Luann’s not loud, and Bernice can be terribly yappy. They’re friends because they’ve been friends for a long time…they know each other’s history and shared some of it. It’s the kind of friendship we grow away from as we mature and move on in life.
A six year old philosophy preacher, artist, writer, and pain in the butt. Totally absurd. Time to head over and join Tiffany and Stef in a nice, hot shower.
Shannon would make a good counselor. She gave Bernice and Luann a perspective on how they can be better friends by accepting who they are without belittling each other. Shannon heard plenty when they talk. Grown ups tend to forget that hence the old saying the child shall be seen but not heard. Well, by forgetting they’re there, they say too much, much of them shouldn’t be heard by the child.
I love the smile Luann and Bernice exchange. They understand that Shannon’s story is also about the two of them and they’re enjoying it. Maybe Shannon found a nice ending, maybe Luann and Bernice will explain to her how two completely opposite people can be friends. On the one hand, I’m happy that they’re talking about it. On the other, I fear this mean that the two will remain friends even if Bernice continues to be the empathyless disaster that she is.
Now Shannon is being made out to be a psychologist. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a child mature so quickly! When she’s done with her preaching, let me know.
They couldn’t, because fish is judgmental and constantly makes snide comments about dog’s personality, choices, etc. (Clearly Bernice is the fish in this story).
The problem with Luann’s and Bernice’s “friendship” is not different characters – that could help both of them a lot! It’s how Bernice feels superior to and constantly puts Luann down, when she already has trouble taking her own self seriously (since nobody else does).
We are very forgiving for public figures here. A certain DHT for some, BC to others. Going back to Luannverse I love this arc! Shannon shows real imagination here and is drawn to write and draw a funny story that just describes them and relationship to a T. And it’s funny too!

They couldn’t. THE END.
J/K :)
I’m thinking they’ll come to some sort of arrangement
.
On a side note, I see Bad Boys Ride Or Die comes out on Friday.
After what Will Smith did at the Oscars.. just who is going to see this??

This seems to be the lightbulb moment that both Luann and Bernice were in need of.

And just like THAT, little Shannon created a parable about the puzzling “friendship” between Luann and Bernice.
Yeah, kid.
Many of US have been wondering how the heck those two can be “friends” too. ;-)

Notice how Bernice and Luann are eyeing each other. And their pets reflect their personalities. Shannon is VERY perceptive for a 6-year old!

A little fourth wall delivered by Shannon. Luann seems to get it – not sure if Bern does.

The end. Luann face is priceless.

Yes, how are they friends? Luann, I hope the moral of this story teaches you that it’s time for Bernice to move out.

Simple — they got a room. Like Luann and Bernice need to.

Shannon is not writing about Bernice and Luann. She is not that complex or deep. She is simply writing about a dog and a fish.
