I think Earl is onto something this time.

Maybe her phone is turned off.

Maybe like me she put it down somewhere and cannot hear it ring!

Earl, this is a gotcha question on par with: “Does this outfit make me look fat?”

One of the ads I see on TV warns that if an elderly woman doesn’t answer the phone, she’s fallen and she can’t get up. In the ads aimed at older men, if an elderly man can’t get IT up, he is still able to use a phone to call an 800 number. Proof that age affects men and women quite differently.

What else?

I think she should drive to her house and check on her.

For once they’re both right. Sylvia is very, very sick…….of mom calling all the time. On a separate note, Sylvias’ Mother was a great song.

Don’t do that opal! I blocked my SIL after she did that three days in a row, keeping my dermatologist from reaching me about my skin cancer. She’d wake me up and disrespected my boundaries. Unfortunately blocked calls ring in, still waking you, even though they don’t let them through, it rings several times. The last time I told her I’d get a restraining order if she kept it up…it’s been 15 months, she’s nuts!

Earl still hasn’t learned to think of consequences before blurting out first thought that comes to mind. Yet, this would be very drab without all the interactions, especially Roscoe’s reactions.

Why would Sylvia answer the phone? She already knows that if the situation is urgent enough, Opal will just come over and kick the door in.

Always a possibility.

Text her. I understand that texts must responded to immediately…..at least in the young sector………………….aw, never mind.

At work, I used to complain that my phone was making an annoying ringing sound.

Ask the police to do a welfare check.

Or she could have been kidnapped by a gang of Salvadorian terrorist, taken to Gana and forced to work in a meth lab. (Could happen)

When you get older and have friends or relatives that live alone, this is a very real worry. My sister is 75, lives alone and has just a few friends. So when I don’t hear from her or talk to her every few days, I do start to worry.

My money’s on Earl as far as having the correct answer.

What Sylvia should do is just put her mom (Opal) on voice mail and that way Sylvia won’t have to answer when it’s not convenient.

Someday she’ll MISS getting those calls………..

She is sick. sick of you calling all the time.

this makes me think… I’m so glad I cell phones didn’t exist when I was a kid

My mother ruined my relationship with cousins (local to here as I live far away) by calling them constantly and leaving message after message after message…something she did to me as well and I had to finally block her. We all asked my mother to stop, but she just kept on keeping on. For some reason, my cousins thought I could control my mother’s actions, and now we are no longer on speaking terms after being quite close. Sad.

Sylvia is drinking with her biker buddies at a mountain bar- no cell reception, She’ll call you next week.

She tripped over a pile of unwashed laundry in the basement and fell head first into a spring-loaded bear trap.

She lives next door!!!!!!!!!

Pretty sure she isn’t ready to come pick up her kid yet.

Her phone is blowing up. Literally.

I called my caseworker 200 times 13 years ago for my dentist card they found it I would be happy if she answer my calls
