Tomorrow is garbage day and Janis let Arlo go to bed without the garbage where it’s needed to be for pick up? Would not happen with SWMBO.

This could easily be my wife and me…

or make a happy wife.

… but Roman hands and Russian fingers are the spice of life.

My busy hands have gotten me into trouble, and I have the restraining orders to prove it. ;-)

Yet, Janis’ hands remain idle, while she orders Arlo around.

Wife never has to remind me, Mondays and Thursdays I put it out at 7 am including the cat litter.

At my age and energy level, it’s more like “the Devil’s rest home.”

Apparently, Janis has no concern whatsoever to unburden her tasks upon Arlo just before she goes to bed so she can relax at night. In this way, if things didn’t get done, she can have the “get out of jail free” card of saying “I told you last night” and absolve herself of any responsibility. If anyone does this to me as I’m falling asleep, or especially if I had been asleep and was woken up, spoken to and then fall back asleep, I am incapable of remembering anything of the conversation the next morning. Janis, if it’s that important to you, then keep a notepad by the table and jot your ideas down for the next day.

I put a weekly reminder in my phone for the trash and recycling days. When you’re retired, sometimes it’s hard to remember what day it is.

Our prior house, the collection was early; same thing here. If I don’t put the bins out the night before, I’ll likely miss them. Except for the small bin for glass, that is always picked up in the afternoon.

Arlo’s routine and mine are similar, only we aren’t feeding the birds.

Hit the snooze Arlo.

Arlo should have been sweet talking to Janis for other results……….!

I wonder if Janis is thinking of the schedule back home, or where they are now.

Typical of “what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine too”.

I’m retired and most days are alike. I’ve set a one day alarm on my phone to remind me to take out the trash every Tuesday night.

Janis can do all those jobs in the morning. I would never tell my husband what needs to be done the next day after he has gone to bed. It would only disturb his sleep and he would forget anyway.

I would roll over and go for it. “So you will be too tired to help?”

Not a really fun vacation…..

I use the GTD method with Things software that provides me repeating reminders, so I never lose track of or forget things like that. I haven’t missed a garbage (or recycle) day yet. But if we ever get into “potted plants on the patio” or “birds to feed” – those are going to be HER job. I do a lot of things, but I. DON’T. DO. GREENERY.

I kind of have to wonder what Janis will be doing, all day.

Should have ended with Arlo goosing Janis to demonstrate that his hands are not idle.

How does she know Arlo is not already asleep?

If taking the trash out to the curb is Arlo’s job, he knows about it. There is no need to remind him.
