I bought an electric leaf blower for the deck. Takes two batteries, but it’s too much work to open the shed and take out the gas powered blower.

This is not going to end well.

I remember seeing on the news a few months ago about a flooded area. A person was using a leaf blower to move the boat across the water.

Future polititian. I use my leaf blower to dry my car after I wash it.

There’s also fire extinguishers as an alternative (consult with David Letterman)!

Hey, if leaf blowers are that strong why is it so hard to blow &%^*$#+ acorns off the lawn?

Danae has indeed overestimated the power of the leaf blower. It’s going to take at least three when considering their combined weight, PLUS the wind-resistance. Now, if Danae wears a streamlined helmet and some homemade angel wings, I will withdraw my objection.

Went to Dollywood this week and rode a roller coaster like that. It was a hoot, but I just can’t ride them like I used to. Age is catching up with me.

I could use a couple leaf blowers on one of my horses: them facing FORWARD…

Wish that would happen to the leaves. Also wish guys who do next door yard would not blow leaves thru the fence. But I also wish for common sense out of the swamp on the Potomac. Wasted effort.

Few have used them to make RC aircraft, they are not designed for that, and are often and are too heavy for the job. Better to use hobby grade EDF. Much better thrust to weight ratio.

My leaf blower has a turbo mode and a 56 volt battery. Wow, that thing can really move the stuff! In Danae’s mind, this would work.

There are several videos online of people who have made model aircraft propelled by electric leaf blowers. These are people with a lot of time (and aircraft models) on their hands. :)

Is this where we can mention the urban legend about the guy who strapped a JATO pack to his pickup truck?

If you put on a cape and jump off the roof hoping to fly like Superman, objective reality (a combination of gravity and the cold hard ground) will “fact check” you pretty convincingly.

I remember in the movie October Sky when a rocket built by the Rocket Boys went awry and flew into town.

As a kid, maybe 8 years old, with a dad as an engineer, I thought he could build anything. I had an idea for something a bit like Danae’s vision, but ridden like a landspeeder. I was confident, if my dad would hollow out the ends of a couple of 2×4s and strap them together, then fill the void inside with some kind of propellant (gasoline, most likely) I could ride the thing and go flying through the air like some kind of (completely safe and controllable) sky motorcycle. I was unprepared for his response when he said he could not build it, and that my idea would unfortunately, not work.

Yeah, don’t try to establish whether it’ll work or not – you might come up against “Alternative Facts”!!
