There’s nothing better than Calvinball…..

I know he invented Calvinball specifically because he hated organized sports, but is it really any better?

I remember seeing long ago “25 Fun Things to do at Walmart”. My favorite was “One word: Calvinball”

If this were an olympic sport, I would watch the olympics.

You see, Mom and Dad? Your only child is hopelessly off-balance because he has no HUMAN playmates to interact with!

Pretty tough to get out of the boomerang zone. If you try to leave, you’ll just return.

Hobbes is enjoying this way too much :)

A bit like when my little brother and I played Monopoly. I used to rob the bank, and break out of jail afterwards. :D

Oogy to boogy is exactly what tennis scoring sounds like to me.

The funny thing is that Calvin is doing these things to himself

As bittersweet as it was, I adored Rosalyn’s ultimate realization of how Calvinball is played.

I think men should create new team sports that lead to less hooliganism.

Origin of the immortal line “the score is oogy to boogy.” Of course anything containing the word “oogy” is funny; more so if the other word rhymes with it.

The only permanent rule in Calvinball is that there are no rules.

Not so strangely, it resembles what we may be in for til’ Nov 5th.

I think the only “rule” of Calvinball is: “The quickest to make up the rules wins!”

Ah Calvinball, almost as much fun as double/triple Cranko on M*A*S*H!

I think Calvin vs Caulfield (from the Frazz comic strip) in a game of Calvinball would be epic! I think Calvin would win because he is not as bridled down with education as Caulfield is.

Fun, fresh air, sunshine, exercise, all in all, a great day as a kid.

All great cartoonists have incredible imaginations but Watterson was in his own universe with Calvin and Hobbes!

Clearly Hobbes is better at this than Calvin. Maybe it should be renamed Hobbesball?

It seems to me that a game of Calvinball could consist of Calvin and Hobbes standing together, making up rules and then countering them with something else, all afternoon.
