is the deGroot house to the university and the community college? Do all of the college characters have cars?

Oh, no. The Bernice factor.

Piro is more damaged than I thought, if he turns to Bernice for any help. I guess he is drawn to someone equally messed up.

This arc just Piro-uetted!

This story arc feels so dumb. Tara seems to want to do him, Luann wants to try and be his friend, and Bernice seems to want to fix him. I think Luann is the only one who genuinely wants to help and be supportive. Even if she is like oooh he’s mysterious and hot which is attractive to her, I think she unconsciously recognizes that he just needs someone to talk to who has no end game. Bernice is like omg I can save him…which will turn into a wreck. And Tara, either the Evans want to have this weird cousin attraction storyline, or Tara means well. I’d like to believe it’s the latter, not the former but all the dialogue has pointed to the former not the latter. I think in a way like Luann, Tara’s heart is in the right place but the Evan’s have given her this weird “I think I want my cousin” endgame vibe.

This is terrific! Generally I am no big fan of Bernice however Piro is and that’s what matters

so…he’s skipping class?

I would be interested in seeing a week of Bernice psycho-analyzing Piro. He could come out of that experience not just depressed, but totally insane LOL!

I like this. Piro has been somewhat comfortable with Bernice. I hope she doesn’t do what Tara and Luann did, offer suggestions without listening. ;-)

Does this strip have a worse character than Piro? He seems to contribute as little to society as he does to the progression of any intelligent action in the strip. He’s a lame, moody, bum. I’d rather see more Puddles than Piro. Ugh.

Needs me a little Ber time

I can’t even!… I can hear them saying it still.. “She’s nice to me”! UGH By the time he sees the truth it’s too late.

I know everyone who reads this comic and comments on it hates Bernice with a berning passion, but I think she looks absolutely adorable all happy and excited in the last panel (the outfit looks cute on her too).

I’m finally seeing this panel: AHA! MISDIRECTION PLAY! I don’t thinkt too many of us came up with this scenario, but the toon has been plsying around with the theme of Bern’s fascination with Piro. Surprise! She might be actually talking to him successfully! He is not drawn to smile much, but shows a half-smile, before, and this important, HE called her and she’s happy too. All the Bern haters out there, so busy hating on her, missing the actual story, as usual.

Who called who?

On second thought it’s not clear who called whom first, Bern, or Piro, so I need to correct that assertion. The interest by each, and in Piro’s case who, is the oint.

Score!!!

I think Tara and Luann are starting to feel like overload to Piro, who may have heard their conversation (about him). They mean well but are definitely coming on too strong. Piro isn’t looking for “help” per se, just friendship w/o interrogation; it remains to be seen if Bern will be that person. She was in the past because she was infatuated. But will she be that way now? We will see.

I called it! He IS seeking out Bernice. I hope she will be kind to him.

Yikes! Bernice? She’s no more help than Tara or Luann.

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with limited competence in a particular domain overestimate their abilities. Does this sound like Bernice? She’s a legend in her own mind! ;-p
