With a margin of error of about 0.01%(zero point zero one percent), I would guess, if given the same news RAT heard from GOAT, 99.9%(ninety-nine point nine percent) of AMERICA would react EXACTLY the same way RAT did in this comic strip for the new week/day!!!!! Dan aka….
Rat actually said something reasonable. If everybody voted according to “what policies would really benefit me”, things would probably be a lot different.
With no doubt, this is going to be an interesting election year. I don’t know who’s gonna win. but there’s an awful lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth from both sides against either choices of primary candidates. For me, this may be my LAST year participating in ANY election. I’m…just…totally done with it all. Frustrating is an understatement. (smh)
Rat is a narcissist, so he will only look at things which he feels will benefit him personally without delving into consequences for others and of course, future generations. Many 1%ers who serve in Congress probably are acceptable to Rat and he might even buy that idiotic “Trickle Down” economics theory which Milton Friedman peddled in 1980 and managed to get Teflon Ron Reagan and Maggie Iron Pants Thatcher to buy into……..
What if every voter who cast a ballot immediately had to draw out of a hat a ticket with the new place in society they would occupy once new policies they voted for in an election were implemented?
John Rawls Veil of Ignorance (search term, if interested)
The Veil of Ignorance is a thought experiment and philosophical concept introduced by John Rawls in his 1971 work “A Theory of Justice”. It serves as a powerful tool for evaluating the fairness and impartiality of societal structures and institutions.
Key Principles
Original Position: Rawls’ Veil of Ignorance is situated in the Original Position, where representatives of society’s members choose principles of justice for society, having limited knowledge and interests.
Veil of Ignorance: Parties in the Original Position are unaware of their own social status, talents, or personal circumstances, ensuring impartiality and fairness in their decisions.
Limited Information: Participants have only general knowledge of human nature, moral powers, and essential facts about society, without specific details about themselves or others.
Implications
Fairness and Equality: The Veil of Ignorance leads to the selection of principles that prioritize equal rights, social cooperation, and the well-being of all members of society, including the least advantaged.
Impartiality: By ignoring personal biases and interests, individuals behind the Veil of Ignorance make decisions that benefit society as a whole, rather than individual groups or individuals.
Justice as Fairness: Rawls’ theory of justice, based on the Veil of Ignorance, emphasizes the importance of fairness and equality in societal structures and institutions.
It’s perfectly fine for people to vote for their own private interest, that’s what democracy is for. If it benefit most people, it will be voted in, majority win.
The problem we have right now is a lot of voters are voting against their own interest, instead they vote for fearmongering. They will be happy to vote for a felon or someone who are willingly and openly try to damage our democracy.
The real problem is that most of the Republican Party votes against their interests because if “those people” get nice things too, that’s wrong so they’ll happily do without it too. We could be just like Europe in our policies with free college and universal healthcare, but racism stopped all the post-WW2 policies Europe did that they’ll fight like hell to keep. We’ve all been sold a lie since Reagan that if we just gave the 1% all of our money they’d take care of us. Yeah, how’s that going for you? They’re richer than anyone has ever been in the history of the world while buying or renting a home has gotten nearly impossible, and they’re paying lower taxes by percent than us.
I’m going to vote for Harris. That will benefit the Republicans by giving them an excuse to fill the comments with incoherent rants that use the maximum capacity of six of these boxes. Please don’t thank me. I’m too busy to read that many comments.
